  • I think I'll make baked fish (maybe salmon), roasted potatoes, several veggies (green beans, red cabbage, squash, some type of soup (we always start with soup), a salad and for dessert pumpkin pie, pecan pie, but I'll also make myself some baked apples so maybe I can avoid having any pies. Thanksgiving dinner went well, I…
  • My favorite: tuna salad. 1 can tuna, 3 servings of egg whites (cooked), 1 tbs mayonnaise and the rest is onion, pickles, cucumbers sometimes, lots of mustard. 300 calories, only 3.5 carbs, 4 g fat, but 55 g. protein!! This helps me keep down my carbs and bring up my protein :) yummy and filling. I had this for dinner last…
  • 1 serving of smoked Gouda cheese, (100 calories) and 5-10 slices of cucumber with hot sauce (my favorite is Valentina sauce, but Tapatio will do it). It's filling because of the cheese, and because of the hot sauce. Drink 8 oz of water with it.
  • Only buy snacks that you are ok eating, and buy a very small amount of those that you try to stay away from. Once you get those (like cookies), separate them into snack-size ziplock bags and store them like that. Either choose 1 serving, or half a serving, etc, and this way you will have one snack, already prepared, (easy…
  • I have the same exact question!! :) I just baked a 5.5 lb chicken, and even though I scanned it, and found it in the database, it's hard to know what a 4 oz serving is (I don't have a scale). I ate a drumstick (not much meat actually), and about a quarter of a breast (2 slices off of one side). I estimated it as 1.5…
  • 1200 felt way too restrictive for me and I just couldn't do it. I started with 1400, and I started logging while I was on a school break during Thanksgiving, but when I went back to school I had to move it up to 1450. I'm a teacher, on my feet all day, standing or walking around, and I'm sure I burn more and I'm hungrier.…
  • I'm not worried at all. Actually I was always my curviest at a lower weight. Right now I'm still about 33 lbs heavier than what I want to be, but as I'm approaching my target weight, my waist is getting smaller, my abs flatter, and my wide hips and round butt will never go away (will get a little smaller, but it will be…
  • Thank you! I'll definitely keep an eye out. I'm a teacher, so we have off until Monday (we had 9 days total, yeay) so I my schedule is different: have not much to do. So far I haven't noticed anything negative. Usually I take one big huge cup of coffee to school (2 double espressos) with creamer and milk, which I'm sure…
  • I bought Stevia. And half and half creamer. Since then I drink much less coffee, which is probably a good thing anyways. Now my coffee is about 80-120 calories instead of 250-300. I'm not loving the taste, but it's a small sacrifice to shave off calories and sugar. Stevia also came in handy during the Thanksgiving cooking,…
  • I love smoothies, and I try to have them for breakfast, other times as a snack. I use a Nutri bullet which makes a big difference vs a regular blender I use any of the following, depending on my mood (sometimes it's higher in calories, other ties it's lower) - soy milk (always) - water (always) - spinach - often - frozen…
  • my lunch was 982 calories. Didn't have dessert because I was full. I'll probably have some later, and eat some turkey and veggies again, so I think my daily total will be close to 2200 :( I guess it's not so bad for one day.
  • Honestly, I have no idea. :(
  • Why don't you get some exercise in the morning and after dinner? Then choose between turkey or chicken - you don't need both. Have a small slice of cheese cake. Everything else you want to eat, just have a small portion of each. Drink lots of water. One day is not going to cause failure in your plan, as long as the day…
  • I'm starting to agree with that. I don't even eat things like sugary cereal, pop tarts, or actual sweets and I'm still way over the limit. What will happen tomorrow, on Thanksgiving day when I will have cranberry sauce with my turkey, and a slice of pumpkin pie along with all the vegetables, soup and a little mashed…
  • Thank you! Well, today I bought half and half creamer and stevia :) Today was interesting. After lunch by that time i also had snacks. I'm not sure if you can see my diary, I think it's public), my sugar intake was in total of what should have been for the whole day. I'm still amazed how much sugar was in everything, it…
  • I made a tuna salad today and it had 0 carbs. I added 1 ts mayonnaise, pickle, onion, mustard, and sesame seed oil. (and of course salt and pepper). High protein no carb. You can even boil a couple of eggs and cut them up and mix them in. I just ate it by itself, but you can have a slice or two low carb bread, or celery…
  • I think this is a well thought out plan with clean food, but like others said it's a bit restrictive. Calorie-wise. I think it would be hard to keep it going, especially if you plan on eating this 5 days a week. What if you added some variations, such as for lentils, another day use red lentils with different seasoning,…
  • I seriously don't understand how this conversation went from me questioning why I go over the suggested sugar intake so easily to someone telling me how I'm having a pity party, because I say I think I'm hypoglycemic, and the "it's my creamer that's an issue". HUH?? by the way as far as I know there is a mild, moderate and…
  • I'm not even responding to this. Have no idea why you're attacking me (pity part, etc)
  • I think probably a week. But you can tell by the look / touch / small if it's gone bad, fortunately it's not like meat where you can't tell.
  • The difference between an anorexic person not not eating and someone trying to diet by starving themselves is this: an anorexic person eats nothing or close to nothing for a long time. A person trying to starve herself will give up eventually. both go into a starvation mode, and not lose weight at first, because the body…
  • No, I don't WANT to be hypoglycemic. Why would I? But I'm sure it's at least a mild form of it. It's been at least 10 years that I figured it out, and since then it all makes sense. The symptoms, how I react when I 'fix' it, everything. I haven't actually gone to the doctor to really test it, but during check ups (a couple…
  • ok, I made some coffee just now. I measured everything and added 2 tbs creamer (fat free or regular has the same amount of sugar) and a half of cup skim milk. The taste is ok, I guess I could live with it. But here's the same question I had all along: how come SKIM milk has 12 grams of sugar in 1 cup? It's not even sweet.…
  • I'm gonna try some of these alternatives. What I meant when I said I don't eat sweets, was that I don't eat cookies, candy, chocolate, ice cream, pudding, nothing, none of these. The only thing close to sweets I 'eat' is yoghurt and sometimes a granola bar. that's why my feelings were hurt lol about the sugar sneaking in.
  • You're right. I was also surprised how little protein I'm eating. I thought it was much more. I guess I mostly eat vegetables, and somehow rack up the carbs with the protein lagging behind. Now I'm consciously trying to eat more protein and less carbs. (I realized today that a can of tuna has 0 carbs but lots of protein)
  • Yes, coffee is sacred lol. I'm Hungarian, and when the Turkish occupied our country a few hundred years ago, they already had coffee. When the Hungarians saw them drinking it, they thought they were drinking black soup. I love this black soup :)
  • By the way I could use some friends! :) this is my 3rd day only. Someone to tell me every day "hey you, watch the creamer" lol.
  • You're right it's expensive. But I drink espresso and I haven't seen flavored espresso ground coffee. I can go drastic and drink coffee with milk (no sugar) but I know it won't be a life style change, just maybe a week.
  • I was actually in shock today when I measured out the creamer I use, table spoon by table spoon. I never knew I used so much. I figured it'd be about 100 calories or so... well, try 300 :) I can cut back some, and use more milk, which I often do, but I know I can't cut it out. I'm trying to make this work, because I gained…
