I agree. I have no idea why this particular zombie thread was resurrected, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

There's also a PCOS group.

Collagen is the most abundant protein that humans make. I'm not sure what supplement, other than protein, would possibly help with synthesis of collagen.

Ok, so here's the deal: the word "toning" has two different definitions. In skincare, "toners" are solutions with a low-neutral pH that are applied to skin after cleansing. Cleansers have a relatively high pH, and it is thought that the toner thus neutralizes the pH and provides some benefit through neutralization or…

It's a huge scam and three people in my fb feed are constantly posting about it. :/

What is your starting point (height, weight, age, and gender)? Have you plugged these numbers and your goal into MFP and gotten a calorie goal? If not, start there. Since physical activity is limited, set the activity level to sedentary.
-
Do you change your water intake during these diet changes? When I travel, I get dehydrated and the when I reintroduce adequate water I am very prone to passing kidney stones.
-
Meat should be weighed before cooking, then enter the measured number of grams onto the log. Don't go by servings, go by weight.

Aromatase inhibitors are horrible for your health, by and large. If you are not one them, great. They can contribute to fractures and heart disease. But I see them prescribed in some men on testosterone replacement therapy, so I felt compelled to ask.
-
It does. Cystic fibrosis. Those kiddos have to take enzymes with their meals in order to absorb the food and they have to eat as much as they possibly can to support growth and development.
-
The is a rare gene (autosomal dominant) that causes the same effect when exposed to anesthesia. It is called malignant hyperthermia and is very deadly.
-
They are sometimes prescribed alongside testosterone and can impact where you tend to develop larger fatty deposits. (Visceral vs subcutaneous )
-
Maybe the goal is too aggressive. Try calculating with 1lb and 1/2lb per week goals and see what it gives you. I am 4"11 and weigh 108lbs and 1200 per day would be too low for me. I lose just fine on 1500 cals per day.
-
Visceral fat tends to be more susceptible to exercise than subcutaneous. Are you on aromatase inhibitors?
-
That doesn't seem necessary or appropriate for someone who is 177lbs. Try a less aggressive goal, like 1/2lb per week and see if you tolerate that better. Take time to read the stickies at the top of the forum: a food scale and accurate logging are key to success, regardless of your goal. Good luck!
-
You're not logging accurately. You aren't weighing foods. How do you know one fried chicken leg is 75 calories? Did you use the recipe builder, or just a random entry from the database? MFP notoriously overestimate calorie burns from exercise. Some people have better success cutting exercise calories in half when logging.…

Because eating together is a a normal part of daily life and part of normal social interaction.

The kids>adults thing is something that I've heard speculated but I have not seen observational studies that compare the two. The hypothesis is that innate vitamin d synthesis decreases with age, like with other hormones. But most of the data I have personally seen relates to adults and at risk kids. It does not compare…

Scalpel and/or liposuction are the fastest way way to spot reduce. Otherwise, eat at a deficit and it'll come off where it wants to, and we have no control over where the weight comes off.

That was my thought when I read the original post. Vegan would not be sustainable for me. Paleo would not be sustainable for me. To attempt both simultaneously would be my own personal version of hell. To each their own, but I just don't understand the motivation behind this. Even if it is doable for the OP, the social…

I'm sure you're familiar with CICO. With data analysis (which is what you are attempting to do by looking at your protein intake based on food logs) we sometimes use the term GIGO (garbage in garbage out). In other words, we could hypothetically consider your question if there was decent data. But we are unsure of the…

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the stress or sadness for you and your family. Put your weight on the back burner. There are more important things right now. Forgive yourself for not being perfect. Find people to support you.
-
Does your diet really vary that much from day to day? Any answer that you get here will be very hypothetical. I doubt this question has been studied to the point where any actual research or data exists. But I agree with the above poster that 5g of protein over a 24h period is strikingly low and may reflect an error in…

Most adults are still vitamin d deficient even with ample sun exposure.

You WERE on depo, but stopped taking it. You missed a couple of periods since then. Your breasts are swollen and tender. I would watch for abdominal bloating, fatigue, nausea, and increased urination as all of those things can happen when you come off of birth control and should be evaluated by a physician. If those issues…

You don't need to over-restrict tomorrow to make up for some ice cream today. Just start over and stick to your goal. If you restict too much on one day to make up for a "bad" day here or there, you may set yourself up for a binge. There are times when you will go over and that's OK. Just start over the next day. I did not…

Just looked it up. Grounding, page 133.

Unless you are hypertensive, there is no need to avoid salt. In fact, table salt is a major source of iodine. Without it, you are more apt to develop an issue like a goiter.

One of the doctors who wrote a chapter in that book lives down the street from me, so I bought it. Really good information about thyroid, by and large. But there is some quackery too. Like having special sheets that make contact with the ground to balance your electrons. It also has some weird nutritional advice that isn't…

I have infrequent and inconsequential PVCs and my son has frequent PACs that resolve with exercise. We've never been given any dietary advice related to arrhythmias. Obviously, your situation is different and you sound like you have excellent medical care. I have never noticed dietary triggers. I am aware of arrhythmias…
