I'm guessing by "diet food" you mean foods traditionally considered healthy. For example fruits, vegetables, white meat, whole wheat carbs. First you are going to need to add something to help the taste with all of those except fruit. I recommend olive oil. Next I understand your wife's idea, "healthy food" can allow you…

I drank almond milk for a bit after being a milk drinker for life. Its good but has almost no protein in it. Sure its super low in calories but Milk doesn't have a ton and has anywhere from 8-12 grams of protein per glass depending on percentage. Again it just depends on your goals.

Thank you for the warm welcome. 5lbs to go to my goal then working my way slowly back up

Being able to get drunk off less alcohol is the best benefit of losing weight IMO. Sure people think I'm lightweight now but I just laugh as my wallet isn't empty at the end of the night...or I might be laughing because I'm blitzed...jury's out

Because she was only with me for my Pokemon Cards

Where is the lost weight over Christmas and Thanksgiving thread? Pretty sure magic took place in my instance

Don't quote me but last I read is if you are at a moderate deficit (losing .5-1lb a week) it can be anywhere from 5-30% depending on your macros and how much you lift. Lifting and getting enough protein will help preserve most of your mass. If you are just doing one or the other it is less. Obviously neither will result in…

Sorry but it doesn't help much. Because of the Stronglifts Schedule I can't do a 2 days on 1 day off split. Stronglifts is every other day. Also the article doesn't go into my specific question, will doing a intense yet short cardio session on the days I am not lifting, coupled with my diet make me stall out on strong…

Ask yourself what you want from working out. Is it too look better for yourself? Is it too feel better? Get Stronger? Look better for someone else? All those questions have a different answer.
-
CJ, I added you as a friend. Just shoot me a message if you are having a rough time of things. Also give a bit more info about yourself and what you have accomplished so far and your reason behind making the choice to get healthy.
-
It sounds like maybe you aren't getting enough sleep or calories to support your exercise. How long have you been exercising? Edit* It is really hard for any of us to judge. If yo feel like you might hurt yourself then I would skip the workout. Rest up, eat a hearty meal and get back at it tomorrow.

Stronglifts 5x5 is by far my favorite workout. Its simple, its effective, and it can be catered to just about anyone. Also the app is nice. For Cardio, I golf. walking 18 holes can burn up to 1300 calories

Monday's Menu was 4oz chicken breast and some whole wheat pasta for dinner. 634 Calories Today's menu will be 1 cup black beans 4 cups green beans 1 protein shake with 1% milk. 547 calories

Lol at all the people commenting on how their weightless isn't effortless. Yes we know weight loss can be very difficult for some. As for myself, losing weight or more importantly fat is easy. I don't put unrealistic goals on my self and still shed a lb a week or more when I want to lose weight.... Now gaining muscle…

This worked for me (may not induce same results for everyone) and its to try for motivation. Find someone you really admire physically, then whenever you are feeling unmotivated look at some pictures of them and remind yourself that you can't look like that eating whatever you want.

What if she was eating 4000 cals a day and now eats 1200. She has a lot of weight to lose so its definitely humanly possible. Take off 5-8 lbs for water weight and waste and its not that crazy at all.

This is quoted from your last link. "Atherosclerosis is largely driven by the degeneration of lipids which infiltrate the blood vessel and thereby cause inflammation" Have a good day

I amended that statement a few posts up. Basically said exactly what you did.
-
So basically just a more in depth version of what I stated.

You do realize that the way you google something creates certain results right? Google high cholesterol leads to higher risk of heart disease and post your results then. If you really want to get to the nitty gritty, high levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) can be the cause of some serious problems. Here is an excerpt from the…

Pretty sure most medical journals disagree with you on high cholesterol. But hey what do they know, they are just a collection of studies done by scientists with PhD's. Morons the lot of them.
-
High cholesterol can cause build up in arteries. If this build up breaks apart it can cause either stroke or heart attack. I am 100% correct in saying that high cholesterol is bad for you. It may not actually cause anything to happen, but there is always that possibility.
-
I am going to stick with my statement as it is more factual. High cholesterol is very bad for you. Chances are it wasn't because of cholesterol that you ingested though.
-
Cholesterol from animal products is not bad for you.
-
This is true. If you have the willpower I would recommend weighing yourself once a week on the same day.
-
Just in case it wasn't clear. Start lifting free weights at the gym, with a very slight increase in calories a day. I would add only about 100 from a protein heavy source. This will help you build muscle while mostly maintaining current fat levels. This is otherwise known as clean bulking. I'd be willing to bet you will…

You stated that you can't bring in non factory sealed fluids. Are you allowed to bring in home made food? I'd be interested to see what your daily consumption looks like at work. Also what do you do at the prison? sit by the cameras all day, patrol the corridors (I have no idea how prisons are run...probably a good thing),…

Terrible advice for a beginner. Like most said, join a gym and focus on the big 3. Squats, Bench Press, and Dead lift. I started Stronglifts 5x5 after "working" out in the gym for almost a year. I haven't seen progress this fast doing anything else before it. Its simple, its effective, it can help you "tone", preserve…

bump. Still would like some others opinions. :)
