  • Honestly, that is not my problem at present. I wish I had more time for exercise, more energy for exercise, &, above all, I wish the snow would melt so I could run & ride my bike. I am barely getting any exercise in & I have not lost any weight in the Challenge. The $$$ is one of my reasons for doing it, so I am not…
  • Shoveled a path thru thigh-high snow to the barn door. That night, wind obliterated it. Next morning, had to re-shovel entire path.
  • People sometimes use cans, but they aren't very heavy unless they are too big to hold easily. Containers that have handles, such as paint, cat litter, spackle. etc. might work. A heavy book like a dictionary is a possibility. Do you have a cat? Mine weighs 6 lbs, 11 oz. But she hates to be picked up.... But free weights…
  • Thanks, that is helpful!
  • It annoys me that we can't enter strength training classes, like the circuit classes, in MFP. Even if I remembered, I would not have the patience to enter the number of reps, etc., for each exercise. I just want to say strength training & the total time spent - e.g., circuit class, 30 mins, or arm weights, 20 mins.
  • Dr. Spencer Burling of River Valley Chiropractic right on Rte. 9 is a great chiropractor & physical therapist. He is not a crack-your-back type chiro; he is mainly a physical therapist with a whole gym set up for rehab exercises.
  • I haven't had the will power to change my snacks but I am eating smaller portions. For example, my favourite food is ice cream. Normally, a quart of ice cream lasts 3 days, 4 if I am lucky. I just made 2 quarts of ice cream last 5 weeks. That's 2 ½ weeks per quart. It has not been easy -- I think about ice cream every…
  • Not me! My problem isn't a lack of knowledge; it's a lack of will power. I could lead these tours; I am an expert on healthy eating. I just don't follow my own advice! Also, I hate Stop 'n' Shop & Big Y. I only shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and local stores like River Valley Market, Atkin's Farm, etc. Call me a food…
  • I've also utilised the trick of using smaller plates & bowls to make portions seem larger, as well as using smaller forks & spoons. Those tricks help but the pre-measuring one does not work for me -- I rebel against that kind of stricture! I have tried logging my food in the past & it never helped, but I just did it in a…
  • Nugget is adorable!
  • There is a filter on the software that won't let me write A S S. Ridiculous!
  • I have a contrarian nature & resentment issues with portion control so strategies like individually-packaging meals & snacks doesn't work for me. If I get a bag of crisps or biccies or what have you, & select a designated serving, I will ALWAYS go back for more, even if I am not 'hungry' (hunger has never really been…
  • I would question why you want to use a protein powder. Unless you have a unique health situation, it is generally better to get your nutrients from real food.
  • This is Amanda. I hear there are 70 people doing the Weight Loss Challenge?
  • Crazy Noodles in Amherst is inexpensive, especially their lunch special, vegetarian-friendly, & they can customize any item on the menu to make it healthier. It's run by a very nice couple & is a good local business to support. Portions are large so you can sometimes get two meals out of one, if you have the willpower to…
  • I take the Country Life chewable adult multivitamin, which I buy at Whole Foods, although you can probably find it online cheaper if you poke around the Internet. I can swallow small pills, but not the ginormous horse pills that are multivits, hence the chewable.
  • I've never seen a slice of bread as small as a cassette tape. Also, people under 25 have probably never seen a cassette tape :D
