I'm aiming to lose 2lbs a week and I'm following MFP's recommedations. When I started off in January my daily cal goal was 1690/day and it has gradually dropped to it's current target of 1490/day. Therefore my net cals are typically working out somewhere between 900 to 1200/day.

Hi again :) Just thought I'd revisit this thread now I'm a couple of months into my exercise routine with an update on progress, which may help others with a similar question. I've been logging all my rowing and it does average out at around 1000cals per session (just under for most days, but throw in a few half marathons…

Thanks 20yearsyounger :) I forgot to add... everyone, please feel free to send me a FR as it would be great to have more direct links with other rowers. I have an open diary and log everything! No need for a message and I do comment and use the like button!! Almost halfway to my goal at present and loving MFP B)

Hi everyone :) Used to row a lot in gyms on Concepts but now have a Fluid Rower (E316) at home and love it! I try to row about 5 days a week (60mins - around 13km at level 6) and have recently decided to work towards completing a marathon. Have done 2 half marathons in the last couple of weeks (1hr 39m) and all was well,…

LOL :D I know - it does seem a bit much :o but I'm a bit of a rowing freak and fortunately have a great rower at home (in front of TV). When 'in the mode' I do at least an hour a day (quite often more), 6 days a week. As StaciMArie says, I'm a big bloke as well so there's a fair bit of huffing and puffing going on! Cheers

Thanks all :) So I guess once in a while is OK if I really wasn't hungry but I should aim to hit somewhere around half to net most times. Makes sense. I suppose it's easy to get carried away and think little is better (for loss) but I know that I really need to look after my body at the same time...

Pretty much mirrors my own experience. First did the Atkins in 2002 and lost around 50 pounds, but as others have noted slowly put it back on again. Second and third attempts just didn't work out - which was a shame because I actually loved the high protein diet. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Everyone please feel free to add me. Will be here for some time as I have quite some weight to shift but will also be combining that with a good push for genuine fitness as well. I'm in the UK but that doesn't matter. I'm always up for new friends. Good luck all :)
