  • Why does it have to be one or the other? If you like lifting and you like cardio then there is no reason not to do both.
  • Since I don't eat apple seeds and one would have to consume them in such a large quantity to actually die from it I'm not too concerned about apples. Since dyes are in pretty much everything packaged I'm more concerned about that.
  • Because it contains known carcinogens. Red Dye #3 has been acknowledged by the FDA to be a carcinogen but it's still in foods
  • The problem when this is discussed here is that you will now get the "EVERYTHING HAS CHEMICALS!" people who proceed to show you what, exactly is in a blueberry and how "you can't pronounce it so it's bad for you!" It's nit-picky really when you think about it. I personally stay away from things like Red Dye #5, BPA,…
  • And you know this because you work at the bread factory? And if you make your own bread you're still using yeast and gluten so according to what you say about bread home made is still bad. According to you.
  • Really depends on the bread you're buying. EX: Ezekiel Sprouted Bread ingredients: Organic Sprouted Wheat, Filtered Water, Organic Sprouted Barley, Organic Sprouted Millet, Organic Malted Barley, Organic Sprouted Lentils, Organic Sprouted Soybeans, Organic Sprouted Spelt, Fresh Yeast, Organic Wheat Gluten, Sea Salt. So . .…
  • LOL Really? "In the human body, an atom of Carbon is attached to an O2 atom via osmosis in the lungs, as a way to eliminate a waste product. Humans exhale Co2 by the bucket, as do all animals on the planet which breathe air. After which, in a beautifully balanced dance of chemical interactions, trees and other plants take…
  • I agree with this and I try to do the same. When I go to the store I pretty much perimeter shop and only go down other aisles if I need certain things -- coffee, tea, olive oil etc. What I consider "unhealthy" someone else might not and vice versa. I'm just blown away by the amount of people who actually care.
  • Good job. I quit smoking cold turkey a long time ago and have never gone back. Here is a tip to "beat the cravings" that you might get: CHANGE YOUR HABITS. I believe smoking is more a habit than an addiction. I knew a gal who went through a program to quit smoking and it was all about changing your habits. For example if…
  • No. The only difference is the fact that it's strained which makes it thicker/more tangy.
  • Junk food has little or no nutritional value, which is what I would consider "empty calories". And yes, one can eat pizza and ice cream but I think the issue is that's what many people ate when they gained their weight. Not everyone can eat those things in moderation. For some people it's a trigger to overeat therefore…
  • Uh, no it doesn't unbalance the gut flora. It is a probiotic, just like the other bacterias that are in yogurt, and actually balances your gut flora. It is also breaks down the lactose in milk which makes it easier for those people who are lactose intolerant to digest dairy products.
  • I go to Mcdonalds for their coffee. If I have anything else it's a late-night drunk run, and that doesn't happen very often.
  • Diced tomatoes, chicken broth or a can of cream of mushroom soup.
  • Greek yogurt is heavily strained to remove liquid whey and lactose, leaving behind a tangy, creamy product. Plain Greek yogurt has double the protein, half the carbs and half the sodium of the regular variety. Be aware, though, that not all yogurt manufacturers strain it. There is no FDA "regulation" as to what constitutes…
  • Keep a 1 liter bottle filled with water close by at all times. I find that if I don't do this then I am less likely to drink water. If it's sitting next to me staring me in the face then it's an 'Oh yeah! I have to drink water!' kind of thing. Glass fulls don't work for me, mostly because I would have to keep getting up to…
  • You mean superiority complex: "an attitude of superiority that conceals actual feelings of inferiority and failure."
  • LMAO! Insecure and envious of . . . . what exactly?
  • ^^ This. I'm not sure what it is you do on the treadmill but one thing that I like to do to switch things up in between running is a walking program that I came up with. I vary the speed and the incline and I also do walking lunges and walk sideways. I'll throw on something that I DVR'd -- or just watch live TV -- and go…
  • And this adds what to the actual topic? Not everyone likes the cold. I personally hate it and will in no way run outside when it's freezing cold and windy out. Nor will I risk busting my head by slipping on a sheet of ice or twisting an ankle from a pothole. OP: True that the treadmill can get boring so when I use it I'll…
  • Honestly? Even if you're talking to someone about their dietary preference why is it necessary to label it? Why, if for example, I don't eat red meat, pork, chicken, but I do eat fish, eggs and dairy can't I just say "Well, I don't eat XYZ because I don't like how it tastes but I LOVE my fish, eggs and dairy." Why is it…
  • You should inquire at your home location although this is what I found on the website with regards to the differences in "plans": "Reciprocal use of all PF Franchise Locations". There was no special note that stated limited to 10 visits/month but again, check with your location. With regards to the guest, you can bring…
  • I find this whole post to be quite rude, with emphasis on the bolded parts. I'd love to know who all these people are that "don't care" about what goes into their body and are "only about the aesthetics rather than health". Consuming red meat and dairy doesn't make one unhealthy. You're views are the reason why so many…
  • And the problem with that is . . . what exactly?
  • Thanks for this. I was looking for kefir and I can't for the life of me find it any where! I have some recipes that have this in it. And yogurt does have probiotics. You just have to make sure that what you buy for the starter states that it has it in it. Also, if you use raw milk, since it's being heated at such a low…
  • I am confused why it took 5 hours on high to bring the milk up to 180 degrees. It never took that long in a pot on the stove. Also if you use raw milk you only heat it to 98-100 degrees. The recipe looks more complicated than it should be to be honest.
  • What happens after January? Do you go back to drinking or is this something you plan on doing for life?
  • I disagree. I don't really eat bread and I don't feel unsatisfied. I also don't crave sweets and more carbs when I don't eat bread.
