Friday was gym day. Saturday taught a private lesson - and spent plenty of time demonstrating, so got some good practice in. No black belt class on Sunday due to the holiday (boo!), so I went to the gym.
-
I took 2 days off to recover from testing and travel - getting back to it tonight - have a new form to learn!
-
Wednesday: Back @ the gym. Intensity was somewhere between nominal and whatever happened on Monday. Energy levels were fine, but I intentionally dialed it back just a little to give muscles more recovery before test on Saturday. Thursday: Final preparations for testing (practice forms, stretching, meditation, walk through…

Monday: Back at the gym. Didn't feel like it, but ... discipline wins when motivation doesn't. Dropped reps a bit at the end because form was starting to break down early. Probably my really bad dietary choices for the day catching up to me. Tuesday: Lower forms review + stretching. Countdown to test: 4 days.
-
Saturday: Gym again - drug the family with. It was fun going back to back. Sunday: Black belt class - practice testing. I was tired, sore, and after a correction, aced my breaks. I feel I'm as ready as I can be. I don't know what next week holds, but... I will go in with a clear mind, and give it my all.

Wednesday: More gym time, and lots of slow kicks.
-
Monday: Gym time. It's a grind, but progress is progress, and the improvements I've made in the dojang as a result make it worth it!
-
Sunday: Black belt class - practiced HARD - broke lots of boards too. Broke through the mental block that was holding me back from my breaks - still 2 more BB classes before I retest - will reinforce this lesson. I'm sore as a #$(*&#%T today.
-
Thursday: Stretching Friday: Unplanned day off Saturday: Teaching in the park - lots of basics and hand techniques + stance work.
-
Wednesday: Back at the gym - ramping back up the weight a bit... Feeling good! Also worked on heel extension and side kicks - I WILL get this thing where I want it!
-
Monday: Conditioning at the gym - doing some minor changes along the way, adding leg press back in, but lighter weights and really focused on pushing heel only (even lifting the ball of foot off the plate) to work on linearity and heel protrusion for side kick. Tuesday: stretching and kick drills.
-
Sunday: Black belt class. Managed to recreate the conditions that caused my issue during the test, started working through the technique and mental issues!
-
Thursday: Stretching, side kick drills. (You may notice a theme here for the next few weeks!) Friday: Conditioning @ the gym. Moving back into previous routine but with modifications on lower body workout, swapped out elliptical for the treadmill, and reduced weight on leg press. Previous routine was killing my hamstrings…

Monday: Conditioning at the gym Tuesday: Stretching @ home, plus side kick drills Wednesday: REST (Daughter had a concert - messed up the schedule.)

-
Friday was conditioning again - started to taper down the conditioning as I approach testing - too much sore muscles limiting flexibility. Saturday: Rest Sunday: Black belt class - practice testing. I went through the whole syllabus of forms + sparring and board breaks. Decided to change one of my breaks, as I'm not…
-

Sunday: Black belt class. Practice test... It was tough, which is good. It's funny how even after months of really working hard on conditioning just how drained I feel after. Performance was strong during the class which is good. But now...
