Runs have been going good and bad like the weather in VA. My legs are worn out and I can't wait to get to taper in about a week. Hopefully this training plan will pay off for One City 3/4/18. Hope everyone's healing and having good runs!

Running downhill: Start with a hill that's mid grade 4%-8%, approximately 1/4 mile long. The most important thing I try to do (which is the most counter-intuitive) Don't lean back when going downhill, try to keep your body perpendicular to the running surface. This will keep you from over loading your quads/knees and lower…

Cool! My GF and friend are doing the Shamrock HM too! My friend and I are doing the Dolphin challenge which is the 5k Sat then HM Sunday. I always wanted to do Crawling Crab but I always seem to have a race on or near the date. Same with Norfolk Harbor HM. You got some great races scheduled! Hopefully the weather is better…

Been gone for a while but still running. I have a marathon March 4 so the end of February will be in taper mode. I'm doing a couple races but not racing them in the mean time. I'm going to try to go back and read how everyone's doing. February Goals: Run Everyday (31 day streak currently) Run 150 miles Finish BAA Level 4…

Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while (not even able to just read what everyone's doing). I'm going to try to keep up in February. I've let a lot of things slip (tracking food, yoga, boot camp, lifting) but I have been able to get out running everyday though. I've been loosely following the BAA Level 4 training plan…

Childish Gambino-Bonfire turnnt to 11 throughout the entire house right before a massive run!!! I'm a completely emotional runner.

Thank you lporter229! You, MobyCarp, and this girl I started dating have honestly been my sole inspiration for Boston. I feel like its reachable now! Hopefully my body agrees. Thank you all!

'Ello everybody! I've been MIA for a solid month. Hope everyone's doing splendidly! Just been running every day and *kitten* *kitten* up when I can! I met someone through Strava and so far it's been crazy good! I'm running a 5k this Saturday and I'm intending to break 20 minutes to open my training for a BQ run March 4th…

I'm good for uno fiddy for November! Still trying to catch up on this thread!

Made my goal for October! I have the whole week off so I'm going to catch up here and write up race report for my marathon this past weekend. Overall it was an awesome experience for my first! I think I'm addicted to that distance. Trying to switch the Charleston Half to a Full now. Hope everyone's running great or healing…

I love how you could put this imagine into my head with your words! Who's really the cool one?!?! I assure you, I'm a full fledged nerd. I mean I'm an engineer at NASA. Do I even have to pull out my nerd membership card?!
-
And there was this guy too! :D

I also had a race this weekend. NASA 100 year dash 10k. It took place on NASA Langley and part of Langley AFB. It was a perfect morning with a starting temp of 53F and a little fog. Very flat, fast course! I got to the race later than I wanted to. I had the kids with me (long story). I didn't have much time to warm up. I…

Just been running, working, eating, and sleeping. I've been really lax on here. I'm better at following y'all on Strava. I'm just getting ready for my first marathon. I'm getting really nervous but excited. So here are my goals for my first one. Primary. Finish it Secondary. Run the whole way Tertiary. Sub 4 hour finish…

Just checking in. Congrats to Gary, Amy, Jessica, and John for their awesome racing! Sorry if I missed anyone. I book marked the race reports to go back later. I have to catch up. Feels like I say that every time. I had my longest run on Monday (20 mi) that was somewhat of a kitten show. I headed out around 7:50a since I…

So far behind on the posts. :( Life's been busy! Hope everyone's running happy and staying healthy! I have been able to get in my runs though (priorities). I overshot my September goal by 100 miles (I was going for 125 and ran 225). So I'll set my October goal for 200 miles. I have my first marathon October 28th. Good luck…

I've fallen way behind on here. I'll catch up over the weekend (maybe). Trying to cram for my marathon :D I know it doesn't work like that, but it's been my release for my nervousness for the race. I've been upping my weekly mileage maybe a little too fast but I've been doing almost all at an easy pace. For my first…
-
That's awesome you're doing this! I've always wanted to but my pace is all over the place and I'd be afraid of wearing people out by yo-yoing my pace.

Yes, persimmon is a weird choice. I used to have a persimmon tree in my yard. Never got a taste for them though. Cool! Socks would be good too. Really anything but a shirt.
-
An adult would do that to you?! That sounds awful. I'm sorry if that brought back any bad memories.

Are those carrots on the top!? :s

Sorry, some of these might be out of date. I was reading several pages back last night trying to catch up. @garygse – Thanks Gary! Great job of killing your monthly goal half way through the month!! It’s not like you low balled it either, 175 miles!! Congrats on getting to taper in great shape and hitting MP on a long run!…

Since I enjoy reading you guys so much and, I learn from them, here’s my stab at a race report. Bear with me, I’m not much of a writer and my thoughts tend to tangent and twist. The Mulberry Island Half has been going on for 36 years. It’s a flat fast course (course record 1:06:50) that takes place on Fort Eustis Army…

@Orphia - Peak to Creek in Morganton, NC. A dozen of us local runners are going to camp out up there before and after we run.
-
@PastorVincent - If I were injured, I'd do #1 but end up doing #3 and if there was live tracking I'd watch y'all while eating my donuts .
-
@cburke8909 - I know you're getting excited/ nervous. Isn't this your first? My first one's Oct 28th and I am. You know you're a long distance runner when you say "Just 5" lol. @girlinahat - You know it was a good celebration when you say "I won't do THAT again" ...anytime soon >:) . That's funny about you stinking up the…

Nice! Yes, there were a few days of hell but I've been in SE Virginia 32 years (almost my whole life). This is the earliest I've ever seen the trees have started to change and I haven't had to run my ac in 2 weeks!! Unheard of! I think we're in for a wet/ cold winter though.
-
@26kgtolose - Welcome! Just keep moving your feet.
-
@KatieJane83 - Man! 19 miles! Awesome job at distance PR at long distance PR pace after being a week off at that! Sorry about blister though. Hope it heals fast. You're in great shape for your marathon!

Praying for everyone, especially in Florida, Texas, and California. For those who can, I hope you're having good runs and good weather. Those who are injured, I hope you're healing well. The weather here SE Virginia has been scary nice! I've been trying to get in longer runs. I did 16 miles on Sat. It's been tough running…
