My surgery date is May 7...sleeve, and I would be happy to have you as a friend since we will be going through things at much the same time. I don't have to do a 2 week liquid diet preop but have a high protein, low carb diet from now until the last 2 days before with clear liquids. I am trying to do all I can to lose…

Still haven't heard. I was told by one place 30 business days and another 15. I have been sick in bed for the past 4 days with allergies...perhaps now a sinus infection since its not going away on its own. I hate giving up sickdays at work that I want to use for surgery recovery. If I can't stop coughing they will never do…

Thanks for the help everyone. I am ready to get on with this.

I am reading up on the surgery and trying different products to find those I like. So far, I am doing ok with most although I am not fond of some of the vitamins I have tried. What else would you (or others) suggest I do to prepare for life AFTER surgery? I thought I should practice drinking across the day instead of…

Forgive me for jumping in as I am still pre-op but I am reading all these posts in order to educate myself on each step of the process. As a public librarian I am encouraging all of you to see what exercise dvds are available for free loan at your public libraries. Our small library has dozens of them and of so many…

@IslandSneezerooo , I have been trying to change my eating habits over the past 6 months, and hope that I am moving in the right direction. I joined the fitness center near home for a full year and previously had only paid up for 3 months at a time. I am lazy on the activity and knew that this step was going to be major…

It is time for us to look to Easter, and all other holidays as something other than a food binge and an excuse to step away from healthy. Now is the time for us to see the non-food portions of each holiday and begin to appreciate them more. Time with family in activity rather than in eating is still possible. When the rest…

I am pre-op but hope to be scheduling a surgery for VSG this spring. I only have 7 lbs to lose to prove my commitment to the surgeon, but must do so by April 8. I am trying to crunch down now and get it done! I have been heavy most of my "adult" life, although was able to lose on weight watchers 30 years ago and actually…

That was for Renae, NOT rename . Auto fill at it again ..
-
Rename, I wondered if you are trying to cut back too much too fast. You are keeping really active so will need protein to keep your energy as well as carbs. Athletes add carbs when training more. Get used to the one shake as a meal replacement and move to two when closer to surgery. I am still prop but I would advise…

Luna, I liked your comment about the great looking liver. Can you ever imagine that you could feel proud of a comment such as that? Now I want MY Doc to think the same thing about my liver.

I could use the encouragement too. Sign me up!

My primary care physician prescribed anti-depression medication for me to take when I broke down crying at a checkup. I was so frustrated with my weight and how my body ached all of the time from carrying around this extra 150-175 pounds. I started taking it, but noted no real effect. When I began the WLS program and…

I am in Indiana, in the Southern part where we are accustomed to milder winters. Can't say that for this year, but I know it has been bad most everywhere. Looking forward to the spring...warm weather, and hopefully setting the date for my own sleeve surgery. Spring is right around the corner everyone. Hang in there.…

StephanieDedrick, have you called your surgeon? Does he/she know that you are consuming so little? You can't be feeling up to doing Anything with this kind of intake and the vomiting too. Feel free to friend me. I am still pre op but will also be having the sleeve, perhaps in April/May. I can't speak from experience, but I…

Thanks. I will be watching for it.

loribuckner1, I had someone tell me that he couldn't believe that anyone would do this to themselves, just in order to lose weight. He is a former wrestler, and told me how he could gain or lose weight "at will" when he wanted to compete at a given weight level. He is thin and always full of energy. He somehow doesn't…

bonzaburns, you mentioned the book with recipes. I am beginning to collect such information in prep for my spring surgery. Is this something that is provided only to your doctor's patients or is this published and available through internet orders? Being in the US, I may not have access to the same distributors that you do…

Thanks to everyone for their help. I forgot to check here the last few days. I am happy to hear that many of you have reduced and eliminated medications. I am hoping to change life insurance policies soon, and thought that I would be down in weight faster than I was able to do on my own. Surgery will help the process, but…

Thanks. I intend to participate in the monthly support group that my surgeon's office runs here in town. (Jasper, IN) but many of those who attended when I attended my first meeting were post op by over 3 years, so were smaller than I am. One hope that I have is that as I lose the weight I will be changing seasons and may…

I am pre op but wanting to adjust my mindset to my post op eating routine. I am also new to MFP and the whole idea of calorie counting and macros as well. If the majority of my food will be concentrated on protein, then I would think that should be over 50% right? How many calories might I be consuming post op? cabennett99…

I too am looking for support as I prepare for surgery. I think I will be doing the sleeve this spring. I have another 15 lbs to lose before they schedule me and dietician appts each month until April. I have lost 19 pounds so far, but I am battling with eating enough calories most days since I am trying to be good (making…

Thanks everyone! I need to head out to work. Keep posting and I will check back when I get home from work. You have helped me to focus a bit. Have a great and successful day!

I am working towards an initial weight loss of 35 lbs. By April to qualify for bariatric surgery. I am 5'11" with a BMI of 48. At 56yrs old I have spent a good amount of my adulthood packing on the weight. I have cut out snacking on chips and eating out FAR less often. My trips to McDonalds is now limited to an unsweetened…

Thanks. I am trying to get a variety of foods, but my vegetable choices (of those I like) are limited. But these tend to be low in calories so when I add them, they come in such small numbers that it doesn't amount to much but fill me up so I don't eat anything else!. I started to use some "diet" products and wonder if I…

I am really struggling with this too. I am over most days and never really knew that until I started tracking on MFP. I suppose in itself, that has been one of the most helpful things for me. I do my best to watch this, but could use some tips besides giving up processed foods, which I am already working to do. Time is…

Way to go shale000 and Rob! I am taking inspiration from you tonight as I go in to prepare my dinner tonight. Keeping on will get me to a bragging spot too. You deserve the success and the accolades after your hard work.

Holly, you have a golden opportunity to help your BF while also helping yourself. You can support one another and set an example for your BF to follow as you follow the plan. Stay in contact here and use the group to build you up. We all have setbacks and this is a great place to come when you need to refocus. YOU CAN DO…

I have over 150 to lose and have begun losing by tracking here. I am hoping to get weight loss surgery in the spring, however that will still require discipline and tracking to get where I want to go. Some view the surgery as cheating, but I know that I will still be working hard and needing the support to be successful.…
