Yep, that's what I did. I'm pretty sure I had to create a custom exercise for it.

I log it as a negative food. If you search for it in the food database it will come up with exclusive for like -500 calories and then like -300 for older child. I like doing that rather than exercise because it's calories you really really need to eat back.

I log as exercise. My baby is exclusively breast fed and 11 weeks old. I usually log it as 300-400 calories of exercise. I did add it in manually the first time.

ETA: I always eat back my Breastfeeding calories and try not to drop below 1800 calories per day. I also have ample supply. If you have supply issues, always decrease calories gradually.

I log it as a food with negative calories. There are actually many entries in the food database. I prefer to log it that way, rather than as exercise, because then it doesn't look like I'm getting all those other exercise benefits, lol (It's mostly psychological for me, I'm sure).

Exclusively breastfeeding burns approximately 500 calories. That is for when baby is getting all nutrition through breastfeeding. When baby starts eating more solids, or drinking some formula, it's less, usually 200-300 calories. Breast milk has about 20 calories per ounce, plus it takes some energy to make it, but it's hard to know exactly how much baby is drinking, so those are generally pretty reasonable estimates.

I just upped my overall calorie goal while I was breastfeeding. I think I started at like 2000 and then gradually decreased it, being sure that my supply was good.

is it suggested to eat these calories back or take the net loss?

eat back so you don't potentially danger your milk supply.

Past a certain point though you don't need to be as careful.
