Ahhh, thank you. I was in the wrong section - didn't think to look at cardio!

I don't have a solution to offer but I notice this happening to me sometimes when it's hot and humid. Goes away when I cool down.

Not where I thought this thread was going to go when I saw the title lol

I'll also recommend that it's good to practice the bike to run transition...find some time on occasion to ride for a bit then go into a run. It may be tougher than you think so good to get used to it.

I had a friend once tell me while we were running "Your body is really efficient at trying to cool itself."

Mine was 3 but the doctors brought me back. Up to 188 now after the adrenaline shot!

I hear good things about Apple Cider Vinegar...Every. Single. Week....on this site.

Tell us more about your job...are you a geologist? (Sorry... I couldn't resist...

I'm experiencing déjà vu all over again.

Do it! And if that wind is at your back you might set a PR!

Might I suggest you take a step back and look at the positive: You've lost about 1/2 pound per week over the last year and a half - that's awesome! 30+ pounds!! And it's despite the fact you've done "the weight loss thing on an off." Maybe it's not as fast as you are expecting/desiring, but that's great success...so keep…
-
Just curious - why do you say it's better to work out early in the day? I exercise at night during the week and mornings on weekends; as long as you're getting the exercise in that's good! I wouldn't think the timing would make any difference. Congrats on your loss to date and good luck.

The thread that won't die (dye?): According to this story, this product called "Easter Egg Cookies" had to be recalled because they do, in fact, contain eggs.
-
How about doing one small positive thing today to start turning things around, and build on that with one small thing tomorrow...don't give up because of one "bad" week!

Actually, I haven't. :) Ads do follow me at other websites, but all the ones on MFP seem totally random (looking a a home equity line right now, and something called Embeddables was on the last page). Maybe I can get a home equity line to buy lots of Embeddables and Walmart candy!
-
Speaking of Easter...I'm reading through MFP message boards and you know how ads are embedded at the top and bottom of each page? I just had one for Walmart advertising all their Easter candy specials. Weird website for this ads, unless one concludes Walmart wants me to fail! :(

I did EXTRA exercise on my birthday last week since it fell on a non-working day and, well, I enjoy it! Knowing some cake was in my near future was good additional motivation.

@tincanonastring your posts are giving me a great laugh today. Thank you! :D

I'll echo most of the comments here - just enjoy your first half. Worry about the distance, not the speed. I guarantee you'll set a PR! :) Then you can work on speed to beat it in your next race.

I like your list a lot. I definitely agree with the BEST item (being able to run). I had knee surgery and a broken foot over the last couple years and that put a definite kink in my running, but really made me appreciate every day I can get out there. On a whim I jumped into my first race in years this past weekend (a 10K)…

Seems like you got lots of helpful feedback based on your responses above, so I just want to wish you luck as you implement changes. You can do this!

The secret formula for mine: Favorite band = The Clash One of my favorite Clash songs = Rudie Can't Fail Can't Fail = Seems like and inspiring mantra for MFP rudiecantfail = user name already taken rudie = derivation of rudeboy rudeboycantfail = available on MFP = score!

When you say you get home from work and "have a few drinks" are you talking about alcohol? If so, and it's a daily thing, alcohol is a depressant and may be contributing to your "feeling almost depressed." You might want to think about cutting that back as one step. Aside from depression, personally I find when I drink…

Go for a short walk. Also works to fight off fatigue (at least for me!).
