when these things happen, try to estimate to the best of your ability, choose something comparable from the MFP database, log it and move on.

I weigh every day but only log it when it goes down.

i have an idea. how about looking up the calorie counts of your favorite items? just knowing that might be enough to lower its temptation value.

Awesome job!!!! I can imagine how much healthier you feel!!!! You've got this!

i do the gym. Lots of cardio options and it's air conditioned! I mostly use the treadmill -- get to watch TV and listen to music....However on nice days (not above 82 degrees F), I like to walk outside at our local walk along the river (3.4 miles round trip).

this has been my experience. I've been working with a trainer for 2 years. I buy sessions in bulk -- generally 8-16 sessions at a time (2x per week). Both trainers were terrific to help me with my form -- and my current trainer is moving me into lifting heavy -- and is always checking my form.

When my husband and i vacationed 2 years ago in the Poconos at one of the resorts and we had our picture taken by the photographer. I wanted to cry when I saw them because I truly had not realized how big I had gotten (5'4" and 243 pounds). It took another few weeks for me to make the decision to start this journey. I…

I work out with a trainer two days per week. On Saturdays I take a "Burn" class (think aerobics class on triple steroids) with a gym trainer. Another day each week, I take a "Strength" class with a gym trainer that uses dumbbells and kettle bells to strengthen and tone. During the week, I try to walk 3 miles on 5-6 days.…

for me, i have gone low carb, higher protein and fats. I rarely get hungry. I have generally cut out pasta and bread for most meals so that most of my carbs are vegetable carbs (unless you looked at today's diary, LOL!).

My first trainer recommended Asics or Nike Dual Fusion. For me, the Asics were too cost prohibitive (upwards of $120), so I went with the Nikes - still not cheap, but I love them and they're worth every single penny!

""Heavy" as in your goal is say 12 reps.... you should be struggling to finish the 12 with the weight in your hand but not wobbly or forceful if you know what I mean? by 9 or 10 you should really be feeling it, if it's a 6-8 rep set same thing by 4 or 5 you should be burning " Took this from a user on a body building…

the most obvious is that my clothes are all smaller. I started at 243 pounds wearing a size 22/24 and am now down 50 pounds and wearing a 14/16. I had NO problems sitting in the airplane seat on our vacation - and even had some room left with the seatbelt! We rented a mustang convertible -- and I easily fit in the seat. I…

I would just make it a point to plan to get back on track tomorrow. We had a wonderful trip out to Las Vegas, but I knew that as soon as I got back, I had to get back to ALL of my eating habits that had been working. Instead of low-calorie foods, maybe go for "regular" food and be sure to hit your protein and fat macros.…

I work in a school and used to eat in the cafeteria every single day. When I started my weight-loss/health journey, I started bringing my own lunch. Lunch (for me) is a BIG bowl of salad (lettuce, spinach, tomatoes), with olive oil and balsamic and 6 oz of grilled chicken thighs (reheated). I bring everything in on Monday…

224 day :)

I've set short-term, mid-term and long term goals. I started at 243...my short term goal was 20 pounds. My mid-term goal was 50 pounds which I hit in June...I've talked with my trainer and we're shooting for me to end up in the 160s (80 pounds total) so that's another 30, but I'm going to take those 10 pounds at a time as…

"There's nothing wrong with baking sweet treats. It's not comparable to smoking!!" while smoking is definitely "worse" here, the fact is that unless you can control portions, a tray of brownies will "disappear" - sometimes in one evening.

mountain climbers, burpees, jumping jacks, jump rope, squats, lunges.....

No athlete here but I love my protein shake in the morning! For me, it takes the guess work out of breakfast, in addition to being yummy and nutritious. In fact, it tastes just like a chocolate peanut butter milkshake! Additionally, it keeps me well filled until lunch.

I came back from vegas this week. We were there for a week. I had my protein shake every morning and tried to keep up with drinking all of my water. When we ate dinner out we shared dessert. I did 3 cardio workouts during the week plus had over 10,000 steps most days. I came back 2.5 pounds up. Both my trainer and I think…

i just found greek yogurt frozen treats -- the sea salt caramel is to-die-for -- and it has 6 grams of protein for about 110 calories....

generally, it's not safe to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week, so you could expect to drop between 4-8 pounds in the next month. I would not encourage you to eat less than 1300 calories as your body needs at least 1200 for what it needs to do. You might want to think about more nutrient dense foods -- and making sure…

big difference for me with my bottoms. Leggings in the winter, bike shorts in the summer

in that case, you should be able to see the effects of the exercise (calorie calculations) over each week. If you go back in the previous week, you can see how many calories were earned for exercise and then use that information going forward.

you are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing!

it took me almost 2 years to lose 50 pounds. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint -- and a lifestyle change.
-
i mix it into my chocolate protein shake that I have for breakfast. Totally Yummy!!!!

part of my journey to fitness started when my 3rd child went off to college. It really helps not to have to work around my children's schedules. that freed up my afternoons. I would work out 2 days per week at school with my personal trainer (one of the gym teachers). Six months later I joined a local gym right near my…

age: 51 5'4" SW: 243 pounds CW: 193 pounds GW: approximately 160 pounds....at that point, I will re-evaluate whether I want to go lower than that. Frankly, I'm super thrilled to have lost 50 pounds. I'm down from a 22/24 to a size 14/16 -- and loving it!
