I’m 52, and weigh 180. 150 is a reasonable goal, I think. I don’t know how else to approach weight loss except to be disciplined, but I’m baffled as to why I find it so hard to maintain. Maybe loosening the reins will help

Some excellent advice here, guys. I’ll up my calorie limit and see if that makes it more do-able. Just thinking of doing that makes me feel good, so that’s probably a good sign.

Great points there, vismal. I agree about the burn out, and particularly that no particular diet is necessary (although eating more vegetables and fruits helps you fill up so you don't feel hungry all the time!)

Good for you getting on this issue early - I'm only taking it seriously now, at 50! My sis and my dad both have it, and I'm hoping to avoid it. :)

Good point. I'm not sure what to do to nurture myself, since I've been plugging every hole with food for so long. I'm going to take a painkiller, go to bed and rejoice in not giving in to temptation.

Love what you say there - that you can actually respect yourself now. I hope I'll get there soon.

Such an inspiring thread! Too many great stories to mention individually, but well done all!

Fantastic! You look so much healthier now, but I must say, you were gorgeous all the way along.

You look so different! I'd be over the moon if I lost 30 pounds. Hang on to it!!

Another option is to add your danger food into your day, every day. I got surprising results when I added in half an ounce of dark chocolate every day to help keep my blood pressure in check - I stopped craving chocolate, and I had a treat to look forward to every day. Who knows? It might help.

Ah, yes, that's a good take on it - I deserve to take care of myself. I wish it felt like it - right now it's just my head that agrees with that.
