  • ummm yeah. no. you need to eat. And how did you burn 1164 calories? Because the only time I have burned that much in one day was when I ran a half marathon.
  • I have started making fruit-infused water... more interesting to drink than plain water, encourages me to drink much more water which helps to cut back on unneeded snacking. Also I have found that the more I exercise, the less I want to overeat :-)
  • Wow that was a lot of reading! It is SO hot here in NC, and we had a heat wave this week. I did 6 miles yesterday and it was so hot. I have noticed that it definitely slows me down a bit. In general, I don't like to run after 8 or 9 AM. 6/2 = 4.2 mi 6/4 = 4.12 mi 6/6 = 13.1 mi (Race 13.1 Half - 2:16:51 finish time) 6/9 =…
  • Back! Sort of fell off the wagon with logging here last month, but I completed my half marathon on Saturday and am feeling great! Setting a goal for 90 miles this month. 6/2 = 4.2 mi 6/4 = 4.12 mi 6/6 = 13.1 mi (Race 13.1 Half - 2:16:51 finish time) I was sore for a couple days but feel WAY better now - planning to ease…
  • First of all, congratulations!!!! I would focus more on WHAT you eat than HOW MUCH you eat when you are pregnant. Eat when you are hungry, and stop when you're not. Listen to your body. Provide your baby with as much healthy and nutrient-dense food as you can and limit treats (although everyone needs a treat every now and…
  • PS - congrats!
  • Don't worry too much about the numbers on the scale and focus on feeding your body (and your baby) healthy foods! Don't try to eat at a deficit or eat a certain number of calories... listen to your body and eat when you're hungry. If it makes you feel any better, I spent SO much time when I was pregnant with my son…
  • Yeah I like to use unsweetened almond milk in smoothies because it has so many fewer calories than juice, regular milk, etc.
  • I mean, I'm not sure if she meant for you to overhear or not, but still.... I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who was talking *kitten* about me behind my back. I would be cordial and keep it professional/amicable, but I wouldn't be buddy-buddy.
  • Yeah I just try to find the closest thing that I can. If it's from a restaurant, and that restaurant isn't in the database, I will use something similar from a different restaurant since restaurant portions are usually more generous than something I would make at home. I have even been known to look up something similar in…
  • Congrats! I know it can be tough. my son is two and while I lost a lot of weight right after he was born, that stalled after a few months. It has been pretty slow and gradual. I think being outside and staying very active helps though... I started with lots of walks (with my son in the stroller) and now run with him all…
  • ummm what? Probably not. eta - maybe off of his abs if that counts.
  • For me it's all about getting through the initial difficulty and breaking into the "I could do this forever" zone. Even still, running the first few miles is a lot harder. Once I get through about 2-4, I hit that point where it's easy. Mentally, often long runs are easier for me than short runs because I just KNOW that I'm…
  • Oh hey I'm a girl! Do I look like a boy in my pic? ;-) Thanks for the pointers everyone!
  • That's so great that you have nursed your daughter this long... nothing is better for her (and for you!) Way to go! As for losing weight, how often are you nursing at this point? At 18 months, she should be eating a large and varied diet and relies only a little on breastmilk to meet her nutritional needs. Maybe set your…
  • Are you trying to lose weight? If you're eating 1800-1900 calories a day and still losing 7 lbs in a few weeks, it sounds like you should eat more! Unless you're actively trying to lose, which isn't really clear from your post. I feel you. I'm hungry what feels like ALL of the time, too. I run a lot so I think all the…
  • My honest opinion? It's completely fine to wear a mature skirt or dress, but I don't think women over 50 (or to be quite honest, over 20ish) should wear certain styles... like jean skirts. Those are really for tweens. I think it's more about the STYLE of the dress/skirt, but nothing wrong with showing a little leg in a…
  • Running. Burns the MOSt calories for me. It does suck that I run with my friend and she burns more than me every time because my weight is lower... you burn less and less as you lose weight.
  • They have really good fitness wear at a fraction of the price. Their shorts are my fav! I LIKE their tanks, but not as much as my Nike running tanks just because the Nike tanks are lighter for running now that it's hot out.
  • I just upped my overall calorie goal while I was breastfeeding. I think I started at like 2000 and then gradually decreased it, being sure that my supply was good.
  • I have so been there! How old is your baby? I started walking with the stroller the day we came home from the hospital. It's hard because you can't really exercise in the beginning, but get out of the house as much as you can... and having baby out during the daylight also helps him or her to sort out day and night. Are…
  • So behind on this thread... but it makes me SO mad when people don't have their dogs on leashes. It's the law for a reason. 4/1 = rest 4/2 = 5.32 miles 4/3 = rest 4/4 = 8.51 miles 4/5 = 2.33 miles 4/6 = rest (walked) 4/7 = 6.11 miles 4/8 = 4.01 miles 4/9 = rest 4/10 = 4.02 miles 4/11 = rest 4/12 = 8.01 miles Spent a lot of…
  • @stoshew71 way to go on the marathon! I can only dream of being that fast! @4leighbee I hate the mom /family guilt! My husband is fairly supportive, but when I am sometimes gone running for twoish hours on a Saturday, I can tell it bugs him... and I feel guilty leaving my son for that long, too! I bring him on most of my…
  • Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I'm for sure going to try mixing it up! I had milk today and for some reason that tasted less sour than the half and half. Guess i"m just not a H&H kind of girl.
  • This sounds good... trying it for sure
  • Thanks for all the advice @devilwhiterose ! I definitely splurged for nicer shoes this time around, and it makes all the difference! Good luck on your half!
  • Oh, and welcome/good luck!
  • I really think the right weight for a certain height depends on the individual. Different women have different body structures. I am 5'7" and 133 and am fairly thin in some places, but am still trying to lose a few more pounds. I say take it one day at a time and reevaluate as you get closer to your goal :-) I will say…
  • I generally exercise about 4-5 days a week. I am training for a half marathon, so I have to have some non-running days around my long runs. I TRY to walk on my off days, but it doesn't always happen. I used to ride the exercise bike just to burn extra calories, but now that I'm running 10 miles at a time (and it takes up…
