  • Really, first post? Did you even bother reading the previous 6 pages?
  • +1 Yes, because now Diet Pepsi tastes like crap!
  • I don't drink diet sodas because they contain a lot of Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) In case you didn't know about the dangers of DHMO. Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities. Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage. Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though…
  • I'll add lots of the hyped benefits of coffee (which I hope are true but not banking on it) are reported to be lost after 2 hrs of being brewed. I reheat mine all the time, but generally I don't have any coffee sitting around for more than 4 hrs.
  • While the exercise calories can be quite inaccurate, the amount IS NOT ZERO. Losing weight is a matter of burning more calories than you consume (CICO, Calories In- Calories Out). MFP is set up to measure your calories in by tracking your food and estimating your calories out by 1) you activity level 2) the exercises you…
  • I agree with this but if a goal of 0.5 lb/week leads to 2040 calories, then you probably have enough to lose to increase to 1 lb, but that is your preference. MFP is not set up to work this way. You can use an alternative goal (TDEE, trainers advice, etc) but MFP is set up to measure your calories in by tracking your food…
  • 2 laps in a hallway and 10 body squats does not burn 490 calories. I'm not clear by this, is 2000 calories the amount you thing burned doing an hour of elliptical (that would be wrong) or your new daily target (1290+710=2000), meaning you burned 710 calories doing elliptical (reasonable but high estimate)?
  • Its fine not to log small servings of raw vegetables. I have a salad everyday for lunch at work. I log the lettuce (baby spinach in my case) the olives, turkey pepperoni, and other proteins I may add and of course the dressing. On occasion, I may add tomatoes, carrots, onions, etc--the amount typically added to a salad for…
  • When I was morbidly obese I thought about it on occasion but could never seriously consider it. I just used the calculator provided above and found that by using MFP, I have done better than any WLS projection. Still have 15 lbs to normal BMI range. You can do it too.
  • As she had gaining weight by eating only once a day but drinking a lot of calories, I do not think this applies.
  • Dry. I have found that my cooked pasta weights twice what the dry pasta does. As I make multiple servings and reheat pasta, I'm not usually able weigh my portion dry.
  • That's basically semantics-you have been "consuming" more than 1200 calories a day before you started to try to lose weight. Eating once a day is fine; consuming less than 1200 calories (or consuming less than 1200 + exercise calories) is not. Although may not be nutritious, you can go back and drink those drinks as long…
  • So before you started doing these injections, you think you were eating less than 1200 calories? Probably not the case.
  • Although neither of these things are harmful, they do nothing to help you lose weight or break a plateau.
  • I lined through all the untruths in the post and bad advise. You do need less calories as you lose weight, but if your target is 1200, you shouldn't be going any lower.
  • You should eat back your exercise calories. Estimate that the machine in MFP is off 50%, so eat start eating back 200-300 calories. Are you weighing your foods? Doesn't matter. Are you logging it? If you were, you would know.
  • Give us more details and I suggest opening your diary. Until then, read this http://www.acaloriecounter.com/blog/why-am-i-not-losing-weight/
  • Not true. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/artificial-sweeteners/art-20046936
  • Had the same problem with Pho a few weeks ago. I think I used a 600 calorie entry as well.

  • I guess it's not funny by itself, but its funny that people in this thread have basically used this excuse or believe in the "naturally" thin. "I'm not like my (grandma, husband, brother, etc) who is naturally thin."
  • You can change the settings to track Fiber. I have mine to track Calories,Carbs,Fat,Protein, Fiber, and Sat Fat. Go to Food, then Settings in a Web Browser. Not sure how to do it from the App.

  • You should only expect to lose 1-2 lbs a week.
  • I had heard of a study saying that being a morning person or a night owl was linked to genetics. I was wonder if that applied to an appetite for breakfast as well. This is what I found after a brief google search. "What determines our desire to wake with the sun or, conversely, burn the midnight oil, is influenced by the…
  • Use a calculator that uses weight as input, increase your weight by 25 lbs.
  • Coffee with sugar and cream could easily have the same amount of calories as a soda. If it fits in your daily calories, either is fine, but coffee has a lot more caffeine. What about diet soda and coffee with artificial sweetener? I do both, but are zero calorie (or nearly), no guilt pleasures.
  • Lots of good advise already. What kind of foods are you eating? Opening your diary will help give you more specific advise.
  • You came to the right place. If you haven't already, check out the posts below. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1
  • You have listened to the advise giving and adjusted your goal. 30 lbs may be achievable, but I would suggest a goal that is clearly achievable. You probably can lose 2 lb/week for a while at your weight, but instead setting a goal based on 1.5 lbs per a week. If that works for you, fine. Measuring with a scale and meeting…
  • As I said in your other post http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/35502509/ Losing weight is a matter of burning more calories than you consume (CICO, Calories In- Calories Out).
