  • Badnoodle...welcome! I can't help with your boobage question as I am not blessed in that department! No lifting for me yesterday... After a bizarre brexit related day at work I went to a charity ball and ate, drank and danced myself silly.
  • Agreed, stephie... I'm a stockbroker and it's been a very bizarre day at work today and on no sleep! Still, I have a ball to go to tonight so I shall ban brexit talk from the table and leave it all behind as I concentrate on prosecco from Italy and a decent French red!!
  • Tuesday I did 40 mins combat before work then after work Did a HIIT round and 10x10 barbell curls @20kgs and 10x10 skullcrushers @10kgs. Before work today I went to the gym and I did 2 HIIT rounds and 10x10 squats @52.5kgs. Started doing 10x10 weighed lunges too but got mega cramps in my quads. Had to call it a day...I…
  • Now, beeps....time to recover. Do as you are told :)
  • Did a bodycombat class before work this morning - was a tiny bit late so snuck in during the warm up. Normally, I get there early and make a beeline for a spot in front of the "thin" mirror - I believe that all dance/exercise studios that have a wall of mirrors for you to face whilst going through your agony of whatever…
  • It was my daughter's birthday at the weekend so we went to London. I've not tracked food - there was little point as we had some rather fancy stuff that didn't look much on the plate (volume wise) but was amazingly delicious, and probably had a whole load of calories! Who cares! We did a load of walking as the weather was…
  • I walked into the gym this morning and wondered if I had got the wrong time - whereas it is normally busy, there were, maybe 5 people in the weight room.....and the squat rack was free! So, although I had got it into my head that I would be doing something else, I took advantage, and did SL....and for the first time squat…
  • GVT is German Volume training. Catchy title hey!! Basically you pick one exercise and instead of 5x5 or whatever, you do 10x10....with less recovery time in between. Usually 60 secs recovery. The weights will be lower because the reps and sets are greater but boy do you feel it at the end! Generally one main exercise plus…
  • Not following it to the letter, but basically yes. I don't subscribe to the formal plan, but I do love his food....as do my family so we have the books and i subscribe to his YouTube channel etc. I really like his approach to.the whole thing. As for the football.... Well.....roller coaster, or what!!
  • Not a vacation, but I have recently had 4 weeks out through injury. I deloaded quite considerably when I came back, but found that I progressed back up the weights in no time, so don't be afraid to take the weight off and see how you feel. If it is easy, then up it for the last couple of sets or whatever. No rules!
  • mixed it up a bit today before work - 2 sets of 6 HIIT exercises, and 10x10 squats @50kgs and 10x10 lunges with 12kg dumbells in each hand. Harder than I thought - I want a cushion to sit down on.........
  • Not bad at all, Dawn, and hurrah for cupcakes! I went to the gym this morning - mixed it up (again) and did a HIIT and GVT session - 2 HIIT rounds of 6 then 10x10 of squats and 10x10 of lunges. My squats were at 50kgs which was quite tough by rep 100! Mind you, once I reminded myself that it's not really that long since I…
  • Dawn - looking forward to the next meet...it will be interesting now that you know the format a bit better, and very exciting as it is such a biggie!! I'm geared up for the match too, Stephie - thankfully our bosses are most accommodating and our big screens that we have in our offices for financial news are all going to…
  • Welcome buckwld!! Some serious weights there...! Ninenines, I almost bought the ebook yesterday....am very tempted. After yesterday's double workout day, I am having a rest day.....which means walking plenty of miles to maintain my deficit! Gotta love active recovery! My body would rather like a week of very inactive…
  • After my impromptu session this morning, I have worked out this evening. 15 mins crosstrainer intervals, 45 mins bodycombat and 30 mins various weights stuff. Now waiting for hubby to finish his workout so I can cook and EAT!!!!
  • Due to a mix up in who needed to be where at what time this morning, hubby and I were both running late, and I didn't get to the gym until the time that I would normally be starting to wind down! So I told myself I would just do a 15 or 20 minute HIIT session and then hubby and I are both at the gym AFTER work, so I could…
  • I do enjoy it...just took that step away from the cardio room when I discovered weights. Mind you....i enjoyed seeing my shoulder definition starting.to emerge when I was punching!!! The lifting has definitely had an effect!!
  • So.......went to the gym this morning - squat rack was busy, so I did a bodycombat class instead. I used to do combat about 3 or 4 times a week, but I haven't done a single class since I discovered the joys of lifting. So it was a nice change to get back in there and kick a bit!! I could feel different bits of me working!!…
  • Good on you for sticking it out and staying longer. What a jerk indeed! I did bodycombat before work this morning - something I've not done since I started lifting, but just fancied a change (and the squat rack was full, so I was going to have to do something other than SL anyway!). Quite enjoyed it, and will love the…
  • ^^^ what she said.
  • Oh how I ache!! Sooooooo glad it is rest day today!!
  • Am dead beat! Just done an hour of circuit training and half an hour on the crosstrainer. am waiting for hubby to finish his workout and then I'm having an afternoon of batch cooking healthy meals. Followed by trying to work out how I used so many pans and looking for all my containers to store it in. It's like…
  • Welcome back @pmagnanifit. I certainly empathise with the donut thing. I too can be very "all or nothing" in my approach, when all I want is a healthy balance between the two. Should be so easy, but isn't! Stick with it. A "c" is not so bad. Room for improvement but a long way from failure!! Just done an hour's circuit…
  • I have bought lifting straps for deadlifts. My broken finger is preventing me from gripping properly, so I've decided to give the straps a go.....watch this space!!!
  • I lifted this morning after an impromptu run with an old friend last night... My thighs were screaming before I even started today, but..... SQ 5X5 @ 70kgs. All reps good form so am dead chuffed as this is my PR :-) Row 5X5 @ 45kgs Chest Press.... Had to use the cable machine as the rack was busy. 5/5/5/5/4. @42.5kgs Shame…
  • Oh and the friend I ran with, I haven't seen for months as she lives the other side of the country now.....I put my running kit on and she said....."have you been lifting weights or something? Your back and shoulders look amazing!" Woohooooooo!!!
  • I went for my run last night. Just over 2.5 miles. I didn't need to stop but the last couple of hundred yards were tough! Still, very glad we did it, and I'm encouraged to go out again from time to time. Mind you, after HIIT yesterday morning too, my legs are screaming today. Lifting will be interesting this morning!!!…
  • No lifting for me today - I did do a short HIIT workout this morning using dumbells. It may only have been 15 minutes but it didn't half get my heart pumping! My glutes are already feeling it from squat jumps and reverse lunges so it must be doing it's thing! I'm hoping that the HIIT workouts will help shift some of the…
  • Welcome back, BethAnnieT! Take it steady and you will soon be back where you want to be! No lifting for me today - but I did do a short HIIT workout with dumbells this morning before work.....which I can already feel in my glutes. Hurrah for squat jumps and reverse lunges, hey!!
