  • The key to 5:2 is that you can have pudding tomorrow! As orlcam says if we could manage on the daily grind of 1200 we wouldn't be here and learning to eat at tdee is an important part of the 5:2 wol, yes it does feel like alot but its what we will be eating at maintenance so its good practice. I sometimes have 1500-1800 on…
  • I've not fasted since last wed and feel a little out of control , hhave been visiting my mum and have a rotten cold so not swum for a week either, but feel a bit more human now and going to fast tonight (on night shifts) and swim after work. If it's anything like last night it'll be a doddle to fast as it is very busy at…
  • I used to look at food labels for fat content and now its for fibre!
  • Well, if the kids are in bed.........
  • I'm beginning to think its partly a volume thing, a. couple of days eating as I used to and back to normal, but if I don't go one day it then becomes.a cumulative problem. Going to try fibre gummies x
  • Good positive attitude carb, I am prone to having little slips and turning them into landslides, so 5:2 gives me leeway, but am visiting my mum at the moment, you'd think she was feeding an army all the baking she's done! And roast lamb and fresh bread. Oh well, got 2 fasts in and if I do go bonkers I can squeeze another…
  • 3 days and counting, even trusty popcorn hasn't helped, nor the black bean Brownie. :\ :s
  • Managed a FD despite visiting a friend and baking a cake to take with me, fortunately a lower fat yoghurt cake so not too many cals wasted. Did get a bit dizzy at yoga, maybe miso before I go would be an idea, I definitely sweat alot, standing still is really hard work. Happy fasting x
  • What a great thread! I am using back pain and stress as my motivation for exercising, my nsv is beginning to appreciate my body for what it CAN do, and not just beating myself up for what it can't do. I am gonna use "if hunger is not the problem then food is not the solution" Thanks everyone x
  • Ha this is a problem for me too, I also work shifts and have a bashful bowel that only likes my own bathroom. I take psyllium daily and have started using chia seeds in recipes, I tend to have at least one egg on a FD but generally eat veggies too, also trying to re educate myself after 20years of low fat dieting and using…
  • Going through the boards here reassures me that I am not alone, I also arrange exercise with friends, I will let myself down easily but its harder to let a friend down, then hopefully having exercised I can refocus, I know exercise makes me feel better mentally and physically but I try to use a few motivational tricks…
  • I agree with Karen, you've lost 10lbs! As you have been working out hard you may have gained muscle, are you measuring yourself? Often the tape measure moves when the scale doesn't . Also give yourself credit for the health benefits of fasting
  • Good fast, nice swim and night shifts finished, its raining and I am justified in snuggling and snoozing on the sofa o:)
  • When you are a regular dieter and used to restricting to 1200 then almost 2000 does feel like a lot but that is supposed to be averaged intake for a woman and if you are under 30 years then it seems reasonable and it is to maintain. .I know what you mean about the fluctuations tho, I get excited when I weigh after a fast…
  • Wonderful, I will definitely use this First fast today/tonight as on nights
  • What activity level are you using? I put sedentary and still get 2300 cals, but am 200+lbs. It does seem alot tho when you are used to restricting to 12-1500 a day, but thata why 5:2 is so doable. I'm 5 weeks in and 20lbs down
  • The great thing about 5:2 is that you can have those days if you need them. Just get back into it tomorrow. Try not to feel guilty (we wouldn't be here if food wasn't a complex emotional issue) and carry on tomorrow. That pork belly sounds lovely and almonds and avocado are good for you x
  • It's interesting to see how many of us like the day off aspect of fast days, Good non weight indicator of loss foamroller, you made me chuckle with your three pencil skirts in three sizes, I must start tracking inches as well as kilos, I am starting to go from barrel to pear shaped again, there's a waist in there somewhere…
  • I set my food days to maintenance, I can get alot of food with 2300 cals and feel quite virtuous if I come in under 2k, but always try to get to 1500, as like ariel if I restrict too much I don't lose so much. But I have to track, it would be nice not to but I can go off the rails if I don't. Good luck :D
  • First FD of week today, late but food has got the better of me for a few days and I need to show it whos boss!
  • I usually exercise on fast days and feel fine, I swim for 30-60 minutes. The first 10 lengths are hard, but to be honest they always are fast or food day.
  • I am an equal split between constant craver and emotional eater, and I too skip breakfast, i have pints of tea, skimmed milk that is measured, fibre supplement and keep very very busy. Hunger comes in waves and does pass, once you get to grips with that it gets easier, and you do start to enjoy fast days, I didn't think I…
  • I find fast days are almost days off from obsessing about food. I know exactly what I will eat and dont worry anymore about it, but food days are harder, I still log every thing but as above my mind will fix on something and not shut up till it gets it. I know I'm an emotional eater am working hard at only eating if hungry…
  • Same as above, however I set my weightloss as zero and activity as sedentary, which gives me over 2, 000 still to play with. I like upsetting the computer in the same way I like to ignore the satnav lady ;)
  • Yes for small goals, I have achieved first one by getting my BMI under 40! And logging every thing ideally before I eat it to be sure I really want it
  • First fast of week is going well, had a very good swim, it almost seems easier on a fast day. Looking forward to a big plate of steamed veggies o:)
  • Super speedy fast day today, only 150 cals so far with milk and half veg frittata, think just a protein bar and bed! And a lovely swim where I found my rhythm quickly, negative cals!
  • Hahahaha, might have to change my pic to one of my cats :p second fast tomorrow, debating sat as well, I have alot to lose
  • Tomorrow's fast will have veg frittata, spinach mushrooms onion and red pepper baked with 2 eggs, 180 but sometimes have half, psyllium husk for fibre, vitamins Chicken salad and lite dressing 100g chicken 180 again, 200 ml skimmed milk for 70 cals and an apple 70. Sometimes 30g porridge oats as like to go to bed full.
  • Hi, new to the group but experienced faster. I definitely use the one day away from pudding mantra :D I am fasting today and thurs this week but it changes depending on what shift I'm on. I still count on food days cos otherwise I would scoff packets of choccie biscuits (I sometimes plan for that so I don't get deprived)
