  • It doesn't matter where the sugar is from, your body processes it the same. The benefit to fruits and veggies is they have fiber, vitamins, minerals, etc. The only way you'll gain weight is eating any food in a surplus. Sugar, unless you have a medical condition, isn't worth tracking, in my opinion.
  • I just really love ice cream....
  • The first part, okay sure, you might not retain as much muscle and look as lean had you exercised during weight loss but not everyone is looking to be super fit. Some people just want to get to a healthy weight range and that's okay. That's a start. Bolded...That's not true at all. I've been maintaining my weight for over…
  • I'm just reveling in the irony of this.... You realize you're arguing with people who HAVE done their research involving you know....scientific articles and studies not Women's Magazine and who have successfully lost weight the same way anyone else does....through a calorie deficit. Honestly, he's not arguing for the sake…
  • I weigh as much as 3-4 lbs more from one day to the next depending on a plethora of things. Lack of bowel movements, excess cortisol from stress/lack of sleep, sodium, water retention from exercise, about a week before my TOM my weight spikes up. From morning to night I gain like 5 lbs, some days. You're looking for a…
  • I think the thought behind it is when you eat veggies, fruits, lean meats you can typically get more per calorie then other things. Now, that doesn't disregard the fact that calories still matter and I think that's where people get confused. Calories in vs out will always be true but many people find adding a large variety…
  • Is snacking between meals causing you to go over tour calorie goal? If it isn't, there's nothing wrong with it. If you're getting hungry, what are your protein, fat, fiber ratios in the meals you do eat? I find if I get a good amount of fat and fiber, I'm more satiated then with something carby. It's an experiment to find…
  • I never tracked sugar and would regularly eat half to entire pints of ice cream before bed, commonly exceeding my sugar goal by hilarious amounts and lost 53 lbs and reduced my body fat from 35%+ to 17%. So, no...sugar will not stop weight loss. Calorie surplus, that will stop weight loss.. I think it's important to find…
  • Oh ya no blech hated that one. Also the strawberry cheesecake one was gross, too xD. I haven't had those but I've had some protein bars that were like chalk. Microwaving for 15 sec or so helps, too :D
  • Haha. It depends on the flavor. I think quite a few of them are blah but I can stand the cookie dough and cookies and cream pretty well
  • Age 26 Female Height 5'3.5 " Starting Weight. 170 lbs Current Weight 120 lbs Goal Weight don't have one Daily goals: Calories 1900 (to maintain) Carbs. I dunno wherever Fat at least 50g Protein 100g minimum Sodium don't track it Fiber 25g minimum I'm not currently exercising due to injury but I use the TDEE method based on…
  • Then you probably lost muscle along with fat last time? Also, why was there a last time? Are you making lasting changes that you can adhere to for after you've lost weight? To retain your muscle, it's recommended about 1g per pound of lean body mass in protein and aresistance training program (ideally weightlifting but…
  • Great news for you... your metabolism only stops when you die. Everyone is different. It purely depends on your logging accuracy and your stats. For me, I work part time 3 days a week but haven't been exercising due to an injury and at 5'3.5 " 120 lbs I can lose on 1700 calories. If you find issue with losing, tighten up…
  • Talenti, popcorn, Girl Scout cookies, strawberry cheesecake, Ben & Jerry's, peanut brittle, chocolate in any form, sometimes celery and hummus if I'm not in a sweet mood. Pickles, poptarts, peanut butter on anything
  • My vibrating thing never resulted in weight loss but it helped me in other ways!
  • Stop going by Google and track your own data. It's a fine starting point but individuals will vary. Like I'm supposed to maintain at my activity level on 1700 but I dont. I maintain at 1900. Maybe that's user error but it can go both ways. Also if you are not losing at your desired pace, yes, it means your intake needs to…
  • I did a good structured lifting routine with weightlifting, squats and deadlifts, etc when in weight loss. Inevitably, I lost a little booty but then I bulked/recomped and BOOM got booty back. There is a genetics factor to it but some form of resistance training is your best bet to retaining.
  • Eat at night! I've had upwards of 1k calories in Talenti before bed. ;) I got to goal and beyond okay, I think... *checks to make sure not gremlin*
  • I've got two kids and a part time job. I mostly do my training in the evening or mornings before the kids are awake. Sometimes I'm sleepy and don't feel like it but I push myself to do it and 9/10 am glad I made the effort. I started at 170 lbs back in June 2013. Just gotta make time, keep pushing, and never give up. Even…
  • I'd like to gain around 10 lbs or whatever puts me close to 25% BF, then cut back to 120 lbs ish or whatever lands me back around 17-15% BF depending on when that is so I can do it all over again. But that's assuming my back heals decently fast once I know what's wrong. ;)
  • Whoot! Happy almost birfday!
  • Add me to the "miss yer face" bandwagon /creepy
  • Meal timing is irrelevant. It's total calories. So skip breakfast if it works for you. I typically don't eat "Breakfast" until noon. I find it keeps my hunger under control and like you, I enjoy eating a majority of my calories at night. :)
  • Oh okay. Guess my 53 lb loss while eating ice cream, fast food, and pizza while drastically reducing body fat and gaining fitness was all a fluke, then. Thermodynamics is broken ladies and gentlemen. We can pack our bags and go home. That's a sweet blanket statement that helps no one. It absolutely matters "how much". Now,…
  • Do you have a food scale? Calorie dense things can add up, if you're eyeballing. Do you take cheat days? If you're gaining weight, I wouldn't be upping calories. I'd keep them where they are and tighten up logging first, if that's an issue. I know excess cortisol from stress can mask loss but not over a length of time. You…
  • No. Excess calories are stored as fat. Period. I wouldn't consider what I have abs but my carb intake is fairly high. Other posters are on key. Fat loss is predisposed to come off where it may, so don't worry about "spot reduction". Focus on getting a good amount of protein, losing weight at a moderate pace and ideally…
