I just want to say I totally respect your walking and running exercise. Just a thought, but several of us with knee or back issues add in some swimming or pool workouts rather than beat ourselves up running. Not sure that would be an option for you until you get down a bit more so you don't end up damaging your knees....…

Just a final heads up since you are just starting the HRM today...... It is my understanding and someone please correct me if I am wrong , but usually the first 3500 -5000 steps or so registered is already included in the'sedentary' activity setting so don't be surprised by that. This again goes to the theory that a…

Great job!! It sure sounds like something IS working!!

Yay!!! I came back to see what you chose :) Yummo!!

If you only have 45 calories left for instance, weight watchers has a decent sized fudge cicle, I personally love their English toffee bars but they are 100, skinny cow has frozen yummies closer to150/190. A couple of Almond Roca are well under 100 but I have a hard time stopping LOL. Oreos always hit the spot ( 4 for160…

I have always enjoyed cooking, and love trying new recipes. I was over the moon happy when I discovered several apps like Yummly that give the calorie/nutrition counts, pull recipes from all over the internet, have an easy search function and a simple one button sync with MFP recipe builder There are several websites that…

I log my supplements, which don't show any calories but one I have to take does also have electrolytes in it which hits into my restricted sodium level so I pretty much feel like I have to.

That was my experience too @tigerblue. Now I am happily maintaining my 30 pound loss with all intentions of continuously monitoring my weight and keeping a lid on any future gains before they get out of hand again

Hi Ingrid.... In all honesty, weight loss occurs in the kitchen while exercise improves our health, helps shape up our bodies, and can allow a few more calories to eat among other benefits. If you can't find extra time in your day for specific exercise right now, just focus on what you eat, weigh your food on a food scale…

After my GP retired last year I found a new doctor on the younger side. When I woke up one morning last December and discovered someone had replaced me with a nearly obese person I made an appt because clearly there was something terribly wrong with me (hahaha). He sat me down and told me he would run all the blood work,…

Everyone has great ideas. When you have kids, it is a good life lesson to include them someway. I found an inside community pool that also has a water slide. I take my son with me twice a week. He does about20 minutes of laps with me then he hits the water slide for about an hour while I work on my laps. He loves it and is…

Unfortunately, I have never had those options on the Kindle app either and hoped when I upgraded it to the new version earlier this year I would at least have my recipes but no such luck. You CAN access them by going online to the regular website though on your Kindle, just not through the Kindle app. It is definitely a…

I have a friend with EDS.... She is constantly challenged, the simplest things will cause something to pop out of place, and she has horrible pain so I have the deepest sympathy for you. She does modified swimming when she is physically able but I am not sure what other exercise type things she does. She tries to stay…

Hi... 54 here and successfully lost 30 pounds. It is a little tougher at our age. My doctor explained because of the big M we can sometimes become more insulin resistant and our metabolism drops around75-100 calories a day. For that reason he had me focus on getting a minimum of100 g protein, no more than35% fats and let…

http://www.move.va.gov/ Here is the link to the VA weight management program. One of my MFP friends was floundering and incredibly frustrated as well, but now is doing really great with their assistance. He went through a12 week program and continues to get support. He also continues to use MFP to log his calories and…

You ask for a referral to the VA weight loss program who will be able to take that into account as well as your other health issues and develop an appropriate program designed for your circumstances.

I have stayed out of the fray on this one because OP has gotten lots of good advice. I am glad you are going to have your blood testing done to give you more information. Unfortunately, if you are overweight in addition to your age(67), it will likely show declines although we will all hope the best for you. Interestingly,…

You can always leave half on your plate and no one will blink an eye. Practice eating only until you are satiated as well as eyeballing portions (backed up by weighing the portion). I also frequently will order something off the appetizer menu with a dinner/side salad because the portion size is smaller. Depending who I am…

Very smart to go in and have it checked before taking advice from strangers on the internet. It could be something like plantar fasciitis they can give you a few exercises for, maybe you need better shoes, or any myriad of foot problems. Good luck and take it easy until you know what you are dealing with.

Hi Katie..., I had a friend that had a serious foot surgery a couple years ago. He ended up using a kneeling wheeler instead of crutches and found it much easier to get around for the several months he was non weightbearing than the crutches. Back to losing a few pounds while you are laid up...,,, I lost the first half of…

My cousin and her family lived in Thailand for a couple of years. Believe me there are lots of healthy options available even at the street vendors. Here is a link with suggestions for substitutions and healthier options. At the end of the article you will find a list of popular street vendor and small restaurant foods…

I would guess your dietician doesn't want you to get caught up and worried about tracking scale weight progress right off the bat. It is far less overwhelming to first just get calorie tracking, weighing your food and accurately logging down. While I was losing, I was a weekly weigher, every Monday 1st thing to keep myself…

I started swimming twice a week earlier this spring and found that it helped lean me out incredibly well. I need to do low impact and it is a pretty good whole body work out. If you enjoy the pool, go for it. I lost 30 pounds and have been maintaining for 6 weeks now.

I have a MFP friend who currently lives and works in Singapore. If you want to have someone there to touch base with for help on tracking or logging their local foods while you are there, feel free to PM me and I will try to hook you up with her. What a fun adventure!!

There are a lot of free exercise videos on YouTube like fitness blender, Leslie Sansone's walking videos. Have fun with it :)

I set my target back to where I was comfortable after I had my kids, in the middle of the healthy BMI range. I definitely knew it was time to stop when I found size 2's to be llose and am having a hard time finding appropriate size 0's that don't come from the Jr dept. At 54 that is definitely not a good look :o I am a…

Uugh.... The last 8 pounds took me as long as the first 22!! Seriously, I only lost a half pound every two or three weeks :s Torturously slow!! Stick with it and don't give up! You can find your new sweet spot and suddenly wake up wondering if it is really true and you made your way to maintenance <3

My neighbor had to go the gluten free route this spring. She looks noticeably thinner but told me she had actually not lost any weight, just the bloat associated with her health condition.
