My thoughts: Up your calories. At 1520 a day (I am barely 5'3) I am satisfied. Also, make sure you're getting enough quality fat (grassfed butter, coconut oil, etc.) that should help with satiety. Its worth noting that if I go over on calories I don't sweat it- as long as I am on target for carbs. As far as protein sources…

Another good way to get your fat in is to try "fat bombs". My go-to easy recipe is 1. C. virgin coconut oil 2 T. unsweetened cocoa 1 tsp sweetener of your preference and 1 tsp vanilla. You can then add 1/2 cup nuts or another 2 T nut butters and melt. Pour into silicone molds or ice cube trays and freeze. I get about 16…

Hi all! I'm Melis, from New Mexico. I'm 42 and my first weight goal is to lose 60 lbs. After that I'll re-evaluate and see where I go from there. I'm a single momma of two teenage girls, working full time as a communications director and webmaster. I am also a foodie, and I love to cook (pinterest recipes here:…

Woo hoo! I fit into a smaller size today too. Not gonna lie, the strut was mighty on my two block walk in to work. MIGHTY. lol

OH YEAH!!

Basically the same. I've run out of the stuff and am not replacing it. If I have to use a sweetener for something, I'll use maple, like for baking on the rare occasion. I have adjusted myself to drinking a bulletproof coffee without it already, so I feel pretty good about it. YAY for kicking the habit! lol

Treat it like ordering out- burger no bun, sandwich no bread, grilled chicken/fish etc. You can probably add in cheese and butter, and such from any salad bar/breakfast bar stations. Breakfast should be a home run- bacon eggs, etc. And like kirkor says- play the allergy card. Ain't no shame in the keto game... lol

The keto calculator referenced above is going to be your starting point. :)

This is a great thread, good question Darling! Especially love "carbs to limit, protein to goal, fat to satiety". I won't forget that!

You're already smarter than me just for asking this question! I have no idea - but I'm looking forward to the responses.

LOL! Yes! I meant grams :)

Dan- what's your thoughts on coconut sugar?

Try and think of anything with almond or coconut flour as "once in a long while" things. I went out and bought the flours and then found I didn't really make too many things with them (splurg-y items, like pancakes or muffins) because they were total trigger foods for me and I wanted them all the time- in the end it just…

Hi! Welcome! :)

I totally recommend bulletproof coffee. I add in a tsp. of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon too. :)

The acidity in coffee could be a major contributing factor- maybe try a bulletproof tea, or take a break and see what that does for you. Do you french press your coffee? That could also contribute. I about ruined my stomach with my penchant for french pressed coffee (all those oils and acids? No bueno on a daily schedule.…

Subtract the fiber from the carb total. For instance, avocado *(technically a fruit) has 12 grams of carbohydrates, but a whopping 10 grams of fiber. If you look at it you're only getting 2 grams of "usable" carbs - and a magnificent 21 carbs of healthy delicious fats.
-
I count net carbs, mostly because I am a pro-veggie type. I don't do sugar alcohols or packaged foods - I think it all boils down to personal preference.

Oh cool, thank you!
-
Super proud of you! You're doing great!

Meant to add, recipe above makes 12 bombs.

My go-to recipe: .5 C. virgin coconut oil 1 T. unsweetened cocoa powder (good quality, like Ghiradelli) .5 T. grade b maple syrup 1/4 chopped walnuts Melt oil and mix in cocoa and maple. Fill silicone molds (like ice cube trays) with nuts and pour oil mix on top. Stick in freezer. Nutrition-wise they come to 105 calories…

Have you tried the keto calculator? That should give you a good start for setting up your macros, and then you can tweak from there. http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ Good job getting started! Everyone has to start somewhere, and it's a learning process.

Try cutting dairy and get rid of the diet soda. :) Good luck!
