I relate. This was one of my biggest motivators -- inconvenient size for sports and for life, and related back pain. I started at 42G. 60 lbs later and I'm at 36DD. Things are much improved and I still have 20 more pounds to go. I'm hoping I'll see some more reduction, but at least they're proportional to my body now. My…

This happened to me for the first time on the treadmill last week. Patchouli. I'm fine with the smell normally, but it really made it hard to breath normally.

How's it working out so far?

Be sure to bring your old shoes with you. They can tell a lot from the wear pattern on the bottom. And ask if you can take a jog up and down the block in the ones you're trying on. Happy hunting! :)

Yeah, I add extra workouts if people want to join me. I don't invite them into what I'm already doing. I need that time and I like doing it alone.
-
Well, that sucks. Good luck with the search.

Ok, if wine is out, maybe a sauce of lemon juice, butter, garlic? And if you need more bulk, it would taste good with or over pasta or rice. Or just more veg on the side?

I always get men's running shoes. I wear a 10.5/11 women's, 9 men's.

@MsHarryWinston -- Nice! Bring rain gear. ;)

I'm not reading a binge pattern here. Just regular, garden variety mindless eating. Eat off small dishes. No eating out of boxes and bags. Weigh it and get the calorie count before eating. Plan ahead for your full daily calorie budget. Don't leave space for random eating, but do incorporate foods you like. Make eating too…

There's a book with that title (Mindless Eating) about the psychology of food and overeating. Interesting reading. My library had it as a downloadable audiobook.

Glad to help. It took me a while to figure out what worked for me. Also, some people use anti-chafing stick, like for running, which helped me a little, but not enough to prevent it from happening again. It was great for protecting existing sore spots though.

1. Very soft, synthetic, fitted shorts. 2. No underwear. It just wrinkles up. :-/ 3. I cut the end off my yoga mat, folded it to 4 layers, and use it as a cushion.

There are lots of variables. Go to a local running store, and let them help you. You'll pay a bit more than just buying whatever, but your legs will thank you.

In Scotland near Glasgow, we hiked from Balloch to Helenburgh. Train to and from. Beautiful. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/balloch-helensburgh.shtml

I work at home and have kids. It's pretty much gym clothes or outdoorsy stuff. I'm not a dressy or particularly feminine person anyway, and don't have much need for dressy clothes. But I'm about to go visit a friend for a week and I know she'll want to go out, so I just got a nice black tank to go with dark slim jeans,…

What about sautéing them in a garlicky wine sauce, like they serve with mussels? With lightly wilted spinach and crusty bread. :)

30 minute row (6300 meters), followed by a little strength work. My sneakers are still wet from yesterday's run, so I wore my new dress shoes to the Y. ;)

I'm going to start doing Fartlek Fridays. Fun idea. :)

@caramelgyrlk -- That made my day. Thanks. :) Raining today and I didn't want to bring my phone, so ran for time. Used to be that when I ran from my house, I could just barely reach the bike path in 15 minutes, which meant I'd then turn right around to make it a 30m run. I got there in 10m this time, and got 10m on the…

July 5: Today: 185.8. So close!

5'10", started at 248, now 186. I have a few different ways to judging where I want to be. 1. BMI. I do think it's valid for establishing a range. It's a wide margin, but I'm taking the top line on "healthy" seriously, if only so that future insurance physicals show me to be a low risk : 171. 2. Body fat: This is hard to…

Rowed 30 minutes, about 6,100m.

Another one: That my body was just a shell to keep my brain in. It never occurred to me that taking care of my body through nutrition and exercise is a way to be kind to myself and that it's a necessary component of a good quality of life. My body and brain are now integrated. (When I first wrote that final sentence, I…

I believed that my emotional state was inextricably linked to food. Sad? Eat. Stressed? Eat. Angry? Eat. Now I can see that they don't have to be linked. I find that exercise actually improves, instead of masks, my mental state. Food is a way to treat myself well -- for short-term fueling, satisfaction and satiety, and…

Agree that the right eating pattern is individual. I do have breakfast (actually, two: 100 and 200 cals before and after workout). Breakfast makes me hungrier IF it's carbs, like what you ate. Protein or fats and carbs keep me full for quite a while. Eggs and toast. Yogurt, fruit, and nuts. I'd rather have nothing than…

@AliNouveau -- Thanks! Have you tried a rowing machine? It might not aggravate your heel.

Ran 3m on the treadmill again. Don't love it. Must start hauling myself out of bed earlier to beat the heat. Bought a couple of new items of clothing for a trip in two weeks. Everything I bought was a size M (down from a 1X) or a 12 (down from 22). I was still the weirdo who had to explain to the fashion-conscious shop…

My initial weight-loss goal was 185. I've since lowered it to 168, but I'm really close to hitting that first goal. I'm bouncing around between 186 and 189, depending on my salt intake. Just gotta stop with the restaurant food... :#

Resistance isn't important. Lower the damper (which is the name of resistance lever) to between 3 and 5. Row steadily. And watch those form videos.
