What are your current levels? If you need to decrease them quickly (I.e you are over 2000 and higher danger of pancreatitis) they suggest doing a strict no fat diet (realistically keep total fat grams under about 5 a day). Do this for a week and it will have a tremendous effect on your levels. This diet is not a long term…

Add me if you want. I'm down 75 and have 8 lbs to go before I break the 200 barrier...these last 8 lbs have been quite a challenge!!

I'm considering adding a protein shake after lifting or after long runs because I have noticed that after a hard work out my body is often screaming for extra calories that night and/or the next day. Tried using chicken and tuna as my protein directly after but that gets a little old and often doesn't get enough. But I…

I love fruit for snacks. Also he Krave jersey is awesome and a good protein source. Popcorn with Tabasco sauce for a little extra flavor, a small chunk of delicious cheese (rypeneur Gouda is my favorite), a small pickle (lots of sodium though), hummus and carrots and cucumbers, organic frozen mango, the one serving size…

Glad you have set up a meeting with a dietician. In the meantime my suggestions are much the same to those above. What personally works for me and my blood sugar levels is a diet filled with fruits and vegetables (yes...I still eat fruit...it is a good natural sugar and I just try not to go overboard. My rule is only one…

Oops sorry just saw this. I did allow myself some good Meals but also did two different 6 mile runs at the gym which was good and got in 30,000 steps each day walking the strip. Made a conscious effort to eat fruit and salads for breakfast and lunch and then had nice dinners with wine :-) seemed to go ok. Up about 4 lbs on…

I'm going to try the cauliflower mentioned above!!! (I think I"ll try it with the hot wing sauce yum!). For snacks I prefer frozen mango...so delicious (the organic froze mango from Simple Truth tastes the best to me), dannon light & fit 80 calorie greek yogurt (frozen and then microwaved for 30 seconds to thaw just enough…

I did Atkins for about 9 months when I was in college (about 12 years ago). I was incredibly strict about it and had 0-2 grams of carbs per day. (They have since changed the plan to where you can eat more veggies and stuff like that...which is good). You know, it worked. I lost about 80 lbs. It was the first time in my…

Organic frozen mango. (Simple Truth kind from King Soopers...it fulfills sweet cravings and is a great complement to dinner or lunch).

I always treat fruit sugars as 'acceptable' ones as compared to processed or refined sugar. However, I still try to stay within my sugars goal and not go overboard on the fruit. Not all fruits are created equally in terms of sugar either so I try to limit consumption to one serving of a certain type of fruit each day (I.e.…

Thanks for the tips. I think I might try adding some egg whites at breakfast, that sounds like a good option. As far as my dietary restrictions it isn't that I think the healthy fats in nuts should be avoided, rather that I personally need to keep the total fat grams that I eat per day very low because of my past struggles…
