Being able to zip up my tall boots without the fat getting stuck in the zipper.

This. And...this may go without saying but I'll say it anyway. When I first started keeping track of my food, I didn't know that tracking cooking oils/fats was necessary. It had never even occurred to me that oil had calories (it has about 120 calories per TBS depending on what you are using). So I started keeping track of…

I wear a fitbit flex. I love it, but I think it is important to know that these activity trackers of any brand are not 100% accurate. If you have not lost weight eating back your fitbit calories try only eating back half of the calories. If that doesn't work, try just not counting your fitbit calories as extra calories.

It sounds like you are doing great. That first week is "low-carb flu" week. Like Sabine says, just keep going and you'll feel great soon. When I got back from vacation and got back on the wagon, I went through that again. Moody and achy mostly. That passed and I feel well again. I understand about the not caring about the…

I agree here. I know they say "don't count calories" but I have done Paleo for over a year AND I keep general track of my calories because there are still foods that you can overeat - like nuts and nut butters - and it is possible to eat too many calories even eating Paleo, especially if exercise isn't really a thing for…

@lemurcat12 I think this person is addicted to broccoli lmao: http://paleomg.com/paleo-broccoli-fritters/

This is me. Every time I had a question about Paleo I found myself in a rabbit-hole on Paleo Leap or one of the other sites.

Yes. You will get over it. I got put on Paleo by my doctor too, over a year ago. I only get heartburn now when I drink too much alcohol (or go on a food vacation) and same for my itchy hands and feet - they only happen when I don't pay attention to my alcohol and overly processed foods intake. I love the simple way of…

I have reached a point where I'm not really struggling with food so much, or I have learned to manage my food struggles? Like, last month I was struggling with self control around almonds. So, this month I just didn't buy almonds. I find peace in cooking, and if I keep it simple I have less to clean up afterwards. If I get…

I keep a Kratos bar in my desk for the just in case scenario (which rarely happens). OR I make sure to have a protein and fruit nearby, like nuts/grapes or yogurt/blueberries. I just introduced plain goat yogurt back into my foods and tolerate it well.

That percentage number will change throughout the day as you eat each meal. It is the percentage of what you have eaten so far. By planning out the food for the rest of the day (pre-logging) you'll get a better idea of your macro percentages and you'll be able to adjust your planned menu appropriately.

At first I had a hard time getting to 1000 calories, until I realized that I was supposed to be counting EVERYTHING including cooking oils and beverages. Past that, I don't worry about getting to 1200 or higher because by the end of the day I have hit my nutritional goals. Having said that I have been known to add a couple…

Hang in there girl, I bet there is someone out there who can help you figure this out!

I work out right after work, then make dinner after I get home and out of my sweaty clothes.

As far as breakfast, I usually have bacon, and eggs&spinach and add something here or there. I had smoked salmon and berries one day this week.

@cindytw my daughter is the same way - I wake up super hungry and need to eat right then. She wakes up not hungry and needs a couple hours before she can eat or it makes her sick the rest of the day.

MFP is about counting calories. How many of those calories that come from carbs is up to you.

"Examination of 3-million-year-old teeth and the plant-life in the regions where our ancestors lived also signal that they were eating tubers and other starchy vegetables. The root vegetables many modern Paleo dieters avoid likely played a key role in the original Paleo diet for a number of reasons. Because these plants…

My favorite Disney movies were The Jungle Book and Robin Hood. And I LOVE Disneyland!!!

I stopped drinking sugar and cream in my coffee by having black coffee with a donut. After a while, I didn't need the donut, and the cream and sugar just made the coffee taste like I had dissolved the donut in the coffee which was gross. This being a fitness site, I don't recommend the donut method for very long, or…

I love it too - well, the salmon. Haven't tried smoked trout.

This has often been my question too, especially for zero carb success stories. The answers I have gotten have been "fiber isn't necessary" and so I started doing some research, which is when I learned that there is soluble fiber and dietary fiber and now I'm even more confused than I was before. If soluble fiber exists but…

Yes but it wasn't because of my age it was because I was eating too much and drinking a lot of beer.

I've been a PF member for a few years. It is just down the street from my house and is cheap and clean. I started going a few times per week, mostly to do treadmill and the abs/legs machines. I use it now as an add-on to my other exercise, like if I just feel like I need a good go at the treadmill on incline or the weather…
