  • So much emotion, so little logic in most responses. First: What medical problems cause obesity? As far as medical science is aware the only thing that causes obesity is overeating and inactivity. Second: If I am going to pay someone to help me achieve my goals as far as my body is concerned I want someone I can trust to…
  • You're most likely fine. Possibly half of that was water weight but even if its not, depending on your current weight I wouldn't freak out. And to clarify she wants to lose 24 lbs total and has lost 12 so far.
  • If you have honestly been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and are taking your medication and still gaining weight, you need to cut your calories back. Hypothyroidism at most can cause a 20lb weight gain while sticking to your standard diet. Cut back by 100 or so cals a day and you should get back to normal weight. Also…

  • You didn't get the switch to turn off your fat genes. Crappy genetics for you I guess. Mine is located on my bum, right next to the super speed muscle gain switch. Maybe they offer a surgery for it. I love that fad diets continue to exist. People always looking for the easy way. If someone ever does come up with a pill…
  • I appreciate this advice, I've already done both and have a really good idea on what is necessary to lose/maintain/ and now gain weight. I'll probably go back to logging when I start cutting but for the bulk I just find it to be too much of a hassle since I don't plan my meals as much. Basically I just plan out protein…
  • Wow, sorry for not responding to this earlier. I haven't been logging but have steadily been gaining a lb a week. Fat gain is minimal so far but still have 12 lbs to go. Its gotten much easier to stuff my face. I focus on getting my protein where it needs to be and then just eat whatever to get the calories I need.
  • When losing weight I eat more protein than normal. It has several benefits in that if you are weightlifting it helps maintain muscle mass and strength, and its more filling than carbs or fats so easier to feel full on less calories. When cutting I eat 1 gram of protein per lb of LBM.
  • Well never thought I would say this but eating everything is so much harder than I ever thought it could be. I figured since I had overeaten before and gained a ton of weight in my past this would be easy. Forcing myself to eat sucks just as much as forcing my self not to. The energy boost is nice but I feel full all the…
  • Ok I see what you are saying. Thank you for all the help.
  • Ummmm why in the world would you want to get rid of those? I'm not sure which are yours in the bottom right pic but the top two! Very nice.
  • Well I was at a deficit so how could I have gained any muscle. I was spinning my wheels for about half a year doing bro split lifts. Also I started heavier than just the bar with Stronglifts. I could have just been having a bad week too, because yesterday was easy.
  • They are delicious. Though I am guessing thats not what you are asking. They aren't necessary but cheaper than the food it would take to replace the same nutrients. Makes hitting Macros easier. I use bodytech rich chocolate flavor add milk and peanut butter.
  • Doing Stronglifts for about 2 months but that was on a calorie deficit the whole time. Still exhausted noob gains? As I haven't actually gained anything you still think so? Not arguing just confused. Macro Breakdown will be as follows 185 Grams of Protein 330 Grams of Carbs 100 Grams of Fat So my estimate is pretty decent…
  • You are likely eating more than you think. Unless you are weighing your food religiously there is no way to be sure. Even using measuring cups is pretty inaccurate for food products. Except for maybe a very small amount due to noob gains its "practically" impossible to gain muscle on a calorie deficit. The best you can do…
  • Got to 163lbs but I stalled on two lifts this week. I think its time to start bulking. 180lbs at .5lbs a week! Picture as promised, though I'm not super proud of it.
  • If by kill your metabolism, you mean there is a possibility that it would be 5% less efficient than an active lifestyle at most, then yes, yes it can. Your metabolism can't slow down too much or you die. Science yo
  • If I am feeling what I call bored hungry I'll drink water or get a diet coke. Or if I am at home I will take a nap or play video games, or just go out somewhere and window shop. Watching TV is probably the worst for me, I start getting super cravings when I do that.
  • I was just joking about the pregnancy thing. Lol. I know its tough but like I said if you are being honest it really sounds like there might be something medically wrong with you. Good luck.
  • No periods in 8 months.... Are you pregnant? *not srs* Seriously though it does seem like there is something really wrong going on, and there are a few diseases that actually can stall weight loss (they are rare but exist). Especially if you are truly being honest with yourself and have really ate less and really are…
  • That's because literally anyone can easily become a "personal trainer". I would never actually hire a personal trainer but if I were going to, it wouldn't be the ones they have available to me at the gym. I would hire an independent trainer that will meet me outside of the gym, discuss my goals and then come back a day or…
  • Food is good, If you want to keep eating it more than you want to look good naked then that's your choice. Nothing anyone here says will "motivate" you. Or you could just say you are on a winter bulk  Not Srs.
  • It really depends on the person. Some people thrive off of what others had said to them in an effort to prove them wrong. To others it actually completely demotivates them. I actually prefer people critique me over complementing me because I think it lulls me in to a false sense of security. One of my friends is the exact…
  • Also take note, Exercise is impossible to accurately log so I recommend you do one of two things. Either set your lifestyle to sedentary and log exercise or set lifestyle to lightly active or active and do not log exercise. Either one of those have gotten me good results and kept me honest.
  • So far everyone's goal is more or less technically healthy weight loss. I was more commenting on the plausibility of losing a certain amount of weight in such a short period and pointing out the dedication that it requires for 6 months straight. To lose 35+ lbs by summer doesn't leave much room for error. Cheat days would…
  • I wish you all the best but can't help and be the voice of reason. 30 lbs by summer (June 21st) is 1.29 lbs a week or a deficit 4515 calories a week, 35 lbs is 1.5 lbs a week or a deficit of 5,250 calories a week, and 40 lbs is 1.72 lbs a week or a massive 6020 calorie deficit a week. Its all definitely possible but not…
  • I think the next person who asks me face to face how I lost weight I will make up some crazy story and make it sound like a secret. Maybe I'll even say you have to pay to be a part of it.
  • Of course she did. Losing weight is magic. ;)
  • So mine is a little different than most. I was never technically overweight for my height, but as we all know weight and bf% are not the same, and my BF% was much higher than I wanted it to be. I could no longer suck my stomach in so it was flat. I officially had a fat belly. I made the decision to act in November of 2013…
  • This is just because the word Journey is over used here. Why anyone would bother getting actually upset about it is beyond me though.
  • Compared to what? You really don't burn that much doing 30 minutes of steady state power walking either. To the OP, just find the low end of what you would burn for a specific amount of time for someone your size and use that. It takes a lot of energy to lift heavy things. Also Compound movements burn more than isolation…
