Thank you everyone, very informative, although of course a lot of people will have very different opinions. But I get it, it doesn't seem beneficial to be wearing it on my ankle. And no, I don't want to look like I'm on house arrest, especially since I'm a teacher at a school where quite a few of my students are on it lol.…

High school teacher here. I was able to lose 33 lbs last year from November through June. I actually lost the most weight while working, during winter break I lost nothing. During the summer and since September I gained back 10 lbs, mostly because I got comfortable and wasn't following my routine as closely. This is what…

My favorites are zucchini and Napa cabbage - super low calories, I can eat as much as I want and still hardly consume any calories. Green beans are filling and low calories. Love frozen green peas, little more calories, but very satisfying. Cauliflower is great as well and other types of cabbages.

I usually go for fat free flavoured Greek yoghurt by whatever brands is on sale that week, usually $.99 / yoghurt. They taste pretty good, and are usually 80-100 calories. The plain ones don't taste so good, especially fat free ones. You can dress them up though, add pineapples, walnuts, honey, mango, banana, etc, but you…

The bottom line is to lose weight you have to be at a calorie deficiency, but you also need to have enough of it. Your body needs calories to actually function. Less than 1200 calories are not enough, and are not even sustainable on the long run. You need lots of protein for muscles but also for your entire body to…

I have used diet pills of and on for many many years (nothing prescription strength though, and one time some dangerous mixture of pills from Mexico). None of them have really worked, I either lost very little, or if I lost more, I couldn't keep it off or if I lost a lot, that was very unhealthy. I did lose 33 lbs in 6…

Definitely use a food scale. Grams or ounces are so much more accurate than cups / teaspoons, etc. I lost 33 lbs in 6 months, kept it off for the last 3 months (some fluctuations here and there), and the food scale + strict devotion to log everything accurately was the key. In the summer I slacked off a little (also I went…

I was kind of bad because I didn't update my progress here, but I was good because I did work hard and achieved my goal :) Name: Marianna Height: 5'8" Starting Weight: 171 Goal Weight (2/28): 163 2/1: 171 lb 2/8: 169 lb (I weighed in 2/10 actually) 2/15:167.5 (Feb 17) 2/22: didn't weigh 2/27: 163.5 lb !! So happy. I was…

I allow myself a 'cheat day' about once a week. I don't necessarily plan exactly what day it is, but it's usually a Friday or Saturday. That doesn't mean I eat like Miss Piggie and that I don't log - I'm not undoing days of hard work. It just means that instead of 1400 calories, I probably have 1800 or rarely 2000. I still…

It gave me so much energy, and was…

I don't eat breakfast when I work, but I do drink coffee with creamer up through about lunch, so that's about 120-250 calories right there. I often have a snack and then lunch at 12:30 pm. Some days I ate breakfast, I would still be hungry at lunch, so i think I would actually eat more calories if I ate breakfast. On the…

That's true, I never thought of that lol. I did weigh quite a few first, and they ended up being the same, so then I just assumed.

It depends. For me it was very noticeable, even after just 9 lbs. (that's when I took the second half of my profile pic). I had coworkers telling me after 2 weeks that my face looked skinnier. However your face can fluctuate without losing any weight, so I wouldn't really base anything on that. And how much weight do you…

I just recently found a halfway used bottle of Slim Quick (supposed to supress appetite and give you energy, and all that). For the first time ever I looked at it and knew that I will never need it. Eating at a calorie deficit is all I need. If I'm really hungry, and eat so much that I go over my goal, I either work it off…

I only weigh what I eat (so no peel). One thing that makes things easier: usually all the bananas in the bunch (4-7 in one group usually) weigh the same. You just need to weigh one without the peel, you can assume the others will be the same weight. This way you just grab one and go, and you can log it later.

I love Zumba!! Currently I only make it to the gym 203 times / week (the closest one is 25 minutes away, the other one is 40), but I'm moving to the nearby city in 2 months, so then the gyms will be about 10-15 minutes away. Then I can actually make it Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the very least :) For me it's…

I'm not an expert either, and I can't say much about the emotional side, as it has never happened to me. But you might have gotten nauseated because of nutrition. Besides being hydrated, I found that 2 hours before yoga eating a nice meal of carbs gives me just the right energy without weighing me down. This can be a bowl…

I forgot to mention, that when I was 16, for 40 days I only ate apples and kefir (no flavor). I think I also had coffee. I made up this diet myself, because back then (In Hungary) the only nutritional information you would hear was eat less, and you can lose weight, or don't eat 'fattening' foods. No one I knew had any…

Yes, olive oil is healthy and good for you, but for the past 2 months I haven't used it. I use the non-stick spray, which I know is not natural, but it saves me 2-300 calories every day, and I need those.

I did a weird and dangerous diet 15 years ago. It worked very well, but I'd never do it again. It was prescribed by a doctor in Mexico. She prescribed 5 pills to be taken at specific times of the day. 1 was a very strong appetite surpressent, similar to Phentermine, the other I'm still not sure about, probably similar.…

I just ate 4 ounces of goat cheese (by itself). Went over my calories. I don't care, it was worth it :) It doesn't happen that often. For me it's either smoked gouda or goatcheese. I don't have them often, and I try to eat it in moderation, but some days goat cheese is looking for me and there's no where to hide lol

I used to eat back all, then everyone started saying why it's wrong (which I don't agree with, but I can see some points), now I eat back some. This is my philosophy about it: - small exercise calories, such as a walk or job for 100-300 I try not eat back. I just think of it as assurance that I really in fact only ate 1400…

I didn't do it for the first 6 weeks (didn't think about it). I don't actually call it a cheat day, because I'm not cheating, it's a relaxing day. That means I allow myself to go over my limit, but I still log everything, I still make healthy choices (for the most part) I just just eat more or higher calorie foods. For…

to the OP: I think you're perfectly fine. Keep doing what you're doing, make sure your wine fits in with your calorie budget, and if you go over a 100 calories on some days, seriously, it's still on a deficit. You have not plateaud, you just didn't lose for a few days. Weight loss is not always steady, some weeks you might…

One of the best things you can make for lunch is a pot of stew. Log the ingredients as you make it. You can decide what goes in and how filling you want it to be. You can do it with meat (ground beef or turkey, chunks of chicken or beef, etc) or without it. Add all kinds of beans for more filling, corn, squash, etc, or you…

cook the chicken. Before you put it on your plate, weigh it, write down the weight. When you're done eating, weigh the bone, subtract it from the total weight, and you got the meat only weight. :)

For me a nice carb meal about 2 hours before works best. A bowl of oatmeal or brown rice, big enough to fill you and give you energy but long enough before you run so that you're not weighed down. Protein never did the same for me.

Quinoa. I don't get the big hype about it. Having said that I bought a box a week ago, and I made it 3 times. Twice sweet, and it was great, but I really don't like it in any other way. On top of it it's very high in calories in my opinion. Or maybe I just haven't found a great recipe. Dragonfruit is the weirdest thing. It…

Our stats are almost the same :) I'm 5'8", I was 184 lbs, and my goal was to lose 40 lbs (actually 39, as I set it to 145 lbs). The only difference is that I'm 41. I have 1 child (she's now 17) and I had never been 184, my highest weight was 174 at the very end of my pregnancy, never before or since. I was so disgusted…
