Cutting way back on alcohol has been easier than I thought, but I do still include some in my diet from time to time. I tend to do well drinking bourbon neat. It ends up being pretty low on the scale of calories-to-drunkenness for me (way better than the kinds of beer I like to drink), which means I can have a bit of a…

I have relatively a lot of cheat days, but you and I may define cheat days differently. For me, it's not a full on binge, or a free for all... but once in a while I'll let myself go a little over, or I'll have a special treat on top of my usual calorie amount. Yesterday was my birthday, and I had a lot of plans, so I…

Congratulations; that's amazing progress! You must feel AMAZING compared to how you felt before! Try lifting 100 pounds sometime soon (don't strain yourself!) and then just imagine carrying all that around all day, every day - that's what you were doing!

Last winter I bike commuted every day that was above 0 degrees Fahrenheit. You can walk in 15 degrees, easy. You just need to bundle up. Especially your face, your hands, and your feet... you can be comfortable in very cold temps, if you just bundle up! Might not be necessary for simply walking, but for biking, I found ski…

I'm going to try to do my best, both diet and exercise-wise, for the whole season - and if I slip a bit on big days, I can make up for it on the other ones. I'm cutting back on drinking a lot this month and next, to help make up for the treats that'll be all around me soon enough. :) As for actually choosing what to eat…

I take a different approach. If I'm exhausted, I don't work out. But I do hold myself VERY accountable for making sure I'm not too tired the next day, and the next, and the next. If you're tired, look at what you're eating, and see if you could be doing a better job of eating for energy, or eating at the right times. Drink…

I love unloading healthy stuff onto my coworkers so that I don't eat it. :D

Who said she's going to stuff herself silly at every one of these meals? Why do you call it "three gigantic Thanksgiving dinners"? Do you think it's possible that by the time one gets to the third Thanksgiving meal, they might be capable of exercising some restraint? It's entirely possible to see the people you care about…

I'm hosting a Friendsgiving event this year. We're making the turkey, but asking friends to bring dishes, too. Since it's a little non-traditional, I'd LOVE it if some of my health-conscious friends brought healthier dishes to pass. Feel free to think outside of the traditional Thanksgiving box! A few years ago I made a…

This is an awesome difference! Way to go! Seriously, such an achievement.

The only way you'll gain if you stop is if you keep eating the same amount you're eating now. If you're burning 400 cals a day walking, and you eat an extra 400 cals a day, then you'll maintain your current weight. If you stop walking, but keep on eating that extra 400 cals every day, you'll gain almost a pound a week.…

You have a decision to make right now about which direction you go. Either you give up, and put weight back on, because you are so discouraged; or you keep working at it, and improve from where you're at now. No, you're not where you wanted to be right now. But in one month, you can either be fatter than you are right now,…
