I'm in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. The great thing about that is most of the half marathons & marathons are mostly down hill because they start them up in the mountains & we get to run the roads or trails down through the beautiful canyons.

Hi Everyone. So in a past life (15 years ago) I ran a couple marathons. Then I took a break for health reasons. (Did y'all know that you can't stay healthy living off graham crackers & chocolate chips, getting 4 hours of sleep each night and popping out 5 babies in 8 years?!!!) Now that my kids are older and I'm healthy…

Wow! Those are some SERIOUS rewards! I love your idea. I'll think about it and post mine.
-
I'm joining the party! I'll do 40 miles this month, running 3 days a week.
-
Ok thanks. I'm not so good at navigating MFP on my phone.
-
I'll start with 40 miles, spaced over 3 days a week. I haven't been running for about about a month. I'm signed up for the Ogden half in May. I'd better get myself moving again!
-
Thanks for your thoughts. I have been on the same rough path and have come to the same conclusions. But you articulated them so much better!

For myself, I am just saying no refined sugar. Like white sugar, corn syrup, etc. I do use raw agave and maple syrup & raw honey. I know these are technically refined also, but I think they are still pretty much whole foods. If I said "nothing sweet at all" I would have totally bonked after a few days. When I first…

If you go to other exercise calories burned websites you can see what they say and then decide which estimate you like best. That's what I have been doing. I found that MFP is about 200 calories higher when calculating a 10 min mile run at 45 minutes that the other websites. Oh, and kerbeya1, I set my baseline of calories…

I have been suspicious about this for a while. About a year ago I was on here for a month. I faithfully logged every bite and every bit of exercise. I ate back the calories it says I burned. I didn't lose a single pound but maintained nicely. I am guessing that it was overestimating what I had burned. I got back on here…

Thanks for the good example and encouragement! I have done really great so far, and feel much better, but I know I could lapse back very easily. It helps to communicate with like minded people on this site.

Are y'all having better success if you stick to 1200 calories no mater how much you exercise? In the past I have been exercising just so I could eat more, but I am not seeing much progress with the scale going down. In order to lose 2 pounds a week I should only eat 800-900 calories, which is completely not desirable. In…

Hormones. Possibly you should get them checked. Read the book "What you doctor may not tell you about premenopause." This helped me a lot. Also address underlying emotional issues. They may be subconscious. Until you clear them, your body will hang onto the weight - using it as a shield. This sounds hokey, but it made a…

Anyone still out there? I miss hearing from y'all!

How is everyone doing? It's Friday night and traditionally we eat pizza or make treats or something. I'm trying to keep myself distracted and not think about making a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It's cold and slightly snowy here. I'm really wishing for a quart of hot chocolate! Probably I'll go look at my favorite raw…

Woo hoo rdbaslie. Proud of you! May the force be with you today! :)

Hey yeah, sheraisawes. You don't have to share your diary, but I'll tell ya what. Since I made my diary open, it has made a huge difference in the choices I make. I think of all my friends here who will see if I mess up. Yesterday, something made me really sad/ mad and I was sitting in the grocery store parking lot…

One day done, and I didn't eat any candy - even though my kids had it spread out all over the living room floor trading and comparing their loot. Of course it is easy at first because I'm super motivated. I hope this resolve will last. Hey RD I wonder if you could substitute something instead of the chocolate. So you don't…

Perfect. Thanks!

Just for today, I can: 1. Fast breakfast and lunch. 2. Dinner that is in line with my eating standards 3. 64 oz water

Yes! I'll join the party! I've always wanted to be able to brag that I LOST weight during the holiday season. Hee hee. Thanks for the challenge!
-
I'm at 1200 also. I feel hungry a lot. I'd love ideas that will help me feel more satisfied.
-
Welcome! Good job on your progress so far. Very inspiring! I hope you find success here!
-
Oh! That sounds perfect for me. It is so demoralizing to see an overnight 4 pound gain. How do I do the calculations or find the app, website, program, gadget?
-
Thanks Runagain. I am so, so impatient. I want fast drastic results. I'll rember your example & try to stay consistent. 10 pounds in 2 months is better than the 0 in 2 months that is on my record because of my erratic approach.
-
Thanks Graymanstole. Good advice. Yeah, I will enter everything accurately. I find that knowing I have to put down a mess up for others to see helps me choose to not mess up.That's why I decided to get on here again, but this time I need to find friends.

Hello everyone. I am 46 and need to lose 30 pounds. I only seem to stay on track for about a week. The minute I see progress, I blow it all. I've been losing and gaining the same 4 pounds for a year now. I'm hoping this place/people will somehow help me stay committed and break through my psychological barrier. I'd be…

Yes. I'm in. Thanks for starting this!
