  • Welcome xLexa! Try to make sure you're minimal intake isn't because you're feeling deprived or don't have many choices in your pantry right now. I often felt this way when it was just me doing keto. Now that my wife has joined in just about everything in the house is friendly and I actually have to restrain myself…
  • Great work ladies, keep up the work!
  • In your case I truly feel you need to rely more on measurements and BF%. If you're currently 5'0" 150 with dense muscle it could just be you will lean out in the upper body slower than lower body. I'm the same way and it's frustrating because what you see in the mirror is waist up mostly. With crossfit training you…
  • My wife and I have recently tried Swerve and it's not bad. She uses it more than me. It seems to bake well from what I've tasted.
  • That's an awesome NSV!
  • OMG I died and went to heaven! Even though as an adult I rarely drink milk, I do get a hankering for cereal now and again, this looks ultra yum! My 2 cents is I have coffee + HWC + sweet drops caramel for breakfast most mornings. But probably my wife's most creative breakfast invention was a breakfast scramble with squash…
  • @andrea4736 "manmade" that's hilarious :D and a first for that description! Congrats on your "notch" NSV!!!
  • You know it may be the fasting aspect, if you're not having breakfast with that coffee. If mornings were just the coffee and now coffee is with lunch or just later in the day, it may be the extended fast. The HWC in my coffee is the only reason I don't consider myself fasting. Interesting.
  • Even if you suspect keto flu, see your doctor and see if you can handle increased sodium, magnesium and potassium. Those electrolytes being flushed out of the body more rapidly on a keto woe are the reason for the flu. Usually it's thought that at the accelerated rate they leave the body on keto that it's ok to increase…
  • This is a great thread! I recently moved to holes in a leather belt that I've never touched before!
  • Well said Rooster! Another thing, unless you're 1) consciously working toward mass in your legs and 2) eating at the caloric surplus required to build said mass you aren't going to see appreciable size gains in your legs. And a 3rd point just because I don't know when to quit, is that muscular legs are shapely legs and…
  • @Roosterdjc I had to do something to lift the depression of being out of the gym for 4 whole days! :'( :D
  • Welcome and thanks for the friend request! Another nod for not forcing the fat. If you're not hungry there is no need to cram more fat in til nausea. Once you have some decent macros, nail the carbs, nail the protein and eat fat until you're satisfied! One of the best quotes I've heard and really changed my thinking around…
  • There is a ton of science that explains different sides of this coin, but here is some really good advice. The gist is if you aren't on a keto diet for therapeutic reasons or have diagnosed insulin resistance the arguments against protein don't apply heavily to you. The protein is lean muscle sparring in a calorie deficit.…
  • Welcome and feel free to add me as well! Same for everyone else, just drop a line that you're a keto/LC friend! I'm add a slightly different aspect because I resistance train a lot so I add a few more carbs and more protein than the avg keto-er.
  • Just spent 48 hours with the 24 hour stomach bug! Yay {sarcasm}. About 12 hours in I realized that the B-R-A-T diet was not gonna work for me......I was left in a bit of a pickle and sadly without actual pickles. Alas I lived to tell the tale. I made if with several servings of broth from canned chicken noodle soup(what…
  • So, how have your first couple of days been?? That's good to hear! All you did was cut morning joe? Wow, was it like super keto-fied, fat bomb proof coffee? All joking aside I'm interested, because I drink mine with just HWC and stevia and add little to my caloric or carb count.
  • Welcome new keto family! @pdlievsa congrats on your pending nuptials!! Good luck with keto, don't let the stress of a wedding derail your goals! @elize7 Stressful times are hard for any deliberate way of eating. Keep your head up and remember Keep calm and keto on!!!
  • In addition you don't necessarily want to bounce directly back to maintenance, because who really knows what that intake level is? A slow increase allows you to find that sweet spot through trial and error instead of relying on calculators that aren't perfect. This is especially true for those who's anxiety levels increase…
  • ^^^ Right there. Also two weeks isn't really enough time to see any changes pos or neg. I'd give it more time. And as implied but not directly said above if you adding goo gobs of dietary fat, that's not necessary. Fat to satiety, but make sure carb maxes and protein mins are nailed!
  • You are correct @kpk54 You'll see these minimum recommendations in both units. What I've seen consistently is anywhere from: 1-2g/KG * 1KG/2.2LB = 0.45-0.9g/LB Sorry for the math nerd moment.
  • This is the fatal flaw of any "diet" or "way of eating". It's not "faster" for anyone, it took time to put it on and it'll take time to take off and more effort to boot. Be patient, keep calm and keto on!
  • This is exactly what I was going to write! If you start to notice other "weirdness" like hair loss or mood swings those are other signs of under eating.
  • Awesome @KnitOrMiss Thank you!
  • Judging by your diary I would strongly suggest searching all posts by @sunny_bunny_ Your carb intake is great, but I would think you should shift a bit of fat preference to protein. It will reduce calories some. Without your stats it's impossible to gauge your intake to your estimated needs. But 3 things to conisder. 1. If…
  • @sunny_bunny_ how about magnesium sulfate? I'm looking at a BCAA supplement that boasts an electrolyte mix with that form of mag.
  • @robinsmith1 - I am deeply sorry for your losses! Losing parental figures is devastating, I know. I will skipped the cliche' inspirational words, for both our sake, and go directly to a great resource I just stumbled on sorta specific to your situation. 2 Keto Dudes podcast episode 52 spoke specifically to 3 ladies, mods…
  • This is a great thread! Goes to show sometimes it's "how" you ask the question! Great stuff @Gallowmere1984 Thanks for the insights! I'm attempting a slow cut right now. I lift 4-6x week. My stats differ significantly form the OP, but this stuff is still relevant. 5'6" 242lb 32% bf (from last dexa scan) Looking ultimate…
  • Oh wow, I'm sorry you're having pain issues.
  • You've gotten the best advice possible thus far, so I'll just say listen, follow and welcome! Good luck to you Amber! Omar
