My tip is to measure (with scales) all your food and log it to count the calories. You'll probably be surprised at how many calories you are actually eating, so to ensure the deficit above, count every last spoonful. Good luck!

@jrline - mainly because I am impatient and desperate to see results...

Very informative @257_Lag. I love the example you gave re weighing 5th of the month - just goes to show! And well done on the amazing progress!

Wow, that's amazing progress @maillemaker - and it just shows how much it can spike - thanks so much for sharing and well done!

I like the sound of that!

Happy Scale downloaded - thanks everyone! And thanks for the lesson on water retention - my sodium intake was double what it should have been yesterday (soy sauce) so that might help explain alongside my first run on Sunday for about a year!

I know what you mean... It's amazing how demotivating it can be (even when it's not real) and how magical it can feel when there's a big loss (which you suspect is not real)!

I've only just started my weight loss journey and am a big girl (6ft). It takes a lot of weight loss for clothes to feel different so I rely on the scales to let me know I'm on the right track. Especially given that weighing food and logging everything is relatively new to me too...

The Happy Scale???

Thanks @rabbitjb - going to look into an app now.

Because I'm desperate to see results and a sucker for self demotivation. I know, I know....

Thanks girls! I do have DOMs after running on Sunday and had a lot of sodium yesterday so that explains a LOT! Going to move the scales from the bathroom to make it a little less easy to jump on as a habit.

Forget about the calories you're burning when exercising for the moment - the main thing is that you're burning calories. Make sure you are calculating the right calorie content for your food and stay below your daily target (personally I think 1200 cals isn't enough for a 1lb per week weight loss). Weigh EVERYTHING. Any…
