  • Another weekend successfully navigated - well done everyone. I even abstained when my gf was drinking! I kept myself busy and did lots of exercise which really helped, but must admit one moment when someone was drinking red wine on TV almost made me crack - I was literally salivating. Fortunately gf didn't have any in and…
  • :anguished: Seriously though, well done! Though if you can't bring yourself to do that then freeze it in ice cube bags/trays and use for cooking when needed.
  • I had my second planned day off on Tuesday when out for a curry night, which means I'm now due to be AF until at least 24th Oct - that time includes at least one pre-planned social pub visit which will be the real test. Otherwise all is going well - as well as 19 out of last 21 days being AF, I have also gone without…
  • As mentioned I did end up having a "few" drinks on Tuesday - actually a lot, but still a lot less than I would normally. Was really annoyed with myself though - we ended up not going out in the evening, so felt like a complete waste of one of my two days off during current AF period. Back on it now though, and have a few…
  • Failed at lunch today. At Caribbean restaurant and all set to go AF but girlfriend wanted a cocktail and they were 2-4-1 - she could only have one as she was driving so thought might as well! Decided to turn today into one of my two allowed days off this month since we're out this evening anyhow.
  • Today is day 9 AF for me. Planning to go through to 24th Oct, but allowing myself 2 days off if anything comes up.
  • Hi @Orphia - inspiring how you've kept going so strong, and will really help me as I get back on it properly once again. I may have gone a bit overboard this week by also cutting out caffeine (only intended to reduce but have only had one cup of coffee in a week) and severely upping my running (only because my bike broke),…
  • @Orphia - Chetna is the name of the author. She did really well on a famous baking show over here (Great British Bake Off) by putting lots of Indian/Eastern flavours into traditional western puds/cakes. Can't wait to try some of them out - probably stick to the savoury bakes for now as trying to be healthy at the moment!…
  • I use that app to track days I exercise and don't drink alcohol/smoke/consume caffeine. Really useful - a bit of black magic how they come up with the % score, but I'm forever trying to beat myself so quite useful in that way as motivates me over time.
  • Day off, pub lunch and no booze. Go me!! @Stephaniev51697 Considering your day I think you did very well. As you've pointed out you had 2-3 glasses less than you would normally, didn't need to bother your son and even managed to turn down a glass in front of you - that's some strong willpower and multiple wins. Well done!
  • @FeelinFooFoo Well done chucking in the e-cig too. Like you the two are linked for me so it's not too difficult for me to not smoke when not drinking. I've decided to go cold turkey rather than via a vape as can imagine I'll be on that for years if I do - the real test will be the nights I do have a drink! I'm now on Day 6…
  • Ingredients/nutrition for Aldi "Nuts, Pumpkin Seeds & Fruit Protein Granola"...
  • I like the Aldi Protein Granola (Nuts & Fruit version) - as mentioned above not overly great if you looking to control macros but I like it. I tend to make it with semi-skimmed lactose free milk which is lower fat and sugar than normal whole milk. Something like FUEL Protibricks are low fat - I hate normal weetabix type…
  • Hi all - this group seems like a wonderful resource, and self-care is definitely something I should do more of especially with a few stresses in my life at the moment. Bought myself two new cookbooks recently, so going to make some time today to flick through those, (though I rarely if ever follow recipes I love reading…
  • Hi all - a bit late to the party for September, but having a bit of a reset after a very unhealthy/boozy few months. Have been alcohol free for 4 days and planning to be alcohol free until (at least) 24th October. I'm allowing myself 2 days off in that period - only if specific things/events/outings come up and not just…
  • Not entirely sure how this all works, but love the idea of a zombie badge. Sending a request your way @serindipte Do I need to challenge you 1-1, or is there a group challenge we can do?
  • Had always planned for my dry jan to last until 7pm tonight (when meeting friends at pub) but managed to stretch it out an extra hour! I then had 4 pints of lager - hopefully won't regret in the morning! Well done to all of you that stay completely dry - given I also had one drink on new years day it was 29 days for me,…
  • I've a pub night out tomorrow - originally had intended to drink (planned before decided to go dry) but right now 50/50 whether I will so will see how I feel tomorrow. Either way I'm planning on being dry after that until 16th Feb when I'm going to a beer and cider festival and definitely jumping in the deep end!!
  • Decided on a nice long run after work today (half marathon distance) as part of my marathon training so fortunately now too tired to even think about drink, let alone head out!! Now just need to find a distraction for tomorrow evening.
  • I think it was just so rare for me to actually have a free weekend evening (let alone two) that I just went into auto-pilot Have to admit that before I caught myself I was really looking forward to a decent pint of beer! Anyway, I'm sure I'll find alternate entertainment.
  • Normally have my 4yo stay with me every other w/end, but ex had to swap so have free weekend and whilst bored at work caught myself planning where I could go out and who I could coax out with me - Ooops!! Luckily didn't get as far as actually making plans with anyone but was just so natural that had nothing to do Fri/Sat…
  • When you have an unexpectedly free Saturday night, and you get a message via mailing list of local pub saying they're doing 2-for-1 drinks all weekend to celebrate "getting through January"!
  • Tough weekend! Friday night was at gf house with one of her friends and the two of them were drinking and we had indian takeway so that was difficult. My gf originally said she wouldn't drink for the month in order to support me - was her insistence even after me saying I didn't mind her drinking. On the day she said drink…
  • I personally go completely the opposite way and go for simplicity - mine is an £8 digital one from Aldi. I go for consistent rather than accurate readings as I'm more concerned in the trend and how I look/feel will tell me when I reach my ideal weight rather than an arbitrary number. Having said that I do miss my previous…
  • :) I used to be forever correcting these entries, (though now I'm running lots I'm not so worried about my sodium intake so have given up)
  • It's 9:30am on a Sunday, and I'm up and about and don't have a hangover!! Not only that, but I've got up, caught up on my emails/social media etc, watched some TV, had breakfast, been out for a 7.5k run, done my stretches and had a shower. Something very odd is happening...
  • Sending positive vibes to everyone for the weekend. Even with my brother visiting I've managed to resist temptation today. It's now 9pm and going to bed otherwise would definitely indulge in a glass or two, (was on the 6am shift today and have 3 toddlers in house who will no doubt get us up stupidly early tomorrow).
  • Out for mum's birthday last night, and back to house with everyone drinking champagne/prosecco. Was an odd feeling being the sober one for once and really did fancy a drink, but I abstained and was so great to wake up without a hangover this morning, so can actually have a productive day!
  • Also training for my first marathon (in April). Can't work out if I'm more scared or excited!!
  • @KentuckyAHA If I'm consistently under my calorie goal, I tend to give myself a "refuel". I tend to look at my rolling weekly calorie average rather than be a slave to the number each day, so if I've been consistently under for a number of days I know I can splurge without disrupting overall progress. Be a little sensible…
