I lost my Costco card so had them make a new one for me. Which required a new photo. It’s super grainy and pixelated, but my face... it’s all angles and cheekbones. No double chin. No puffiness. I didn’t know I looked like that.

Swim accomplished. 30 minutes, 1200 meters. Also went to the dog park with the puppy. There was much chasing, fetching, sniffing of butts, and disgusting tennis balls. And on a cool, sunny, breezy day. So great!

B- Toasted turkey and cheese sandwich, milky coffee L- Yogurt, diced apples, sliced almonds, cinnamon. D- Too much Sicilian pizza.

Indoor rowing? Really fun and intense.

Lol! Yes, yes, I will. I’ve got my gear packed and have checked times at the pool. Thanks for the butt kicking. :)

Just popping in to remind you that the meat is very often heavily salted. Don’t freak out if there’s water weight gain over the next few days. Enjoy!

Yesterday was supposed to be a fastish 3-mile run, but I put it off too long and ended up doing 30 minutes on the bike trainer in the basement. Today was supposed to be swimming, but I did the fastish 3 instead, plus 10 minutes of rowing, just for grins. Tomorrow, swimming, unless I continue this flip flopping of scheduled…

I’ll add in something that’s helped me. When she does decide to come to my parents’ house for the holidays, I keep an index card and a pencil in my pocket. I write up a bingo card with all of the horrible things she is likely to say. Each time she hits one, I celebrate by toasting with my husband and taking a few minutes…

They sound charming. Keep fighting the good fight, and be nice to yourself. My sister seems to have decided to not come visit until either she’s lost her new excess weight or until I regain mine. This is a bonus. Narcissism from a distance is the best kind of narcissism.

I’m lurking on this thread, but wanted to contribute to the discussion about the psychology of endurance. The podcast “That Triathlon Show” is put out by ScientificTriathlon.com. Episode 17 is on this topic. He interviews a scientist who’s done studies on the affect of pre-workout mental and physical fatigue on perceived…

The only goal dates I use are race dates. I know I have a race in April 28th, with a goal pace, so it keeps me on track with my eating and training plans. I do keep track of weight-related milestones. My last one is a healthy BMI: 15 lbs from now. I’ll focus strictly on fitness milestones after that.

Outside: Nothing. Indoor bike: Podcasts, either work or fitness related. Treadmill, easy run=More podcasts. Treadmill, structured workout=Music with an appropriate cadence. Race warm-up=Music. Current list includes Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Metallica, Pharrell, random 80’s techno.

30 minutes on the treadmill. (10 easy, 10 moderately fast, 10 easy.) AND coached a manager through an employee melt-down at the same time.

Enell. I’ve worn it from 44G to 34G. I wouldn’t be running without it.
-
I’ve worn an Enell from 44G to 34G. I will not buy anything else. I run and do triathlons in it, even the swim part. If you want sexy, this is not that. This is pure functionality and physics. And I’ll put this out there: I think different sports bras work well for different types of breasts. I’m 47, breastfed 2 kids, have…

Djproulx, your pain cave doesn’t look very painful. ;) 5-mile run. This is my long run so it was slow. But I realized that my LSD pace is exactly what my race pace was three years ago. So that’s cool. I also learned that sticky buns with bacon are not a good pre-race breakfast for me.
-
B- 2 fried eggs, whole-wheat toast, milky coffee L- 1/2 a PB sandwich on whole-wheat, banana, slice of cheese, more coffee D- TBD. Date night. All I know so far is that I’ll be having a beer or two with it.

3-mile easy run on the MUP. They recently extended our section, and it was stupidly exciting to run on it for the first time. And a little creepy — it goes through a carnival ride storage area. I kept looking for homicidal clowns.

It’s a habit. It’s built in to my schedule. It’s not a decision I need to remake each day. Motivation isn’t required. It’s self-care. I feel better in the moment. I feel better in the long-term. I’m a better person when I do it. I enjoy it. I participate in recreational athletics and it’s a fun hobby.

I have this issue. I’m never going to like what I see. I set quantifiable goals for myself: * Smaller than size 14 non-stretch jeans. Done. * Reach a low-risk 1:2 waist to height ratio. Done. * Reach a low-risk body fat percentage. Done. * Reach a “normal” BMI. Almost there. After I hit that last one (another 15 lbs), I’ll…

I used to do this sort of building power test on the rowing machine when I was training for races. There’s no faster way to incapacitate me for multiple days. It’s a killer. Rest up!

B- plain whole-fat yogurt with blueberries and sliced almonds, much black coffee L- toasted turkey and cheddar sandwich on whole-wheat, banana or apple, probably more coffee D- Hambake casserole (bow tie pasta, Alfredo sauce, 1 egg, diced ham, broccoli or spinach, and mozzarella on top), water or Diet Coke. Left-over pie…

Swimming. 900 yds, alternating fast and slow laps, with the occasional breaststroke lap thrown in for variety.

I searched for a food scale thread so I could post this. Our vet has said we should feed our puppy 1 cup of food in the evenings and 1.5 cup in the mornings. Turns out, one cup of dog food weighs about 100g, so I’ve been measuring it that way. I zeroed out the bowl just now, and eyeballed the amount before weighing it, to…
