If you are taking pain meds, even something like over the counter Aleve, that can also lead to water retention.

Have you tried preplanning and portioning out your meals for the day? This helped me a lot, and I am able to include snacks into my day (or night) that have already been accounted for ..... maybe make a bowl of popcorn you can snack on while watching tv, or a bowl of frozen grapes (my personal favorite because it turns out…

This is the unfortunate truth.... maintenance begins a whole new ball game. It takes a while to figure out what your maintenance calories are. 2 years into maintenance, I still have to be diligent. What got me into the position of needing to lose weight in the first place was overeating by 70-100 calories a day (yep.... an…

Hi there :) I've never been a gym person either so I totally understand your reluctance to even walk through the door. That said, weight loss happens in the kitchen, while fitness comes with exercise. I lost the first half of my weight without any exercise whatsoever (I'm a slug too, LOL) .... just tracking my food intake…

56 and 5' here .... I lost 30#'s and just celebrated my 2 year maintenance anniversary :) My preferred exercise is swimming, biking and walking (hiking) because I need to keep things more low impact.

Way to go!! Just hit 2 years myself and it's definitely an ongoing lifestyle change .... keep up the great work :)

Great Job!!

56 here and a shortie .... One day I couldn't find anything in the closet that fit, so I stepped on the dang scales and realized I had slowly gained to within one pound of the obese category :s Six months later I was down 30 pounds and have maintained it the past 2 years ... YAY!! I find if I get sloppy with my logging (or…

Eating Well has weekly meal plans for nearly every "diet" choice and calorie level. I like to use the Yummly app for recipes because it will generate a shopping list for me, gives the nutrition breakdowns, and also has a function to automatically upload the recipe to MFP. It's individual recipes pulled from throughout the…

I retain water badly also and I didn't want to take diuretics either. My doctor has me try to stay under 1750.. If I go over I can easily gain3-6 pounds in a day and struggle for a week to get it back off :D. Annie's Lite Raspberry vinegrette is a good low sodium salad dressing. He recommended carrot juice as a natural…

Being just 5' myself and 56, I can attest to how very long it takes to lose those last 4-5 pounds.... It was almost as long as it took me to lose the first 25!! I would sometimes only lose .25 pounds in 2 weeks, then nothing again for a bit, then suddenly a pound. Frustrating for sure especially when you are being diligent…

Weigh the plate then reset to zero (tare button)... Add first food, note weight, hit the tare button to reset to zero.... Add next food item, note weight, hit tare.... Etc, etc until all your foods have been added to your plate, eat and enjoy :)

Just a note given that I am rehabbing from a dislocated shoulder, 3 fractures in my arm and total collapse of my thumb joint from a fall 2 1/2 months ago ..... but my ortho surgeon expressly told me no naproxen because it actually slows the healing of the bone fractures!!! You might want to ask your ortho what is best for…

Okay, I admit I'm old LOL .... I did WW back in the day (late 1980's) when it was a food exchange program rather than the point system they do now. You were allotted x daily servings of fruit (2), vegetable (3 at least)), fat (2-3), protein (4-5), bread (2-3) and milk (2), with some floating calories each day and weekly…

Just be sure to thoroughly rinse your mouth afterwards because ACV is acidic and known to damage tooth enamel.

I am definitely sodium sensitive now. When you start looking at sodium in foods it's shocking. My doctor has me try to stay closer to1750 mg which can be pretty dang tough.

Unfortunately..... With all the lovely leftovers, one day turns into several for me quite easily especially since I will be alone over the weekend this year. While I may not be terribly over on that one day, having that food stare me in the face singing it's siren song day after day is not what I need right now. Having a…

Today I actually prelogged breakfast, football snacks, 2 gin and tonics watching football, my planned thanksgiving dinner that I am cooking with 2 glasses of wine. Yep, I am definitely a scooch over but I am swimming Friday, gonna enjoy my oldest son's favorite holiday snack treat, skip my youngest son's favorite pumpkin…

I love experimenting with cooking in campfire coals. This time of year we do Stuffed squash with rice, protein of your choice mushrooms and other veggies with aa can of diced tomatoes for extra liquid for the rice wrapped in foil and covered by the coals. Maybe a little cheese on top. So delish!

I am super short and54, so the last 8 pounds took me as long as the first 22. So very frustrating, but I averaged about half pound every two or three weeks at the end. Trust in the process and eventually you do get there!! Great job on your loss so far!! Outstanding!!!

Hi @bacon0532 .... I watch sodium as well. Just a couple more tips not mentioned above. Salad dressing can also be a sodium bomb for me. I have found the Bolthouse yogurt dressing to be lower, or else I cut my favorite regular dressing with Greek yogurt to get more bang out of less dressing. Mozzarella cheese is also a…

I'm I'm trying a new recipe for skinny chicken marsala over brown rice with garlic green beans. Fingers crossed :)

Hi Amand Panda.. Just want to say great job on the41 pounds..... Listen to Coffee and Rabbit :) I lost30 pounds earlier this year and just passed 4 months maintenance. You are doing great!!! Sometimes, we have to be a little more mindful of our logging, especially as the weight comes off. I know that for me I had to be…

Maybe try Fitness Blender or Leslie Sansone videos on YouTube. They are good for Beginners to more advanced. Both exercise and inside walking routines. Best wishes :)

Hi @kygreeneyes91 The only thing I can tell you is that I need B-12 injections periodically due to an inability of my body to properly process the B vitamins. The injections I have aren't fun. I was diagnosed as an infant with pernicious anemia. I daily take super b complex vitamins which contains C to boost my immune…

I immediately ran to the front door expecting a parade in my honor and lots of balloons..... But alas, no one apparently heard my shrieks of delight. So onward and upward, I increased my calorie goal by 50 calories and went on about my day B)

Oh.... Forgot to say, you need to be in a calorie deficit as well hahaha :s

Exercise and healthy diet (as in food choices) are going to serve you best. My son's endo has him limit caffeinated drinks and high glycemic/starchy carbs. Some foods interfere with certain thyroid meds, so ask if they didn't tell you if you need to wait for a certain amount of time between eating and taking your meds or…
