Ran 4 easy miles. Story time: I was at the Home Depot yesterday getting shelving to organize my daughter's closet. I'm loading the stuff into the car, and the guy at the car next to me says something about how it would be a lot of work to install the closet. I agreed and drove off. Then the penny dropped on what he…

@lorrpb -- Was that supposed to be "rowing"? That's what I was going to suggest. Rowing would be a workout too, I guess. ;) The Concept2 rowing machine website has an excellent rowing log. It also has fun challenges to participate in. If you have access to a newer machine (PM5) and a smart phone, you can Bluetooth download…

I pay attention to calories in and calories out. I pretty much eat the same way I always have, just less of it. I usually avoid simple carbs because they seem to spike my appetite (which isn't true for everyone). I exercise in ways that I enjoy, mostly endurance sports which increase my "calories out" in the short term,…

I've been taking the weekend off from training. Dropped the eldest off for his first year in campus, then returned home to immediately start renovating his room. We've got the first coat of paint on the walls and half of the new closet system installed.

I just downloaded the StrongLifts app. And I'm gonna use it.

Congratulations! That's great news!

Rest day from running. Strength work complete.

12 lbs (194 to 182). I'm usually set to 1 lb/wk but had several weeks switched maintenance calories for summer road trips. So that's actually a little more than I would have expected.

I usually just have mine plain as a side veg. But I used to have them topped with chili for a meal. And topping them with curry is brilliant and must be done soon.

I set myself the task of reading the entire thread with the thought that if I succeeded, I could handle the pace well enough to actually join in. It took a week, but I did it! So here I am. Basic stats. 5'10", SW 248, CW 182, GW 165-170. I've been an on-and-off-again runner for 20-odd years. My current goal is to break my…

Ran 3 easy miles this morning. Stopped at a newly lengthened multi-use path on the way down to my parents' house. Nice, shady path that crossed the river a couple times. It was a little crowded, but it cleared out as I got further from the parking area. A nice change of scenery.

I eat at or over maintenance some days. It's part of my eating plan, not an uncontrolled binge or a "cheat." 65 lbs down. 15 to go.
-
Ran intervals (6x400). Playlist included Bruno Mars, Metallica, Adele, Pharrell Williams, Bee Gees, and George Clinton (feat. Snoop Dog).

3m easy on the treadmill. Ran in between two very fit young women and didn't feel like a lumbering elephant by comparison. Winning!

A couple of months back, a new acquaintance (who hadn't known me at my heaviest) told me a sexist "fat" joke. In front of his own pre-teen daughter, no less. When I objected, he said, "What? It's not like YOU'RE fat?" I was briefly speechless. But only briefly. I learned two things: 1) It was an expedient way learn exactly…

I used to transfer it into a different dish, which was definitely a pain. And I often had to do it in batches. If it's cooked for a while, then some liquid has likely evaporated out, so pre-weighing the ingredients might not be exact. Probably close enough, but if I'm going to weigh, I'd like to be exact. This is why I…

Ran 3 fast miles, followed by some lifting. Hubs joined me at the gym, which is rare, so that was nice.
-
Granted. But... mommys (sic)? Fries?

This means high school or younger. Universities start much earlier than that.

I have this image in my head of someone tripping and falling onto a donut, mouth first. Oops! It was an accident!

Open water swim in the rain. Beautiful! And the hot shower afterward was equally fabulous. :) @Djproulx, thanks for introducing me to the lake!
-
Welcome!

New bathing suit arrived in the mail. The shelf bra is sufficient. I would not have predicted that. It would not have been anywhere close to enough 65 lbs ago.
-
This made me LOL. :)

@BettyM1017 -- The Garmin 920XT. So far, awesome. I will test the weirdness of swimming with it tomorrow. :)
-
I suspect you are correct. I noticed that it rolled to 3.01 before I hit the stop button, and felt a flicker of annoyance.
-
Ran an easy 3 this morning. I know that it was both "easy" and "3" because I used my new Garmin!
-
@Djproulx - This one is just at the gym (not a handheld; sticky pads on hand and foot, but still bio-impedance). Just going for comparison to previous results. I plan to get a BodPod or Dexa scan when I hit goal. There's a Yale facility that does Dexa, I think, and Central CT U has a BodPod. Yale also does the tented BMR…

Well, if she's defiantly gotten smaller, who are we to argue?
