I inject Cimzia and Mtx for RA and stomach hurts WAY less than thigh.
-
300 miles does it for me too. I usually feel it in my hips and knees around that time.

Big fan of foam rolling or dry needling which is like acupuncture. Helped me a ton.

Firstly enjoy the heck out of it. Secondly corral vote for me too. Good luck!!

I have RA also (and lupus) and find that keeping active and eating healthy which keeps my weight low absolutely helps. I don't follow vegan or anything "free" and do enjoy a cheat now and then but I try to eat low sugar, high fiber, healthy fish, limited red meats, etc. I don't expect to live medication free but have been…

RA and lupus here and I am also a distance runner (3 marathons and over 30 half marathons and countless 5Ks and 10Ks) and I find for me keeping active is as powerful a drug as the MTX, Plaquenil and Cimzia i also take. I used to fight the meds but keeping a balance of medications and activity has kept me moving for the…

I work out every day...not the same thing every day but a combination of running, spin, and weights. I find it keeps me sane. I didn't start out this much though so I think at minimum 150 minutes a week is what is recommended (which would equate to 3 days of 50 minutes each). Just my two cents.

I am a huge believer in cross training. My week looks like this: Monday - Recovery run and spin and leg day! Tuesday - Run Wednesday - walk and weight training Thursday - Run Friday - Spin and weight training Saturday - Long run Sunday - walk, spin, weight training. I find the combination of spin and weights has really…

Love to distance run. I've done over 30 half marathons and finished 3 marathons although trained for 5 (broken foot for one and late switch from the full to the half on one). I never ran a step in my life until 10 years ago I decided (hugely fat at the time) to stop living like a lump. Signed up for a 5K and never looked…

Distance runner here and I spend about $150 a pair and rotate 2 pairs. That's $300 every 4 to 5 months, depending on my mileage. Good shoes are the most important equipment to a runner so they are worth every dime to me.

Hi...just came off prednisone about 10 days ago. Its a horrific drug. I tried my very best to keep my food under control and continue my workouts and still gained...i'm in the process of trying to lose it and I know it will be slow. For me the rages I would have out of the blue were the absolute worst. Just overall I will…

Never exercised as a young person...didn't not like it just didn't do anything physical. Started running (very slowly) to help my son out about 10 years ago and got seriously addicted to it. Now I run, spin and lift regularly and can't imagine a life without being active.

I put on a song I love (slowish paced) which is about 8 minutes and stretch. I really try not to skip it. It does make a difference.

I bought mine at the cycle shop that my gym recommended. They knew which cleats fit the bikes. They were like $85 with the cleats

I'm an endurance runner and can run a long time and I also take 3 spin classes a week for cross training. I feel the two compliment each other perfectly and have helped with weight loss/maintenance. If you love to spin, by all means spin.

I used to do 2 shakes but cut back to one as my breakfast and now eat 2 real food for 2 meals and 2 snacks and track here as well. I just actually like my morning breakfast shake due to the convenience and would just find another shake to drink if i didn't Isa. I work out early am and have my shake on the way to work but I…

I work out 7 days a week. I don't run consecutive days and I also vary the intensity of my workouts. If I feel like a rest day I take it but haven't since Christmas and before that since 11/27. I also feel guilty when I have a rest day and this schedule seems to keep me from being overtrained. It is off season though and…

Spin is fantastic and I also love it. You don't need spin shoes...they help but not required. Also take the class at your own pace. If you have to go slower and less intense, that is totally fine. What I would not suggest doing is waking out of the class part way. Its disruptive to the rest of the class and the instructor.…

Biggest pet peeve is when you're in group fitness class...shut the heck up when the instructor is teaching. Its just rude to the class and the instructor.

I hired a trainer so I could learn from her and also have my form checked. That was 5 years ago and I still lift religiously. I switch things up so right now I'm doing a all over day, a leg/shoulder day, and upper body only days. I'm an endurance runner and I've seen a huge improvement on my running form from lifting. I do…

I train hard in the very early am fasted and I love them. Just thought I'd add a different opinion.

I don't fuel either for halfs...usually nothing under 15 miles or so. Overall nutrition for sure is key and having something before the run (i usually do a slice of wheat toast and a smear of peanut butter) should be enough. When I do use gels I prefer Accel Gel.
-
I only use map my run to actually map runs.
-
Also a runner and I spin 3 times a week and weight train 3 times a week. Currently I am training for a marathon (NY!) but usually keep my distance to half marathons.
-
I too love to spin and use it as my cross training for my running. I usually take 2 half hour and 1 hour class a week and also find it exciting and an excellent workout.
-
I usually don't gel unless I am running double digits. But if you are fasting and feeling you need the support, its whatever you feel you need. If you're doing 8 and feeling you need something then go for it.

I have RA and SLE and take methotrexate, Cimzia and Plaquenil and I refuse to take prednisone (took it at very high doses when first diagnosed and wound up with a serious infection). I also am a distance runner currently training for my second NYC Marathon. I've done 2 other marathons and about 40 half marathons in my…

In Jersey and I make sure I am on the road by 5am.

I also am marathon training and unless you're still base building 20 miles a week is not enough to safely complete the distance on race day. I also lift 3 times a week to support the muscles I need when running. Its as important to have a strong upper body and core as it is legs to run successfully. I used to not weight…
