  • Is it possible you have two accounts?
  • Your activity level setting is for how much you move separately from exercise. I have a desk job and don’t move much (fewer than 3,000 a day), so I’m set to Not Very Active. That gives me my base calorie level. I also exercise vigorously every day, which I add into my diary, and that gives me extra calories.
  • 6m run, followed by leftover veggie pizza for lunch. Dinner is burgers and home fries, so I’ll have no problem using up my extra calories today!
  • 6 miles in 1-day-old shoes and a 21-yr-old hydration belt. :) Twenty-one years after my first race, I’m still learning about weather-appropriate clothing. I left the house and almost went back inside to get another layer because I was chilly. But, no, chilly at the start means comfortable half-way through. Sure enough, I…
  • My goal this month is to finish my training plan—a tweaked version of Hal Higdon’s Intermediate 5K. I’ve replaced an easy run and a rest day with a bike and a swim. I’ll end up at about 45m run. My goals for the year are to set new PRs in the 5K (<29:02) and sprint tri (<2:00:34). * March 10: O’Shenanigan’s 5K - 33:41…
  • Coconut ice cream in a waffle cone.
  • I like to think I’m participating in this challenge vicariously through all of you. But I’m really just lurking. :) March total: 40.1m Eta: Just came home from the LRS with new shoes—Saucony Kinvara 9’s, to replace my aged 6’s. Crazy bright orange and red.
  • Just returned from the LRS with my fancy new shoes— Saucony Kinvara 9s. It’s tempting to run today, but I think my legs need a day off, so I’m heading to the pool instead. The plan is 400m of 50m intervals, bracketed by 100m warmup and cool down.
  • B- Fried egg, Canadian bacon, and half a sesame bagel. Milky coffee. L- Protein shake with milk, yogurt, and coffee (back-to-back meetings all day and no time to eat!) D- Chicken parm sub, fries. Beer.
  • When I left the car, it was warm and sunny. Just got back to the car after 4 miles, and it’s cold and raining. Just made it back before it really started coming down. Glad I decided to duck out of work early! I’ve also just officially worn out these shoes. My left hip starts to act up when they get worn down, and it…
  • Even the scale hasn't moved in a little while, my body is still changing. When I buy a new shirt, I now need to make sure it's sized to fit my shoulders properly; whereas my breasts used to be the problem. Boot-cut jeans are no longer more flattering than skinny jeans, because my hips and butt are narrower.
  • I thought it was going to be the calamari I had for lunch, but it was over cooked. It was actually this, which I had for dinner: https://www.budgetbytes.com/2018/01/sheet-pan-bbq-meatloaf-dinner/ I didn’t have BBQ sauce, sweet potatoes, or broccoli on hand, so used ketchup, russet potatoes, and green beans and carrots…
  • 30 minutes on the bike trainer, then a little strength and balance work). Then lunch out. I’m thinking calamari.
  • B- 2 fried eggs, whole-wheat toast, salsa. Milky coffee. L- Plain whole-fat yogurt with blueberries, sliced almonds, and fiber powder stirred in. Water. S- Cheddar, deli turkey, Triscuits, banana. Black coffee. D- Sheet pan meatloaf, potatoes, and broccoli. Water.
  • Chicken breast sautéed in salsa, and Mexican rice and beans (with diced tomato, corn, jalapeños, etc., simmered in chicken stock), all topped with shredded cheddar, avocado, lime juice, and cilantro.
  • 6 x 400 on the treadmill. I started the fast intervals at 10:00m/m, but by the end was up to 8:57. Pretty fast for me.
  • I like the Oxo scales. Good features. Very reliable.
  • B- 2 fried eggs, whole-wheat toast, salsa. Milky coffee. L- Toasted cheddar and turkey sandwich, banana. Water. D- Chili. Diet Coke. S- Triscuits, cheddar, turkey.
  • 30 minutes on the bike in the basement this morning. The pre-workday stress relief was useful. Chili’s already simmering on the stove, in preparation for a busy evening of child chauffeuring.
  • I suspect it’s based on the idea that it’s really easy to ingest lots of calories from fruit in smoothie form. So they want encourage whole fruit, and discourage smoothied fruit. And that got turned into a misunderstanding about mushed-up bananas. That’s just my theory. No evidence whatsoever.
  • Another vote for a rower. I'd go for the Concept2. I do, however, REALLY like my bike trainer. It kept me going all winter, and now I'll tuck it away in the closet and take the bike back outside. Then again, I did a strength workout this morning with a 40-lb bag of dog food, a 12-lb bag of brown rice, and a gallon jug of…
  • I'd just start with your GP, or a sports medicine specialist.
  • Please don’t mess around with this. If it’s numb even after you stop the exercise, I’d go to the doc right away. I lost feeling in the outside half (vertically) of my right leg 10 years ago. It’s never returned. I delayed seeking treatment, and the nerve damage is now permanent. I have poor muscle control in my right foot,…
  • Always Be Training. Signing up for recreational athletics sets off a domino effect of healthy behaviors for me. I exercise consistently, which acts as an appetite suppressant for me, and I start thinking of food as fuel, which heads off emotional eating. I’ve competed in running, triathlon, and indoor rowing over the last…
  • Great job! Love the confidence! I’ve never worn a two-piece, but recently I’ve needed a smaller bathing-suit, so I’ve been lap swimming in a sports bra and running shorts. That may be as close as I ever get! :)
  • B- Fried egg on whole-wheat toast, topped with Canadian bacon and cheddar. L- Whole-fat, plain yogurt, banana slices, and sliced almonds. S- Triscuits, peanut butter. D- Italian Wonderpot (budgetbytes.com)
  • Rest day, but played around with some strength and balance work in the basement, near the pantry shelves. - Reverse pull-ups (jump up to rafters, then lower myself down) - Dips (on the stairs) - Incline pushups (workbench) - Step-ups (stairs) - Squats (holding a big bag of dog food) - Single-leg deadlift (using a huge…
  • Just finished dinner. New and easy recipe. Curried-yogurt chicken, with roasted red peppers, green beans, onions, and sweet potatoes. Topped with lime juice and cilantro. Many raves from spouse and kids.
  • He’s sort of a genius. I’m glad he’s using his powers for good. :) Enjoy the swim! And maybe a sauna after!
  • 6-mile run @ 12 m/m. It was 38degF, overcast, and windy, so a little chilly. I neglected to bring a warm hat, but was otherwise OK (2 long sleeve tech shirts, thin leggings, thick socks, knit gloves, and running cap). And I had perfectly hot coffee in the car when I finished, thanks to the spouse, who tucked my travel mug…
