Whatever. If you read some of these books you'd see that the footnotes to the scientific peer-reviewed documents are included in the footnotes. They are not making this stuff up as you imply. I don't like people slandering those much smarter than them because their ideas are different than the normal. If you'd like to read…

No. Don't assume that. Go to Amazon. Type in Low Carb and search. Then type in Fasting and search. You will find many books that I have read. And you probably should too since you appear to be following me around on here disputing what I've said.

And one final thought. I think you inadvertently admitted that Keto is 5% better than all combined diets. 95% of diets fail and most will regain their lost weight in 1-5 years Source: Statistics on Weight Discrimination: A Waste of Talent, The Council on Size and Weight Discrimination, Retrieved July 18, 2011, from…

So you say. We'll never agree, unfortunately. It's a simple question. Is keto bad or good. It's great! That's it from me!

Brilliant addition.

We've had plenty of debate threads about Fung's insulin theory where we've hashed that out and clearly outlined where he goes wrong, and I don't get the impression your mind will be changed regardless, so I'm going to pass. Have a great day That's not his book. Who knows what people said on here. If you can show me…

Well, no I didn't read all of this. I tried to answer the original question is keto good or bad. I think I have more evidence that it's good than you folks do saying it's bad. There are plenty of methods to lose weight. Constant hunger, dizziness, and fatigue. And before you promote electrolyte imbalance, I was consuming…

Either he is misunderstanding how the endocrine system works, or he is purposefully misleading people to increase his following. This is just not true. He is not alone. There are many doctors that are following this exact path. It is a revolution fat loss and curing people. If you can show me one thing in any of his books…

PS. I am 59 and she just turned 61. My BMI was 44 at one time and it's 34 now. Hers is 27. We are both short and squatty. All *kitten* and no body :) On second thought, hers is probably lower because 11 pounds is probably 8% of her body weight.

No, I am not. I think keto is far superior and every way. This is from experience eating both ways to lose weight. My wife who is healthy and not fat started supporting me and eating kind of like I do. She eats less fat and more carbs but still low carb for a pasta and potato girl. She has lost 11 pounds in about 6 weeks.…

This is an odd statement considering fasting has been around for thousands of years. If you read and enjoy it you would benefit from any of his books. They are well written, fun and engaging. No, he doesn't follow standard dietary recommendations. Considering that diets, in general, have about a 3 percent success rate,…

It might be popular to say this, but I would bet money that you never read any of his books. While other doctors ruminate about what to do about the American obesity epidemic, he is actually helping people and doing things. He is a well-respected nephrologist (think that's an easy field). And he has saved 1000's of people.…

That's scary. I'm sorry & hope she stays well. I was headed there until I went back on low carb and stopped trying to eat 30 grams of fiber a day.

So one link from examine.com? How much are we betting? I really don't agree with several things you've said here. Insulin absolutely plays a part in really fat people with diabetes metabolic syndrome and several other diseases. For me, it's way superior. There is a huge difference in low carb vs low calorie in basically…

You go do some of your own reading, Because YES! Think about it if we curled up and died when we were hungry we would have died out before we got going. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Fasting-Intermittent-Alternate-Day/dp/1628600012

I bet I can show you more studies that prove it's a fact that you can that don't. How much do you want to bet? It's a well-known fact that low carb stabilizes insulin. There are a growing number of doctors that recognize this and are using low carb to treat medical conditions.

I'll buy that. But remember, not everyone benefits from high fiber! And tell your wife to watch out for macadamia nuts. My wife used to buy me the big can at Costo. A few days of eating them will cause a diverticulitis flare up. Doctors will tell you nuts don't cause it. I call BS and I am not testing it a third time!
-
Here is the key part of your statement: can increase symptoms.!
-
People like to say this but I do not agree. It's part of it but not the only reason. Low carb is a big factor because it stabilizes insulin. I've read many books on this. It's a fact supported by studies. I proved it to myself with my own experience and over 30 years of losing weight and gaining it back. When I eat high…

Hi, Not when you are fasting! I read a fasting book which says your BMR actually increases when you are fasting. But I think long term it will go down. So if you lose 50 pounds it will be less than when you started. But fasting 2 days a week will keep it up.
-
Hi, Not everyone! I had a problem and my Gastro doctor said high fiber does not work for everyone. When I adopted a low carb diet my troubles went away. I eat a bunch of vegetables. But low carb is very low fiber. Don't listen to everything people tell you!
-
Keto is great! I lost weight with it. Then I got sick from an unrelated genetic defect. When I started eating carbs I gained 50 pounds back. I went back on LCHF, OMAD, and light fasting in December. I'm averaging over 3 pounds a week and I've lost 40 pounds already! I walk a few miles a day, but that's it on exercise. I'll…
-
Yes and no. If you practice a low-calorie diet well below your BMR requirements then yes. Your body will adapt to it and fight to not lose weight. This is starving, like concentration camp victims. If you fast and change it up then I think your body does not adapt. My weight loss has been very consistent and I almost never…

And if you floundered and got crabby you bait each other back into the good current. B)
-
Well, we've had this conversation as far as I'm concerned. Thank you for your opinions and comments. I wonder why so many people like LCHF if it's such a fallacy. The reason is probably that they struggled before and are having some success using it. As far as the only reason being a deficit, that maybe so. I wouldn't know…
