  • headlamp and run against traffic so you can see the car coming at you. If you think something bad is going to happen pull your phone out and pretend to call someone, that should scare most weirdos away. Also depends on where you will be running, bad area or crazy wildlife area probably not a good idea without a partner.
  • Roads along the lakeshore either white lake or Lake Michigan. Though this time of year if its windy at all you cant run along the lake and then its the roadside or bike trails.
  • Its been a while since I was at a spinning class but an hour of intense cycling was a but kicker and would have to help slimming down, just from the fact that you can eat more in the day due to burning 500 to 750 extra calories.
  • If your going to weight lift buy a cage, a bench, and a set of olympic weights. with those three things you can do almost everything and do it safely as the safeties on the cage will keep you from being crushed if you miss a lift (you won't need a spotter).
  • I would do a type of alternating plan upper body heavy bench press 3-5 rep range for 3 sets heavy bent over dumbell rows 3-5 for 3 sets incline press 3 sets 10ish reps seated pull 3 sets 10-20 reps dips as many as you can do lower body squats 3 sets of about 10 for maintenance due to the running other lower body exercises…

And if you don't plan to compete there is no reason for an expensive bike. I would practice actually changing a tire several times just so the first time is not out on the road.
  • Generally switch between In the Moment and the Pretty Reckless with some extras thrown in like Welcome to the Black Parade and such.
  • I have the opposite problem, running on the treadmill is harder for me and I feel it more in my lower legs. I think my stride is off when I am on treadmill and even though I am running slower than I do outside it works the muscles differently.
  • schwinn airdyne is relatively cheap used and you can alternate between legs and arms as the primary work. The cheapest method though is a bike trainer that other people have posted about but it only works your legs. Rowing machines are also nice just really expensive, about $1200 last I saw on Amazon for a good one.
  • A half will be the farthest I have ever run in one go. I have done several adventure races but they were mostly biking with some running and kayaking/canoeing stuff. If this goes well a marathon will be the next step (have to catch up to the wife she has already done one). And running in the cold is so much better than the…
  • running outside in the winter is awesome if you have never tried it. Quick and you don't have to drive to the gym and that cuts out a lot of time.
