  • Congrats! We're in the same boat... I'm also training for my first half on June 6th! I am a fairly new runner as well... I ran a little bit last summer but then stopped, then started with the Couch to 5k at the end of October. I also am up to 8 miles :-) I'm not an expert, but I agree with what the poster above is saying.…
  • @forest91 way to go! @shanaber whereabouts are you? We've had a couple really warm days here this week, too. @briebee7 I saw your post about food the day before a longer race. What kinds of foods in particular do you eat? I am trying to figure out my plan for my half marathon in June. I have had some stomach issues while…
  • I will usually still try to get out there but maybe do a lighter workout (a shorter run, etc.). If you're exercising and feel like you're going to die, dial it back a notch!
  • You shouldn't do anything more strenuous than walking until your doctor clears you at your postpartum appointment, typically around 6 weeks. I know how you feel though, it's hard to wait! Good luck!

  • Training for a half the first weekend in June! I have never done one before.
  • Thanks, that's helpful! Ugh I don't know how I'll ever run again once I have two kiddos!
  • I have very long hair and only wash it every other day (I get it bleached so it doesn't get as oily). When I am running, I pull my hair up into a high ponytail so that everything (bangs, stray hairs, etc.) are all off of my face when I run and am sweating. Then I just wash my face, take my hair down, and brush it out/flat…

  • I love running, and I have been running consistently (4-6 days a week) since November. I have definitely slimmed down and become a lot leaner, but there are certain parts of my body that it hasn't targeted. I think eventually if I really want to tone up my "problem" areas, I'm going to have to incorporate weights, etc. But…
  • Probably not new, but walking is always great exercise and you can do it really anywhere :-)
  • Dumb question... are we supposed to update every day? Sorry, I'm new. So impressed with what you guys are doing! Also, NO clue how you people in the great white north are remotely surviving. I am in NC and desperate for spring. And I ran outside all winter... no treadmill at home and hard to hit the gym with a toddler. 3/2…
  • Congrats on your baby! That's great that you're already below your pre pregnancy weight! Keep going... I know it can be stressful, but it's worth it to feel great and be a positive role model for your child. My son is almost two and I am now 27 lbs under my PP weight and feeling great
  • @runningmischka Congrats on your pregnancy! Have you already purchased a jogging stroller? I don't have a nice one but I really hate running with the stroller... of course, my "baby" is over 30 lbs! So far: 3/2 = 4.56 miles 3/3 = 2.26 miles
  • Do you feel SORE? Or like it's injured? When I ran too much in the beginning, I ended up straining my calf and couldn't run for a week. Lots of intensive stretching and rest helped.
  • I want to join! My goal for the month of March is 85 miles.
  • Walk during pregnancy; it's great for you! A general rule of thumb is that you can continue to exercise at your current level of fitness once you are pregnant, but you should not be exercising MORE than you already have been. If you are overweight before getting pregnant, you may end up gaining less weight while pregnant,…
  • Thanks everyone! I will keep experimenting with food or lack thereof. It's definitely worse for afternoon runs... maybe I'm just eating too much.
  • I've been running 4-5 days a week and logging every calorie for 57 days now, and I have only lost 2 or 3 lbs. I don't have a ton to lose, either... I'm 5'7" and 137 lbs now. It takes FOREVER, while my friends who I work out with lose more than me. I'm like you... I don't want to get way skinnier, but there are a few areas…
