  • For chocolate cravers. I go for one piece of dark chocolate. Actually is quie low carb if uncan limit urself to 1 or 2 pieces a day
  • thanks for the words of support everyone. when i'm sad, i need to go outside and appreciate fresh air vs. eating a hamburger.
  • haha @tatilanag, you crack me up because the "salty-soy sauce-is-my-only-real-flavor-I'm-happy-its-low-carb-but-it-sure-isn't-tasty dish" is exactly what i make when i make stir fry! and my veggies are always super soggy. but today i tried the atkins sesame chicken frozen dinner, and it was yummy!! i don't want to eat…
  • i am not a cooking person either. do you have a trader joes by you?? i have found pre-made salads and pre-made dinners that are within good carb numbers and just eat those same few. if you're into indian food, there are lots of pre-made choices! tasty bites brand!
  • i also have a clip on fitbit and have wanted to switch over to the band. but i checked amazon reviews on the new fitbit charge aren't very good. i feel the clip ons are probably going to be the most accurate.…
  • i'm 5'3 and was 172/173 at my highest, so i've been there! since you've lost weight before, i'm sure you know the basics. Just start by having a calorie goal in place (MFP helps with that) and start some type of exercise plan, 4/5 days a week. jogging on the street is always free! it helps to have a piece of paper with…
  • i'm 5"3, currently 132, but was 126 this summer. the south beach diet helped me go down in weight, but unfortunately i went right back to carbs when i quit the diet. also had some life stressors that kinda triggered some over eating. currently trying to get back on the south beach diet to get back down. goal weight is…
  • Congratulations!! this is just the beginning! remember this great sense of accomplishment the next time you think about skipping!
  • forgot to add, like others day. i'd probably up the goal to 1400. it's amazing how the 200 cal adjustment helps! also, i always put my planned meals/snacks in MPF the day before to see where i can adjust and try to stick with that the next day.
  • i'm 5'3 and weigh about 132, but was 126 this summer (work/family issues brought the weight back on). 1200 is do-able if you eat at home every meal, but if you try to eat out, this will go out the window. need to add exercise or watch your macros. more protein in the diet does help keep appetite down.
  • well i did the diet this summer and it was easy because the weather is hot, so eating salads is great. i guess during the winter i can't count on these salads, so i need to figure out something else to eat. also, just lost my dog of nearly 16 years, so a pretty emotional time to try to diet. life is never simple though.
  • i'm probably not the best person to answer this question since it's just my husband and i, and we basically have an empty kitchen all the time. haha but in my personal experience, it is definitely easier to say no to any cookies, than to try to just eat one and stop. But in the case of your son and the cookies, what you…
  • i have done the south beach diet twice and I must say, it is the easiest diet to be on, especially when eating out. all restaurants have a salad that fits the south beach rules. but like cwolfan13 says... under stress or when i deviate from the diet, i go straight back to bread, which is bad. but it's a nice diet because…
  • cheddar cheese sticks and mixed nuts!
  • thanks for the tip. i guess what i like about south beach is that i can eat whatever i want of certain foods, vs trying to eat a little of any food. just easier for me to control. i guess personality issue. but yes, in the end, eating in moderation is always the key to lasting success. i have not tried eating by macros,…
