  • My "Lift and Sculpt" jeans no longer lift or sculpt but are starting to look a bit baggy
  • Another one for starting C25K. I use it as my go to rehab runs after more than 4 weeks off due to injury, I normally run 5 X 5k per week x
  • Just noticed today that I now only have one chin!
  • Hi, I started on 5:2 at the end of June looking to lose about 18 lbs. Two months on I'm down 12lbs and feeling great. Because of my work and home life it's been easiest for me to have Thursday and Friday as consecutive fast days and have found it really easy to keep to, I've not been hungry or struggled with energy levels…
  • Every time I have had to take time off running due to injury etc I have eased back into it by starting back at the start of C25K again to make sure that I don't overdo things and injure myself all over again. x
  • When I sat on the edge of my bed a few months ago I realised that I resembled Jabba The Hut's flabbier sister. By being careful with my exercise and diet, following 5:2 I feel that the shape I am in is no longer "round" (a squidgy oval maybe but not round)
  • Also Aldi and Lidl have some good stuff at very reasonable prices - just not the trainers for me as I need more control than they have for running - other than that another vote for sports direct x
  • If you have an M and S near you they make their own sports bras for varying levels of intensity without being too expensive.
  • There's lots of different apps for C25K out there depending on whether you want music, motivational chatter etc so maybe if the one you are using is playing up then try another, I use zen labs for C25K and set runkeeper going at the same time so my stats are uploaded from runkeeper to mfp etc.
  • ^^ This plus Look as far ahead as you can, not at your feet, this will keep your back straighter and stop you hunching forwards and help keep your breathing easier. Try and keep your shoulders relaxed, shake your arms out if you start to feel them scrunching up. We all run funny, don't let it stop you!
  • I've just started on my 4th time through C25K, I use it after injuries have kept me out for a while to build back up to my normal distances and pace, and yes week 5 is hard. If you really don't feel ready for it go back to week 4 and do that over, as many times as you need to so that you do feel ready for it. I can say…
  • Congratulations on finding running and thank you for giving me hope for the future! I broke my left hip just over a year ago and had it pinned. Was given the all clear to start running last October with the warning that if the pin fails I will need a hip replacement and won't be able to run - looks like I might be able to…

  • I think w5 d3 is also scheduled then for a psychological reason. Up until then you have been doing a mix of run and walk. If you can do this first long run then the barrier of needing a walk break - however short- has been broken. If you can do this one 20 minute run then in your head everything that is to come is doable!…
  • Another one for C25K. There are lots of free apps and downloads that cover the runs, find one that you like and go with that, I preferred the ones where you are just told when to run, when to walk and when you are half way but other people like ones with music or motivational commentary. I was really nervous of running…
  • I had bursitis in my left hip just over a year ago. Because it is pain caused by muscles and tendons rubbing on an inflamed bursa the very action of running will aggravate it and make it worse. Which I unfortunately did hoping I could run through the pain (yes I am an idiot at times) As frustrating as it is if you don't…
  • C25K W6D3 for the 2nd time after breaking a hip. Taking it easy and concentrating on form and breathing rather than just getting to the end of the section and running is a joy again!
  • Due to injury (pulled adductors and achilles) I started back at the beginning of C25K after working through it late last year (second time after broken hip), prior to my 8 week break I was running 5K 3x per week but decided to start way back at the beginning as I wasn't sure whether running would aggravate my injury or…
  • I broke my hip last May, worst pain ever!, childbirth was not that bad. My consultant was permanently annoyed with me because I couldn't take things easy and wanted to get back to running but he was just worried I would compromise the blood flow to my hip and need a replacement. I cried the day he said I was healed enough…
  • Congratulations!
  • I was asked today "why do you go running when it's so obviously a huge effort? Before you broke your hip you ran like a runner and now you dontl!" - My nsv is BECAUSE I CAN! It was touch and go whether I would be able to walk any distance never mind run again with a pin in my hip, I still need to build up muscle strength…
  • My sympathies, I had this earlier on this year and it put me out of action completely. I was prescribed anti-inflammatories - not OTC ones, and advised to rest it as much as possible to allow the swelling to go down, I now know that if I had rested it properly when it first started I would not have been left being hardly…
  • My NSV. I have been a runner for just over a year, nothing major just 5 x 5k a week. It was my happy time being outside and running. Then on 11 May I broke my left hip after a 8 week running hiatus due to bursitis. Today I finished week 1 of C25K and feel so darn good I'm still doing my happy dance.
  • Thanks Laura I'm beginning to think that my summer running kit might not get an outing this year lol
  • Thanks Tomatoey Rowing sounds ideal! I'll see if I can borrow a machine to see if I can cope with it! Jus
  • Thanks Angel I looked at Chris Powells the workout on youtube and unfortunately I cant even do the second warmup exercise lol. I will look into them further when the bursitis swelling goes down and I can get some rotational movement in my hips though. Jus
  • Thanks Cherimoose. I had discussed exercises for recovery with my GP and he had suggested IT band stretches. Swimming would be out for safety reasons as when the acute pain hits I end up on the floor lol.
  • Happy birthday abellone! My nsv - my gp called me a serious runner today Bummer today - I went to see him for hip bursitis and can't run until it clears!
  • I think it could be a tension headache from how you hold your upper body whilst running rather than a migraine. (Migraine sufferer who is out for 3 days when it starts) Shake your arms and shoulders out whilst you run, don't clench your fists, don't frown, take it easy and enjoy. Jus
  • Congratulations! My bf% has (only) just dropped from the acceptable range to fitness level .........happy dance
  • Having dodgy knees at times too I found fitness blender have some low or zero impact routines on YouTube that were good for me.
