  • I eat 2/3rds to 3/4s of my kilojoules before 1pm - I don't normally snack in the afternoon and lately have preferred a lighter dinner. This works for me but obviously isn't for everyone
  • I just tried measuring 2 tablespoons of mayo (I don't have ranch) and it worked out to be one shot glass if that helps - other wise try 3 level teaspoons= 1 tablespoon.
  • Before 8am or any time at night when I'm asleep is the wrong time - if I'm woken up by a phone I either tend to go into panic mode thinking there is some kind of family emergency or respond while essentially still asleep and won't remember the conversation

  • I'm currently on 1200 calories (once I convert from kilojoules which is 5021 per day) and am listed as sedentary, however I do wear a fitbit which starts giving me extra calories to eat after about 2000 steps. On a lazy day like yesterday I get nothing extra but so far today I've earned about another 240 calories (1000…
  • My new year's resolution at the beginning of 2014 was to try/re-try new foods every month. To name a few - cottage cheese and hummus were winners, smoked marlin not so much, the kiwano tasted fine but texture was off and fish pie is definitely staying off the menu

  • I don't do low carb but one of the girls I work with does and she found a cheat day which included carbs helped keep momentum
  • I m buying a silver charm for my new charm bracelet after every 5 kilos - the first was a silver bar of chocolate the next (hopefully in the next few weeks) will be either food or sports related. I chose a charm bracelet because 1. I can wear it no matter what size so getting smaller isn't an issue and 2. my first bracelet…
  • If you mean body weight vs food weight - I've been using the fitbit aria - seems accurate and with the added bonus of updating the fitbit and MFP sites automatically via wifi
  • Thank you to everyone who shares this info - I've just been diagnosed with a mild case and working through getting the right medication dosage
  • Thanks - I'll keep that in mind
  • I was 8 when I got my first bike (as opposed to the 3 wheeler) - I never had training wheels but either my mother or grandmother spent time running along holding the bike steady from behind. They would eventually let go without telling me and I would discover I was riding on my own. Always did it at the park so a softer…
  • You could try biltong (spelling?) which is essentially small pieces of dried meat - very chewy and high protein so you wouldn't need much. I don't know where you live but if you can find a South African butcher they could supply it
  • Whatever you do don't put the whole egg in shell in the microwave - as one of the girls at work discovered in the tea room eggs will explode and cause plenty of mess and red faces -
  • Just diagnosed yesterday and start medication tomorrow - But have been losing at an average of 500g (1 pound?) for the last 5 weeks
  • It may just be a reaction to the weather/climate change - we had a storm come through yesterday and summer suddenly became late autumn and a few of us in the office started to crave things like lasagne and snacking on hot toast. Back to relatively normal today and happy to eat the export quality apples straight from the…
  • My spare bed is currently covered in 2 rows of clothes that don't yet fit - smallest at the back with those that aren't too far from fitting at the front where they can be tried on at regular intervals. Next to that bed is a plastic bag for clothing donations - just added a pair of denim 3/4 pants to the bag yesterday.
  • It was Monday mornings but we're doing a Biggest Loser challenge at work so currently Thursdays
  • I've been pleasantly surprised that for the few weeks I've really been using the app that the goal I set myself of 750g (1.5pounds I think) off per week and the calorie level MFP gave me to achieve it has actually worked and I've achieved an average of 800g every week - now just to keep up the momentum
  • Try a walk after work and before cooking or eating - I always find a little bit of exercise stops me feeling as hungry . As well as drinking heaps of water try blending a banana with a cup of low fat milk and lots of ice which is quite filling
  • I'll be going to San Fransisco, New York and finishing in Hawaii for my Birthday in October - so hopefully not too cold
  • I'm doing the same thing as you but in reverse -currently in NZ and heading to the States at the end of the year
  • You need to adjust your settings to allow for fitbit calorie adjustment and they only get updated when you sync the fitbit with the fitbit app
