My go to for skin care is collagen - specifically, collagen hydrolysate. I take that 1-2 times a day religiously for not only the benefits with achy joints sometimes, but my hair and nails are strong and grow like crazy and my skin has never been better. It was suggested to me by a fellow ketoer who is down 130 lbs and her…

Thanks! I was thinking along the same lines, but a little extra validation never hurts! :)

Meatballs :) They freeze well and can be reheated in a snap. :) http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2013/08/bacon-cheeseburger-meatball-recipe-low-carb-and-gluten-free.html

I would love more friends! :)

I'm like JessicaLCHF. Those are my go to "snack" if I am feeling snacky. They take forever to eat (I'll even take them to the movies so I am not tempted by popcorn) and because they are super salty, I don't find it easy to overdo.

Summer has actually been super hard for me. It's all those berries and melons and get togethers. I'm actually looking forward to the colder temps- I seem to just plan better when I have soups simmering and roasts roasting.

Awesome idea!

I think the letter is a great idea- it'll give her something to go back to and read when she has questions. One thing I have done with my mom, is emphasize the importance of planning. Maybe when you go visit, you can have a prep day with her- make food she can freeze and/or keep in the fridge, for those moments when she is…

Here's the recipe: http://theprimitivepalate.com/2015/01/30/italian-lemon-ricotta-cake/ I would modify by adding blueberries and maybe taking off the almonds for the sake of the carb count. Thoughts?

As a result of my woe, my family is following suit, with a couple of modifications. When we go out to eat they can order what they like within reason. Same thing applies for family dinners at my parents. Now, my "kids" aren't really kids- they're 16 & 18. We starting making changes in January, and respectively they are…

I love these! They're very satisfying!

How do you keep on during difficulties? Planning for me is key. I do prep days for the week ahead. I make sure to look at a menu beforehand if going out to eat. Also, I try to control my thinking and perceptions as much as I control my food availability. I try not to think of food in terms of "bad" or choices in terms of…

I'm partial to a good vodka soda with lime.

Things that make me smile: All that yummy grassfed butter Fancy cheese. Bacon (of course) Feeling super creative when I cook and think up meal ideas to keep my family in the game with me. REALLY feeling like I CAN keep doing this and the success will come. I don't even feel like I am chasing after it, like I did with so…

When I first started this, Pinterest became my best friend. My low carb board is here: https://www.pinterest.com/melismusing/paleoprimalketo/.

Hmm, I will definitely roast my bones tonight. bubbles, you should definitely flavor it up if you're going to drink it straight. Don't throw it out- you could still cook with it if you didn't fancy it on it's own. Even if it doesn't taste great, there are still lots of minerals in it that are good for you. The first batch…

OOh good idea. I'll have to try this.
-
Definitely trying this!

My few exceptions were pie made by my 90 year old granny (I will never tell her no) and extra berries. Carbs were high from lots of veggies and salad. I felt great and owned my choices, and now choose to fall back on what I think is a solid, happy, lchf foundation. :)

Look at all that yummy bone broth! I am trying my first batch of beef bone broth this week. Can't wait! I am totally out and that makes me sad. I plan to do a chicken batch this week and well, and freeze it up so I have plenty on hand for my one cup a day habit. Last time I made broth I jarred it up but I think this time…
