OP, just eat in a calorie deficit, train, and your waist will shape naturally. You don't need a waist trainer. A waist trainer is a waste (see what I did there?).

Try a few workouts where you push the pace up a bit and see how it feels. You may need to shoot for a faster marathon time.

If your PR is 4:22, 4 flat is a good target. You don't want to push yourself too hard. However, at the end of the day, it's going to come down to your training. Were you consistent? Also, is this your first marathon since returning from your break?

I was a non-runner when I started in March of 2012. I struggled with the first 60 seconds of the first week. I finished the program and ran my first 5K in June of 2012. A year later, I ran my fastest 5K in 19 minutes. The program works if you stick to it.

Calories in/Calories out works just the same at any weight. You might lose slower once you get closer to your goal weight, but it's still calories in<calories out.

Nursing burns a crazy amount of calories. My wife lost all of her baby weight and then some by nursing, and she doesn't exercise or diet.
