I fear your trainer is pushing you toward an injury. The trainer needs to push you beyond what you think your capabilities are but this sounds excessive. If you are a beginner the trainers primary job is to teach you proper technique to avoid injury. I'm guessing this is some poorly trained young stud that thinks everyone…

Nope, sugar is not addictive. Sugar is not the cause of obesity, overeating is the cause of obesity. High calorie foods makes it easy to overeat, but is not the cause.

Movement does burn calories, I never said otherwise. Counting steps becomes an obsession for many and is not necessary, counting steps does not burn calories. Exercise should be a particular activity for the purpose of fitness. The steps you take in the normal routine of your day are calculated into your activity level and…

In order to make relevant recommendations we would need to know your goals. Nothing is particularly healthy or unhealthy eaten in reasonable quantities.

Tea may be beneficial to your health in some measure but it has nothing to do with weight loss. Water, tea, coffee, are all essentially water and affect weight loss the same.
-
Counting steps doesn't burn calories. If what you are doing is causing a loss of 1/2 pound per week then continue what you are doing. If you want to eat more, you will have to find the time to get in more exercise.

I highly doubt he will appreciate your efforts. It takes enough time each day to work on my own shortcomings without trying to solve other people's problems.

Anyone running to lose weight will fail in the long term. You restrict calories to lose weight, you run/exercise to improve your fitness/health.

I'm addicted to food, if I stop eating, I will die. He, he, snicker, snicker. Seriously, some foods are more desirable than others but "food addiction" as most people use it is nonsense.

Just yesterday I opted out of the restaurant menu addition to the MFP app. It was in the latest app update. The location services portion of the app will consume additional battery power and I very seldom eat in any chain restaurants. Even when traveling I always seek out small mom and pop restaurants that wouldn't be in…

Oftentimes failure is a result of setting too strict of a plan and unrealistic goals. Anyone should be able to do the 1/2 pound per week plan without even exercising. Since you didn't tell us how you failed, my guess would be that you created a plan that was doomed to fail from the beginning. You need to make a plan that…

More rest days or alternative exercise days.

Want to point out to anyone considering responding to this thread; the OP has Ataxia which "is a non-specific clinical manifestation implying dysfunction of the parts of the nervous system that coordinate movement" and also uses a wheelchair. shakybabe, I can't answer your question but wish you good luck.

Keep up the good work DonLanger! The most important thing is to avoid injury. I'm only 60 but I sure don't recover as fast as I used to.

A number of things will increase your heart rate on a given day; calorie deficit tired/poor sleep dehydration

Strava for runs and cycling, Runkeeper for walking.

Stay with the hills. Running in hilly terrain is a form of forced intervals.

Welcome to the forum. Are you diabetic? If not, are you aware that it isn't necessary to follow any particular diet? All you need to do is eat less than you have been.
-
You can eat anything you want, you only need to control how much you eat.
-
I've done a little spelunking, no opportunities near home.
-
Without knowing any specifics, the result of eating less will be somewhere between losing weight faster and dying of malnutrition. You should eat the recommended amount in order to have sustainable weight loss and lifestyle.

That is the formula I use. It appears that most apps and fitness trackers use gross calories and are highly inaccurate at that. We don't want to record gross calories because that number includes the calories you burn just being alive. The net calories is the amount burned in addition to your base metabolism.

I fill my half gallon thermos with coffee in the morning and drink it all by the end of the day. I don't bother to log the calories, I only use one spoon of sugar and no cream for the entire half gallon.

452 days now. It would be maybe twice as much but I occasionally vacation where cell service isn't available.

Everything I eat gives me gas to some extent, eggs don't affect me worse than anything else. Intestinal gas is part of normal digestion. According to Dr. Michael Roizen, MD: "The average person passes gas about 14 times a day (Howard Stern's guests were not included in statistical analysis). We all produce 1 to 3 pints of…

It is true that cravings are your body needing a particular nutrient, not to be confused with your mind having a desire for a succulent delicacy. For instance, people that chew ice often do so because they have an iron deficiency (anemia).

How old are you really? Your profile says 24 and your post says 18. One of them is a lie.

Yes, you need rest days. Muscles are torn and damaged when you work out, they heal when resting. Strength is actually gained on the rest days, not the work out days.
