  • I'm in the same boat was off for 2 weeks for the holidays and over ate a lot. Now that the big meals, drinking & treats are over with hopefully I can get back on track. Today I'm back to work, I logged all my food and so far I'm doing fine.
  • ^^^^ YES THIS! Ugh! So tired of ppl using the starvation mode card!!!! Please read the link below and stop the insanity! http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/
  • For what I've read no you cannot build muscle on a deficit. You need to eat at surplus to build muscle. You said you've been calorie counting for 2 weeks, thats still to little time to see a change give 2 more weeks.
  • You see up there above the name of your post??? Click on the search button :p type in the keywords.
  • I was 236 lbs in Dec before I started here on MFP. When only 4 yrs prior I was a healthy 145. I had had enough and I hated letting myself get so fat. I brought a Fitbit, joined MFP, brought a food scale and took my measurement and on Jan 5th I started my journey. I would walk around my office for 1/2 during my lunch break.…
  • Fear of getting comfortable when I reach my goal and gaining it all back, like I've done in the past.
  • No problem. Feel free to add me if you need a little extra daily motivation!

  • Hello, I know weight loss can be frustrating at first. When did you start your weight loss journey? 1. Are you accurately weighing all your food on a food scale? 2. Logging to the best of your abilities everything you consume? 3. Creating a caloric deficit either thru exercise and/or by eating less then what you you burn?…

  • In all reality, exercising is great for overall health but all you need to lose weight is a caloric deficit. You achieve this by cutting 20% of your TDEE. I have lost over 40 lbs just by creating this deficit, without really working out. Eventually I want to start lifting but for now I will continue to just eat less then…

  • Wow all you ladies all look amazing!!! :) Congrats on your hard work and determination!
  • Thank you!! To be honest I have hardly worked out. When I started back in Jan 2015 I just walked making sure I hit my 10,500 Fitbit steps. I'm just concentrating on have a deficit by eating within my allowed calories for now. Sometimes I will go to a zumba class. Eventually I do want to lift weights so I can firm up.
  • SW: 236 lbs CW: 190 lbs GW: 150 lbs
  • I weigh after using the bathroom every single morning. I log it in my phone app to see my trend and go about my day. The number on the scale use to control and determine my mood for the day, and would just stress me out. Thankfully I have learned that weight loss isnt linear and that the weight will fluctuate from day to…
  • Nice to get a mans prospective! Thx!!
  • Save your $$$...When I first was trying to lose weight I was desperate and got scammed into buying it. It was expensive and tasted horrible, so they told me next month I can switch and try another flavor....horrible again after 3 months I cancelled. I still felt hungry after drinking it and even though I lost maybe 5 lbs…
  • ^^^LOL !! :D :D Sweetie, take one challenge at a time. Start by concentrating on your food intake, start eating less. All you need to lose weight is to have a caloric deficit. Consume less then what you burn. I have lost over 40lbs without working out, just by eating less. I have a Fitbit which tracks my steps, some days I…
  • ^^^^ This is awesome advise!
  • I am struggling with how I see myself when I look in the mirror. I have lost a total of 94lbs (40 lbs thru MFP) pant size 18 to a 12, shirt 2x to M/L and yet when I look in the mirror I see a fat person staring back at me. There are days that feel and look thinner, I walk and move faster, I no longer get winded walking up…
  • ^^^^ THIS YES! Well said!
  • This should be totally unacceptable. Maybe you need to notify an administrator. That is totally cruel and should not be allowed. I believe the reason MFP was created so we can support each other to achieve our common goal which is to live a healthier lifestyle not to be shamed, ridiculed or bullied by anyone.
  • "Starvation mode" is a myth(see link below), but anyway just eat at a deficit and you will lose weight. http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/ Studies criticising the HCG diet have been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Both concluded that…

  • In Jan 1st my boyfriend of 2 yrs broke up with me. I loved him very much and it hurt me. He claimed he was at a stage where he has grown kids over 28 and I have 2 small ones and he didn't want to raise kids again. Mind you, my kids father is very much present in their lives and I was definitely not looking for a…

  • Op you asked for advise but then negate everything everyone is telling you about the possibility that you are over eating. Correctly weighting everything you eat with a digital food scale (liquids in cups/the rest on scale) accurately. Believe me it makes a HUGE difference. I am one that cannot for the life of me eye-bowl…

  • ^^ Ummm no. OP All you need to lose weight is a caloric deficit you dont need to cut out any group of foods. Yes eating healthier foods is great but not necessary to lose weight. In reality when you cut or limit carbs is another way of creating that calories deficit but if this is a life long lifestyle change you need to…
