Congrats on great races @MNLittleFinn @amymoreorless @MobyCarp @Orphia @skippygirlsmom and anyone else I missed. Too many posts to catch up on. Been running with others so I've been slowing down and talking. I need to get at least one run a week where I work my pace more as well as a proper long run. I've been nickle and…

Great race!! You look mid-foot strike to me. Your knee is bending before your foot makes contact. Great job!! I'm so nervous now. I'm starting my training plan for my first marathon in October. I've learned a lot and really enjoyed reading your reports. Thank you! Rest well and gear up for the next one!

I kick a treadmill every time I see one. I feel like I should get a point for that.
This. Is. Awesome. I may be fast for an old guy, but @VydorScope is truly impressive. Everyone who glazed past the original post - read the story at the link. I choked up.
@MobyCarp Who are you kidding?! You're fast for a human!!

I was unintentionally training for this race a couple months ago. It didn't end good. It was nice running weather then. I can't imagine JUNE!! ugh, I feel a little sick already.

Welcome @SpiritHippo! This is a very encouraging, knowledgeable group.

Did Yorktown hill intervals yesterday. Pretty uneventful. It was 94F / 34C and 80% humidity. There was a nice breeze though down at the beach. It was crowded though. One of the regulars wasn't taking much of a break between hills so he was pushing us and I was feeling it. gong to try to go tonight after work. Hope…

I think it would be good idea on a run but not a race. I dislike getting stuck within earshot of these people. I had this happen in my first HM. I got trapped next to one girl playing country music and another guy talking on his bluetooth. I wasn't going to compromise my pace for them but I couldn't out run them either.…

Nice! @MNLittleFinn. I'd definitely wash your shirt. Even before your first run. Almost all new clothing has chemicals from the factory production which can cause some pretty bad skin reactions especially if you're going to be sweating. Your skin pours will be opened more. I know this from first hand experience. Just my 2.

Haha! You're welcome. You can add it to your running playlist. It has a good tempo. Not kidding. :D

When coming up on people I like to yell "YHAA!!" (with the whip noise sounding in my head) like from the theme song for Rawhide. I like to imagine I'm herding people like cattle.

Finally had an alright race pic Then it all fell apart

So sad to hear! I will keep everyone in my prayers.

@zdyb23456 you did great considering head wind, I think maybe you were under fueled or maybe not hydrated enough coffee and tea aren't great for hydration. Did you drink anything during the run? I'd be proud of 2:06 considering everything. Great job!

Awesome! Thank you!! It just sounds sooo good on top of some chocolate ice cream (dark chocolate preferably). Now that's all I can think about.

My regular Wednesday Onion and WSG runs went good. Had a friend join us that's just getting back into running so I took it easy and stayed with him to make sure he didn't get lost. I'm going to try a longish run tonight. The weather's been so nice the past couple days 68 low humidity. My planned June mileage just took a…

Please share the peanut butter sauce recipe! :p

Thank you @MNLittleFinn and @MobyCarp for the encouragement. Coming from you two it means a lot! @MNLittleFinn If it were me, I'd run laps at my own pace. I know that may be a little annoying to other runners but I normally get a minor injury when I try to run too slow which a 12:00 min mile is definitely that for you.…

@sktobin Far from it lol! I go really slow when I do these and it takes me FOREVER to do them especially at the end. I have to take breather breaks. I know people sometimes drive by and say "what's this fool sweating so much for? He's just standing there!" :D
-
Thanks @skippygirlsmom! Unfortunately that was probably the flattest 5k I could hope for.
-
Hope everyone's doing good. Just catching up. Great job everyone on fabtastic races this weekend! Enjoyed Karl's race recap. Heat and humidity are nothing to mess around with. I had a 5K this weekend. It's the last race until fall where I'll try to break the 20 min 5k mark. Short story, I didn't. I was close though. From…

Sometimes during my runs I throw in Burpee's, mountain climbers or some other (planks) to activate the core and upper body. This has helped me control my pace too. I typically do the intervals every 8 min. Hope this helps.

In for 153.2 miles in June from a Treadmill Hater. :s

Work and life have been busy but I have been running as a relief of stress. Hope everyone is doing good. I'm behind 166 posts! I'm going to try to catch up this weekend. Have a blessed day and good running everyone!
-
I made my May running goal of 100 miles though I set it too low so I could have a little break leading into summer. I'll aim for 125 miles in June. Hope all my fellow Americans are having a great Memorial Day weekend and all the non-US runners are having a great weekend as well!
-
HAHAHAHAHA!! @Orphia, WRT this conversation, whenever you used juxtaposition all I could think about was junk to position. Clever word play?
-
I'm so far behind on everyone's updates, been busy. Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend! I'm going to go back and read race reports and updates. I did get to read those articles and websites from @MobyCarp @Stoshew71 and @WhatMeRunning. I want to thank you all. A lot of the information from all the sources…

@zdyb23456 I've never carried water. Although I never run very far either. I drink a minimum of 90oz of water throughout the day every day so I feel like I'm well hydrated. I am thirsty though after a +10 mile run. I feel like I'll have to get something though for when i start training in June for October marathon. Like…

Yesterday's runs were pretty warm. We set a record for that date 94F. There was a breeze down by the water/beach but it just felt like a hairdryer blowing on your face also crowded. I miss the winter running down there. I kept circling back for one of our group who was really struggling with the heat. For the second run…
