Thanks all. I was wondering what was happening to my body and now I have a new term to google (neuromuscular adaptation). Loving the learning on this process. I do have a goal weight of losing 3 more pounds in the hopes of decreasing BF% and then I’m going to decrease my deficit to focus on recomp.

“ It would also help if you are young, male, and relatively new to resistance training.[/quote] Well dang. 😭😭😭

Thanks for the response. So my question is still, aren’t I getting stronger as I increase my weights I’m lifting, and doesn’t that mean more muscle?
-
@sijomial this is more what I was debating but I used the wrong term. Right now MFP has me eating 1200 calories to lose 2 lbs a week. Since I don’t care about losing weight and am only interested in recomp, I was wondering if I should switch my focus and eat at maintenance.

@PAV8888 I meant that I would “power through” the weight loss portion of this...grit my teeth...lose the weight! I won’t be giving up weight training any time soon! It’s my therapy!
-
@moogie_fit I’m gonna actually step up the weight loss and see if I can power through until end of May. Then go to maintenance and try to build some muscle! I’d love to hear more about your recomp success!

@quicksylver0922 yes you read 6 weeks correctly! It’s the longest I’ve stuck with a program so it feels like a long time to me lol! I’ll keep lifting cuz I love it!

@sijomial my goal would be recomposition—I don’t care about the number on the scale, but I want to build muscle and decrease body fat. I was thinking “bulking” so that I could add muscle. I don’t necessarily (at all) want to “gain weight” from a scale sense. So my goal would mostly be primarily aesthetics (shallow I know)!

@mom23mangos I read about “adding clay” on Bret’s website actually! I really need to get his book.

@mom23mangos thanks for the tip. I have a torn labrum so no upper body right now. 😭😭😭. Favorite abductor exercises?

@JohnnytotheB thank you! I painted it myself and to be honest it was a complete b**** of a job!

My main goal is 134 grams of protein because I’m trying to do some body re-composition. I’m also trying to stay under 70 grams carbs. Analyzing more closely, I am over on my fat grams.

Thanks for the suggestions. I get 15 minutes because I'm a teacher. I laughed out loud at that comment! I should have mentioned I'm picky about my meat sources, and I don't eat tuna because of the mercury. Yogurt has never been very satiating for me, actually. BUT, protein bars, quinoa/grain salads, fruit/veg with hummus,…

You guys, I am SO HUNGRY ALL THE TIME. I never stay in my calorie range because I end up binging. I can't handle the hunger! All I think about is food! How do you handle it???

I would like to be added as well. Having a near impossible time staying within the 1200 calorie allotment.

We need some extra support. :-) 5'5" Highest weight (does pregnancy count?) 180 Low weight 120 current weight 125 goal weight 115 I need to get back into fighting fit shape (ironically at my previous "maintaining" weight I was SUPER fit). Truly amazing and inspirational! You must feel so healthy and incredible. Way to go. What is the biggest change you have noticed in how you feel and your habits?

This is my first week. I logged 6 days in a row, and today will be a 7th. I logged the binges, I logged the indulgences, I kept logging even as the numbers crept up past my calorie intake allowance. I weighed everything and logged every gram that went into my mouth. This is the first time i have been successful logging…

Very helpful and motivational. I've been "on a diet" for about 15 years, and some of those years I was even really diligent about measuring...but not logging EVERYTHING, and certainly not weighing. I weighed my breakfast for the first time ever. Had I just logged what I thought was accurate, I would have been…

I think I'll just err on the safe side and log the whole vegetable. My reasoning is, the only part that doesn't get juiced is mostly comprised of insoluble fiber, which I understand the body does not absorb. So, I'm ingesting the caloric part of the vegetable. Also, better to be safe, yes?
