net is without activity. if you exercise, you need more than 2100.

brown rice is what i have on hand; i like the taste (white is bland), and it only takes about 40 minutes in the rice cooker, which gives time to make the rest of the meal while the rice is cooking. nothing beats the occasional sticky rice, though.

guys, it's just food, calm down.

a cinnamon bun and cottage cheese.

i assume any meal out is 1000+ calories. i don't have any problems fitting that into my goals, and in the grand scheme of things, your body is going to deal with any bit extra as long as it's not every day. i just enjoy going to restaurants, so i try not to let nutritional concerns stop me from doing so.

what if weight wasn't a thing? you probably know your life will be better overall if you gain to a healthy weight, so do the things that will get you there and just focus on being better, happier, healthier, or think about how *kitten* the eating disorder is, you want to stay as far away from that as possible. i'm dealing…

i've been in hospital and in treatment for an eating disorder, where they expect you to eat enough to gain to a healthy weight while pretty much not moving. i'm not sure if this applies for everyone, or just people recovering from eating disorders, but in treatment we were told that if we had 20kg to gain, only about 7kg…

i'm drinking white tea and mint green tea.

up your protein to at least 130g.
-
i do 15~20 minutes of strength training most days, but it's very light and i'm not really building any muscle yet. thank you for your advice.

i'm male, 26 years old, 5'6. i know i'm underweight. i've been in and out of treatment for 10 years. i was recently discharged from a program for not being ready to move any further ahead (after 4 months, gained 30lbs). i'm on the wait list for an outpatient program in my area.

start slowly. the more you eat, the more you will be able to eat. like others' have said, 2500 isn't a lot.
-
any drastic change to your diet will have your body confused for a little while. i lost ~15lbs when i first went vegetarian. don't worry about it?

mmm sweet, sweet protein… :9 cottage cheese, with cinnamon, or cocoa powder, or berries. eggs (and tofurky) on toast. greek yogurt with oatmeal. i also take whey protein, so there's a solid 27g.
-
i didn't think about using it as replacement for ricotta, that's a great idea! i have it on toast, or eggs on toast, not sure about both… with cucumbers, maybe in a pita? i'm trying to gain weight, so no low-cal stuff.

damn, dude, i max out at 4000kcal/day, and that's with 4 supplements (ensure). i agree with adding more green things, just bathe them in oil; roasted vegetables, sweet potato fries, sautéed everything. if you take a bowl of leafy greens, toss them into a stir fry, they'll reduce down to nothing. according to your diary,…

i'm vegetarian.

i prefer plentils.

udon noodles are the one thing that gets me over my daily sodium.
-
yeah, i'm trying to gain. i don't do rest days; i figure my activity is low enough intensity.
-
lightly, yeah. i don't go to the gym, or have weights.
-
whoa, guys, calm down. we're all individuals. (personally, i don't feel "stuffed" until i top 3500kcal, so bring on the cheesecake).
-
whoa, i thought this forum was for people who wanted to gain weight, not 'stay lean' and 'minimize fat gain'.
-
actually, i can. you won't get fat, you'll get your life back.
-
when it's warm out, i get the blackberry mojito green tea lemonade. now, i'm a fan of soy cappuccinos with cinnamon. super-free hazelnut is a nice addition, too.
-
obviously you're scared. i challenge you to consider this: why are you scared? what are you afraid of? why is gaining weight so scary? what do you associate with being thin versus being not-thin? do you want to be thin, or do you want to be healthy? an eating disorder will kill you, if you don't fight it. are you getting…

i've struggled with anorexia for 10 years. calorie-counting is tricky; it can be helpful as a guideline, HOWEVER it's very easy for it to become an eating disordered behaviour and keep you sick. if you find it helpful, carry on, but if it stops being helpful, please stop. in treatment programs, we used exchanges and…

seitan (vital wheat gluten) is 23g of protein for 1/4 cup (dinner would use 1/2 cup). some veggie meats are pretty high in protein (yves bologna is 13g for 4 slices). and whey protein powder.

my veganism and the eating disorder didn't get along very well, plus i was kind of half-assing it ("i'm vegan except for 35-calorie yogurt!"). now i'm a committed vegetarian, and am much happier eating cage-free eggs than not eating eggs at all. :)

*sigh* no belly whatsoever. look, you need to gain weight. speaking as someone who has struggled with anorexia for 10 years, it takes a lot of work to gain weight when you're underweight. either decrease the activity or up your calories (2500, at least). and please, figure out what's behind your body distortion.
