I started replacing 1/4 of flour with flax meal and adding protein powder to my homemade bread. It raises the calories a bit per slice but the fiber and protein go up a lot. Reducing the calories kills the flavor and texture so i opted to make it just a little better in other ways.

Every day like clockwork. If i miss a day then i'm in trouble because something is wrong and then it takes days to get back on track.

I have had problems with addiction. It has never lost me a job, never landed me in a shelter, i have never sold my body, and i have never "lost" a child over it. I have however had issues with working, had frequent moves and even lived in cars and other peoples couches, considered doing demeaning or immoral things and…

I didn't say you said it. I was asking because it appears that you believe a person who thinks that food addiction is real is trivializing actual addictions. I may have read that wrong.
-
So then you believe a person can only be addicted to something if it is an illegal or controlled substance?
-
Yale University believes that food addiction is real. Not sure where i sit in this debate. http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/mental-health-food-addiction Experiments in animals and humans show that, for some people, the same reward and pleasure centers of the brain that are triggered by addictive drugs like cocaine and…

There's nothing anywhere that says you have to eat at certain times or you should avoid any specific foods. Unless... Do you have a problem with eating right before bed? I don't really. I can't have a lot of caffeine too late but i can drink a glass of soda and get sugared up and sleep fine. I do most of my eating later in…

The kind i use is in the database and i log it by guessing however long i think i sprayed it. I use it often enough that every little bit will eventually add up.

I have advertisements blocked through my browser but last week i took that add on off for a while. There were ads everywhere about "5 foods to never eat" and "blast belly fat" all over every page. As long as those advertisements are around, these questions will keep popping up.

Blasphemy! I eat pizza just about every week. It is yummy and satisfying and it prevents me from snacking mindlessly looking for something else to satisfy the pizza craving. A little planning and effort can make a pizza very healthy and tasty.
-
Good point! I should have mentioned that. It's especially not a binge if you make it homemade and up the protein and fiber in it.

I keep a spreadsheet to track everything. Some days i don't eat enough but then there are days that i eat way too much. I try to balance it out at the end of the week and if i am way off i can have a big snack or peddle my bike a little longer. There are a lot of people on here that look at the entire week.
-
The more you keep track the easier it gets. I still eat sweets just about every single evening. As time goes by i either pick better choices or limit the amount i have. You could plan ahead and make snacks that you can look forward to that will fit into your day better. If you package them ahead of time then it is easier…

Jeepers. Did you actually make this recipe? curious cuz i have questions. Does it rise? The pic makes it look the same before and after baking. What's the texture like? Obviously it's not light and fluffy. I don't automatically dismiss any recipe. I just don't want to make something without having an idea of what it will…
-
You're funny. I'm curious cuz i like to bake. I don't understand how these recipes even qualify as bread. If it doesn't rise then it isn't bread.
-
It doesn't look like it rises. Did you make this recipe?

I used to follow those recipes and i had to work a mixer that was taller than i am. Kitchen policy was to weigh everything even if the bag was marked. I was fit back then, nothing like a workout of lifting 50 lb bags of flour all day. I also worked at a pizza chain where we made large batches of dough and everything was…

i love sausage gravy and biscuits. I actually have it planned for tomorrows dinner. I couldn't live in a world without it. I have learned to not eat them so often and it makes me appreciate them more when i have em.

I just saw a video the other day that made me say "I wanna do that" but my ceilings are too low. Damned tiny apartment.

I forgot to mention before that the food scale is more than just for calorie counting. Since i got a food scale, my homemade bread has been exactly the same every single time i bake it. It's how i always did it in food service yet i never bothered to get a scale at home. There's a reason why big kitchens use scales. Every…

Check out a smaller grocery store chain if you can. I shop at a typically higher priced store but bigger stores can't compete with a lot of their sales prices. I stock up on chicken breasts when they are BOGO. Sometimes i get really lucky and i work out a 50lb deal at a local meat market. Prices vary depending on the time…

I weigh everything. First banana i weighed sort of shocked me, i had been guessing wrong and could have eaten a lot more of them along them way. A persons idea of a small, medium or large of something can vary. I even weigh pre-packaged items, it's amazing to see how far off those package weights differ from what the label…

I have my first major gripe about it. The heart rate monitor has yet to work right. It works but there are tons of drops every time i use it. You would think i had a ton of heart attacks by looking at that. This is every single time i've used it. Right from the beginning. Ive tried repositioning it, spitting on it, moving…

A very light meal/snack 224 calories Carrots , 76 g 31 cal Homemade Bread - Toasted 42 g 120 cal Egg, 51 g 73 cal Water, 16 oz(s) My homemade bread is slightly higher calorie compared to store bought. If i eat 2 eggs and more like 64g bread it ends up being just 300 calories. Such a basic meal and can be added to easily if…

That's exactly why they are higher sodium. It's so they can be loose packed in a bag instead of tightly packed together with the air removed from the bag. That air space makes it easier to freezer burn but it also makes it easier to remove just one portion from the frozen bag. It's a convenience trade off. It really does…

I like to make food ahead of time and freeze it. Double the batch every time you cook and freeze it into pre-measured portions. All you have to do later is is thaw, log, heat and eat.

That's a fairly normal reaction for me from eating mcdonalds more than once in a day. I get that way from fried food. I wouldn't blame the food itself but i would blame having it twice in one day after not eating it for a while. I love mcdonalds and i won't stop eating it. It's one of those things that needs to be balanced…

I am obsessive about weighing everything. Some of it is curiosity. Yesterday my daughter and i had frozen macaroni and cheese for lunch. Neither one weighed in at what the box said it should be. In fact, hers was 10g under and mine was much more under. For some foods that may not make a difference but at the end of the day…

I have one blown and one bulging disk in the lower as well. Not nearly as bad as you. The last time it was bad i spent 2 months pretty much on the floor with endless discomfort until enough chiropractor visits got it all sorted out enough for me to be mobile again. I can be fine one minute and then on the floor the next. I…
