  • I just use yoga videos on YouTube. I get bored too easily to stick with a dvd or two and I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. My favorite is Yoga with Adriene but she isn't specific to plus sized, but you can make adjustments.
  • I lost my boobs but kept a lot of my belly, so I'm not feeling any sexier naked, that's for sure. clothes look better, nekkid looks worse.
  • when motivation wanes, I have to rely on determination, tenacity, stubbornness and commitment. It also helps to look at success stories, write out my goals again, review my list of 120 or so reasons to lose weight, look at old pictures of me or read a weight-loss book of some sort. Trying a new recipe also helps me b/c…
  • yeah, I should have prefaced that with the fact that it took us 3.5 years of really actively trying to get pregnant after 10 years of using no birth control whatsoever, so we haven't been too concerned.
  • last year my doctor recommended vaginal contraceptive film and I'm now a big fan: http://www.vcfcontraceptive.com/whatisvcf.html
  • cheese, both shredded and a block. I could apparently stuff a whole lot of shredded cheese into a 1/3 cup container. And cereal. 28g is laughable as a serving. and to think of the amount of cheddar goldfish crackers I used to pop into my mouth, as if they were made of air. Once I started weighing, I realized they aren't…
  • be open and honest with him about the type of support you need from him. Maybe he's noticed the weight gain/struggle and your lack of calorie counting and thinks he's being helpful. Running off and crying will only confuse him. Communicate. With words. With him.
  • My aunt said this once...she said "why can't fat people just start smoking cigarettes so they'd lose weight?" Yeah, she weighs about 90 pounds and smokes like a chimney. I smoked in my teens and 20's and it never helped me to lose any weight.
  • lost a bunch of weight in my 20's and boobs still looked great lost a bunch of weight in my 30's and boobs still looked great lost a bunch of weight in my 40's and I have big boob sacks that are now empty. I should have kept the weight off one of those first two times, but I wasn't losing it in a healthy, sustainable way.…
  • you look fantastic! thanks for the inspiration.
  • I'd rather just eat a piece of fruit than drink it in a smoothie. If I'm going to drink my calories, I'd rather have beer, wine or a cocktail.
  • that's such a major achievement. congratulations!!!
  • I want to be as small as I can for my joints. Approaching 50 in a couple of years and my feet, ankles, knees, hips and back feel every pound, especially after having surgery on two of those body parts. I don't need to be a size 0, or even a 2 or 4 but I want to be as small as I can healthily be. This is for the rest of my…
  • I will echo this book suggestion. My cycles were anywhere from 23 days to 156 days apart and temperature monitoring and ovulation kits weren't telling when my body was ready. This book taught me a ton about other physical signs that really helped us.
  • after 3.5 years of trying, we gave up. A month later, we were pregnant.
  • I made this last weekend and it was to die for. We had it for lunches all week and it just kept getting better. A+ recipe, will make again and again and again: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2013/11/butternut-squash-and-black-bean.html I made this one last night and I'd give it a solid B- and probably won't make it again,…
  • I followed WW for 4 years and lost 120 pounds. Their online tools are horrible, so for me the value came from meetings. but then my awesome leader left and they started using canned PowerPoint presentations and talking at us. I stopped meetings so there was no need to use their crappy online tools for however much it…
  • lol, wait, I just checked your profile and you live in Colorado. there is a calorie free alternative out there...
  • move to Colorado, Oregon, Washington or Alaska?
  • pound 'em, stuff 'em, roll 'em up, bread 'em and bake 'em. You can put almost anything inside. This is one of my favorite recipes for that: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/04/chicken-rollatini-with-spinach-alla.html
  • I can have a really lazy workout on my elliptical, if I'm not feeling it. So some days I burn more than others...it's all up to me. but I can have a killer workout on it. I supplement with strength and balance training and yoga, all in my basement with a 6-year old running around.
  • motivation is fleeting. I have to rely on determination and tenacity. I'm also not really motivated to scrub the toilet, vacuum, grocery shop or sit down to pay my bills, but I have to. It's just part of life. Once I gave myself no choice, it became easier. It's also easier when you do activity you enjoy, and eat food you…
  • it was a combination of things for me. I was huffing and puffing just trying to get my shoes tied, and painting my toenails started to require contortion. I was just tired of being the biggest person in the room all of the time, and hating the way I looked and felt, always avoiding taking pictures with my 1-year old son,…
  • I take one weekend day, either Saturday or Sunday, and make that a food prep day. This weekend, I made a dozen stuffed peppers and an enchilada casserole that will last for lunches and dinners all week. however, if you think it's too much trouble to grab a tupperware container of leftovers and microwave it, I'm not sure…
  • when I first started paying attention, I was pretty shocked that my go-to Panda Express lunch was 1550 calories, and I'd follow that up with some peanut M & M's. And it was not unusual to stop at McD's on the way home from work to get a cheeseburger and medium fry and sneak it it on the car on the way home as a pre-dinner…
  • Having a son at age 41 was the thing that got me to be serious about my long term health. While pregnant, I had gestational diabetes that was diagnosed early on and I was insulin dependent and had to carefully monitor my food intake and blood sugar levels, and exercise every day. I learned that if I can do these things for…
  • score one for having young children I guess. I get 2000 before I even leave the house in the morning with making breakfasts, prepping lunch, corralling and all that. Even 2 days after I had ankle surgery, I got 1900 steps while using a walker.
  • due to ankle surgery, I've had to cut out most weight bearing activities for the last couple of months. i'm still losing, but it's slower. Also, I've found that I really need the mental benefits of a good workout...nothing like a run to throw off the stress of the day. great appetite suppressant too.
  • awareness of the food I'm eating was pretty life changing. I didn't realize how many calories I was taking in, especially with what I saw as little snacks (goldfish crackers, cheese and crackers, chips and hummus). The biggest change after 4 years is that I don't even like fast food any more. I used to crave McDonald's…
  • no more cracked heels! I didn't realize until after I'd lost the weight that most of my cracked heel problem was weight-related. Turns out, all that pressure has to give somewhere and no amount of heel cream or pedicures were going to solve that.
